I learn my lesson, always try to be around when your workshop is trying something major or major servicing. First time is ask for Denso spark plug, i ended up with a NGK copper plug. Today when i do a major undercarriage overhaul to solve some knocking sound, one of the item is the bushings. I went under the lift and inspected the rubber bushing and found only one side is changed. The blur technician had took the old bushing from the left side and install it on the right side. Had to re-disconnect the linkage and redo. It not bad to stay around while the tech is working on your car.

https://m.facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=10152684710137934&id=93889432933 Households earning more in 2014: SingStat By Alice Chia POSTED: 16 Feb 2015 14:05 File photo of the Singapore skyline. (Photo: Sutrisno Foo) AA+ SINGAPORE: Households are earning more in 2014 compared to the previous year, according to the latest report by the Singapore Department of Statistics (SingStat) on "Key Household Income Trends, 2014". Median monthly household income among resident employed households - a household headed by a Singapore citizen or Permanent Resident and with at least one working person - from work rose from S$7,870 in 2013 to S$8,290 in 2014. This is a 5.3 per cent increase in nominal terms, or a 4.1 per cent increase in real terms, after taking inflation into account. Median monthly income from each member of the household also rose from S$2,247 in 2013 to S$2,380 in 2014. This is an increase of 5.9 per cent in nominal terms, or 4.7 per cent in real terms. Overall, resident households received S$3,370 per household member on average from various Government schemes in 2014. This is 25 per cent higher than the average amount of S$2,700 received five years ago, in 2009. However, this was lower than the average of S$3,650 received in 2013, owing to a lower level of one-off transfers in 2014, said SingStat. Government structural transfers - transfers excluding one-off payments, rose in 2014 compared to 2013. - CNA/av

China one cutted by an unsound mind person. USA one cutted by sound mind person .... Yahoo news: Alabama man claims penis was amputated by mistake (Reuters) - An Alabama man who went in to a hospital last month for a circumcision awoke after surgery to find his penis had been amputated, his lawyer said on Thursday. Johnny Lee Banks Jr., 56, said in a lawsuit filed in state court earlier this week that no one at the Princeton Baptist Medical Center in Birmingham, Alabama, had told him why it had been necessary to remove his penis. "My client is devastated," said Banks' attorney John Graves. Banks, who is married and does not work due to a disability, did not recall the precise date of the incident but believed it occurred in June, his attorney said. A spokeswoman for the hospital's parent company said in a statement that Banks' allegations were without merit. "We intend to defend all counts aggressively," Kate DeWitt Darden, spokeswoman for Baptist Health System, said in a statement. The lawsuit does not specify a monetary value of the damages. Named as defendants in the lawsuit are the hospital, the Simon-Williamson Clinic, Urology Centers of Alabama and two doctors, Graves said. Representatives for the Simon-Williamson Clinic and the Urology Centers of Alabama did not immediately respond to requests for comment. link: https://sg.news.yahoo.com/alabama-man-claims-penis-amputated-mistake-223249503.html One morning got 2 c*ck stories from Yahoo accross two continents...

Bros & Sistas, Me went down to AMK last nite to meet up with EZ-STAB guy on his regular installation and demo session..Saw an Altis and Euro-R there getting fixed up. When my turn, the EZ-STAB guy, Jon was real nice and explaned to me abt his pdt and the science of it..I was giving him a doubtful look and then....he offered to install a test unit on my car and let me drive around with it for free for one week...I was really shock to see someone so confident of his product.. Right now, the unit is in my car, and he only asked for my name and HP.. As a true blue Singaporean consumer, I told him if it really works well for me, I will beep him and pay him for it...but if not...then.... Guess what...He told me if it doesn't work for me, stripped it from my car and dumped it....Wah lao eh...I 'm really really impressed now... Today, I will be giving it a real tryout....wondering if any fellow forumers here had any similiar experience here...

Yahoo news report : Taking free items in bulk is criminal misappropriation By Kheng Leng | Posted: 10 May 2012 2055 hrs SINGAPORE: People seem to be helping themselves to more than what they need at self-help counters at fast-food chain McDonald's. At a McDonald's outlet in Tampines Mall, people took napkins, sauces, or even free drink refills in bulk, and paid no heed to warnings by staff. Although it is not considered as theft, the actions amount to criminal misappropriation. Those found guilty could be jailed up to two years, fined or be liable to both. - CNA/ck Sure Singaporean did it or FW.... cos I had seen prc women doing it... I take only what is needed and return the extra if not used (sugar or coffee mates) .....

Graduates working as maids in Shanghai SHANGHAI: In Shanghai, a small but increasing number of highly educated graduates are choosing to work as maids. As more expats and local talents relocate to Shanghai to live and work, demand for qualified domestic helpers is on the rise. The pay is attractive as qualified domestic workers can earn up to US$5 per hour, double the usual rate. Domestic workers caring for post-pregnancy women and babies typically earn more than US$900 a month. That is almost double the average pay of a fresh university graduate, which is less than US$500. Shanghai Women's Federation's chief Sun Mei E, said: "They see this as a sunrise industry. Hence, many are willing to come into this, especially college graduates and those with higher education. There is also a small portion of them who aim to set up their own domestic services company." Thirty-year-old Li Na chose to become a domestic worker despite objections from her family. She now earns up to US$2300 a month. Helping out in expat homes, she said learning to speak English and paying special attention to the needs of these foreigners adds value to her service. "I noted down where the Consulate General of different countries were as well as where they can go shopping or buy groceries. Some of them are only here for two or three years and will like to explore the country in the shortest time possible by making use of weekends. You can do research and share travel tips with them," said Li. What she offers is a far cry from the bulk of domestic helpers in Shanghai made up of migrants from rural parts of the country who may not have had much education. Some may have different perceptions of cleanliness and are not used to household chores in the city, such as the cleaning of carpets and washing of delicate clothes. To help them, the Shanghai Women's Federation organizes free training. Through a simulation of the home environment, students get a chance to experience the modern lifestyle in both a typical Chinese kitchen and a more western design kitchen. The students will also get to learn how to use more high technology electrical appliances. There are currently 500,000 domestic helpers in Shanghai.

