  1. My car is 6years+ old .Just a few weeks ago detected that the aircon is not as cold before - it's ok when the car is moving and not when it's idle .I can hear the 'hissing' sound whenever the car is stationary . I check the fan - it's running fine and the compressor cuts in regularly . The temperature control knobs works fine . So last week went to my usual wksp to diagnose and they suspect it's the cooling coil that is leaking and they top up the refrigerant and ask me to monitor .However as the days passes , i can feel that the aircon is not as cold as the first day when the refrigerant was being top up , so i decided to go to Tomika in alexander village to check. I describe the symptom and finding to the boss and he quoted $880 all in for replacement of the coil and it's a 2 days job.(citing they have to remove the dashboard to get to the cooling coil)As i needed the car daily , I just ask them to top up the refrigerant and I left . Is the price reasonable ? Any recommendation will be greatly appreciated !

  4. can anyone find the suspect [laugh] Now, this photo is beginning to go viral. Why? Well, as some netizens pointed out, a Malaysian police officer looks like a murder suspect he is hunting down. In an unlikely twist, Datuk Ku Chin Wah, who heads Kuala Lumpur's Crime Investigation Department, looks like the 44-year-old guy in the wanted poster he is holding. The guy in the photo, Kong Swee Kwan, is believed to be behind the killing of Hussain Ahmad Najadi, the founder of the Arab-Malaysia Bank or Ambank. Najadi died after being shot in the chest while his wife, Cheong Mei Kuen suffered serious injuries. Online users with a sharp eye were quick to point out that the police officer bore a striking resemblance to the alleged criminal. User, "Saucy" says, "He is holding his own photo?" But another user "Jack" could see some distinction between the two. "The cop and the suspect look like brothers. lol," he says. Meanwhile user "Ricky" quips, "Hahahahhaa! Spot on!" For user "Jasont", the murder case has been solved. He says, "I found him, he is holding the picture." To this "Andrew" agrees, "Don't be surprised. The high profile murderer may be KL CID chief". Not to disappoint these wanna-be sleuths, but a statement from the police chief himself addresses their hasty conclusions. Ku says the suspect remains at large and may still be Malaysia. .. http://sg.news.yahoo.com/seeing-double--ma...-103532530.html [laugh]

  9. CNA Snatch theft suspect nabbed after manhunt SINGAPORE: Police arrested a 52-year-old man on Wednesday morning for suspected snatch theft after a manhunt. He was arrested after a member of the public provided valuable leads on his identity. Police said the victim, a 75-year-old woman, was walking at the void deck of Block 88 in Redhill Close at about noon on Tuesday when the suspect came from behind and tried to snatch her handbag. The suspect failed and fled the scene. Police officers searched the areas around Block 88 and cordoned off the lift lobby. At one point, there were over 10 police vehicles in the area, including two vans from the Police Dog Unit. As officers led dogs around the area to try to sniff out the suspect's trail, curious residents crowded around the block. The breakthrough came when enquiries with a member of the public provided valuable information about the suspect's identity. Police arrested the suspect at a unit in Block 88 at about 1.45am on Wednesday. He will be charged in court on Thursday. - CNA/cc

  11. I think many have bad experience with some traffic marshals, my only fear is these are not locals whom do not have the empathy and not there to serve for the public good. No matter what nationality when given the task and authority they should act with justice and equality. Case in point....... Along upper serangoon road, a stretch of eateries with Maybank along the stretch of shop house....think some may know. Cisco's is almost always there 24/7....... Near the Alison porridge there are some parking slots along the road. One Cisco marshal standing there when I arrived, put on my signals and wait for a parking lot. All the time the officer stand there with his "cool" shades doing nothing. One week later send me a love letter for obstructing traffic, with 4 demerit points and $150 fine. Pissed off.... I wrote to TP that the officer being a representative of the traffic police force is to serve the public. The officer in question do not sees himself in the uniform of authority to serve but instead abuses his power. While we peasants are suppose to fear them like GODS. Am quite sure anyone here in this forum that if any of these Cisco officer come over and asked you to move your car; all of us including myself will gladly do so. TP acknowledge my letter and kind to waive off my summons but not without a warning which I appreciate. Some may say that I have caused traffic obstruction and should be punished, that I do not argue and I admit is my mistake. My problem is Cisco officers being the representative of the law and order should act in good faith with the mentality to serve the public. Thus my conclusion is most of these Cisco are not locals and they do not care about the locals. I hope Singapore will not come to a position where we have to out source the whole police unit to 3th parties and there will be no more integrity in the uniform anymore.
  12. Downtown East murder: Teen suspect jumped three storeys to escape police In his desperation to escape from the police, he leapt three storeys off a balcony and into the swimming pool from the Honeymoon Suite at the SAF Yacht Club in Tanah Merah Coast Road. Tragically for Edward Tay Wei Loong, 18, he plunged into the shallow end of the pool, which is only 1.1m-deep, hitting his head against the tiles of the pool, reported The New Paper. Tay, who is among four teens charged with the Downtown East murder of Darren Ng Wei Jie, is now in the intensive care unit of Changi General Hospital (CGH) after an operation to relieve the internal bleeding inside his skull. 14. As the topic mentions, I suspect the workshop I send my car for servicing for the last 1 year purposely damage other part of the car so I had to go back for repairs. Ok... the thing is after my car warrantly expired last year I decided to do my car servicing at this workshop. usually I send my car back to the agent. I mean it's not one of those small workshops but a big workshop with multiple outlets all over singapore .... so it must be reputable..right??? 1st time I send my car to them was to change brake pads ... next day my car vacuum hose to petrol tank sprung a leak ... at that time I just drove to my car authorised agent cos when the problem occurs I happen to be nearby my authorised agent workshop ... 2nd time I send for normal 20K servicing .... and again within 2 days my gear shift linkage came loose ... but last Saturday send for 3rd servicing (10K) at same workshop and within 2 days one of the oil pipes is broken ... For the first 2 times I thought it was just coincidence ... but now I'm beginning to think otherwise. Furthermore during the 3rd servicing I met a guy who also send his car for servicing same day ... and today again I saw him and he said his car also got other problems now and had to be resend for repairs ... Is there any trustworthy workshop I can send my car to or do I have to revert back to my agent workshop ...

  17. FIVE Honda CRVs stolen within days of each other late last month have been recovered by the police. One man has been arrested, and the police are looking for others who may be involved. The vehicles were returned to their owners yesterday afternoon, but the owners had them immediately towed to Honda agent Kah Motor, where they demanded an explanation of how the cars were stolen. They believe the safety device in the $96,000 CRV failed to do its job. That belief is shared by several members of a Honda CRV owners group, the CRaVers Club. About 30 members of the 300-strong group have started a petition to present to Kah Motor, and more are expected to join, said Mr David Tan, the club's founder. They demand that Kah Motor conduct a proper investigation and explain how the cars could have been stolen. The CRV's engine immobiliser system is supposed to prevent it from being driven away by anyone without a key that is synchronised with the car. If the proper key is not used, the engine cannot be started. The five owners whose cars were returned to them claimed they managed to start the car with their house keys. Kah Motor said it would investigate, though Mr Vincent Ng, the company's product manager, said he was confident that starting the cars with house keys was impossible. He said: 'We will look into the matter at the request of the owners. I am confident, however, that if these cars were bought from Kah Motor, the immobilisers are not defective.' The five owners had parked their cars in Housing Board multi-storey carparks in the Jurong and Kallang areas. All of them said when the cars were returned to them, there were no signs of forced entry, such as broken windows. Said Mr Kelvin Ong, 58, a businessman whose CRV was stolen from a carpark in Jurong West on July 30: 'We paid a premium for the car, and Honda even advertised how good its anti-theft devices were on its brochures. How can this happen?'
  18. My vehicle is parked at a road in landed properties area. No lines so it is not illegal parking. the road is a dead end and very wide. so cars are parked at both sides of the road with ample space in between for cars to move about. Total of about 8-10 vehicles when fully parked. Two days ago in the evening, I discovered scratches, dents and cuts on my front bumper and bonnet. Based on the damage, I can confirm that it is a lorry which have reversed into my vehicle and then ran off. There are always lorry parked in that area everyday so I have a few suspect in mind. So at night, around 10pm I went to CSI to see if it is a regular lorry who have damaged my vehicle. I look for the shape and partner of their backside..... found one highly suspicious. Drove my vehicle very near to his backside, and all the cuts, scratches, dents will match the backside of the lorry if he indeed reverse into me. very distinct because he has two metal ledge behind that fit the cut on my left bumper, the scratch on right bumper. the dent on bonnet is caused by the lorry backside which is quite high. i took all the photos possible in all angles to my best... reported police, went to IDAC. I didn't leave a note to the driver of the lorry even though he is still parking there everyday. confirm he will deny one. What should i do? Claim my own insurance and let insurer sue his company insurance? or go workshop and do 3rd party claim against lorry? I dun know what are the chances of winning leh but quite certain is that lorry.