Ever wonder why when someone posted something in a thread...it will somehow become political? Maybe it's because we read too much Yahoo! news that we cannot map the relation to the topics we posted But on a serious note, anyone noticed that Yahoo! news tend to be abit extreme at the other side of the coin? I find the Yahoo! news crew trend to be may a bit on anti-asian undertones...They're news usually put asian countries (including Singapore at time) in bad light.

The writer, See Leong Kit, was a Colombo Plan scholar. With all the statistics presented, I think Gerard Ee will have a hard time not to do something drastic to cut Ministerial pay to a decent and reasonable level, otherwise ... ..............................Enjoy To: Mr Gerard Ee Chairman, Ministerial Salary Review Committee From: Mr David L K See (63-year old tertiary-educated native-born S'pore Citizen, who had completed full- time National Service) cc: PM Lee Hsien Loong/Other Ministers Opposition MPs, NCMPs Political Commentators Contents Para 1 --- Quick Background/Summary of the Ministerial Pay Issue and the ensuing Public Anger. Para 2 --- Suggestions to address/defuse Public Anger. 1 World-Infamous Obscenely-Humongous Million-Dollar PUBLIC SECTOR Salaries in Singapore 1.1 Quotable Quotes: -- US President Barack Obama (BBC 11 Jul 09): "...No country is going to create wealth if its leaders exploit the economy to enrich themselves..." -- From a Financial Times article (TODAY 26 Nov 10): "...In a society that lacks political checks and balances, such waves of public outrage can develop a force rarely seen in democratic societies..." 1.2 Very Telling PAP Political U-Turns (confirming that PAP has lost its "moral compass"):THEN (Straits Times 21 August 1989 ) "To build a country, you need passion. If you just do your sums --- plus, minuses, credit, debit --- you are a washout." --- PM Lee Kuan Yew 18 YEARS LATER (Straits Times 5 April 2007 ) When it was put to him that people hoped for leaders who were willing to make sacrifices and who were not there for the money, he (MM Lee Kuan Yew) replied that these were "admirable sentiments but we live in the real world". NOW (Straits Times 22 May 2011 ) " Politics is not a job or a career promotion. It is a calling to serve the larger good of Singapore." --- PM Lee Hsien Loong 1.3 "Monkey Politics" in Singapore: PAP say: Pay PEANUTS and you will get CORRUPT Monkeys! S'pore Voters say: Pay BIG BANANAS but still get INCOMPETENT Chimpanzees !!! [ Just one example of INCOMPETENCE taken from a long list --- The Mas Selamat Great Escape Monumental Fiasco, which led to Singapore (and its Prime Minister) becoming a laughing stock amongst the International Coalition Against Terrorism ] "Monkey Antics" of Singapore Political Elite: I scratch your back, you scratch mine. I cover your butt, you cover mine. 1.4 Main Bug-Bear of many Singaporeans is the HIGH COST of LIVING --- arising from high cost of government; high cost of homes (both HDB and private); high cost of healthcare; high cost of transport (both private transport and public transport), etc...... HIGH COST of GOVERNMENT in Little Red Dot Singapore: (a) A BLOATED CABINET comprising an extravagant entourage of one Prime Minister, one Minister Mentor, two Senior Ministers, two Deputy Prime Ministers --- followed by 15 Ministers, 10 Ministers-of-State --- plus 4 Parliamentary Secretaries, 5 CDC Mayors and 82 PAP MPs [ Parliament set-up, prior to 2011 GE ] (b) A BULGING BLOATED BUREAUCRACY with 9 Organs of State, 15 Ministries and 64 Statutory Boards. NOTE: The high cost of this Top-Heavy Government is paid for NOT from PAP Party Funds BUT from PUBLIC FUNDS (i.e. the hard-earned monies of S'pore Taxpayer-Voters collected through numerous taxes/dues) 1.5 PAP Government's World-Infamous Double Records: (a) PM Lee Hsien Loong confirmed as "World's Highest-Paid Politician" by Economist/Financial Times. (b) All the world's Top 30 highly-paid politicians are found in SINGAPORE (in PM Lee's Cabinet, of course!). 1.6 Singapore's fat-cat ministers getting fatter each year: BASIC Annual Pay (Source: Straits Times reports) President's pay: $2.6m(2006) $3.2m(2007) $3.9m(2008) [ THIS MUCH for a largely ceremonial post (shaking hands, kissing babies, cutting ribbons, opening Keppel Bay bridge, attending charity functions, hosting state dinners ....) ??? ] PM/MM/SM pay: $2.5m(2006) $3m(2007) $3.8m(2008) DPM pay: $2m (2006) $2.5m (2007) $3m (2008) Minister pay: $1.2m(2006) $1.6m(2007) $1.9m(2008) [ Current MP Allowance (for a part-time job!) = $13,500 per month ] [ PM Basic Pay = $3.8m per year = $320,000 per month = $10,000 per day ] [ Minister Basic Pay = $1.9m per year = $160,000 per month = $5,000 per day ] 1.7 Justifiable/Understandable Anger of S'pore Voters: (a) We, Singaporeans, Not DAFT !!! Neither are we uncivilized nor barbaric to expect our Politicians/Bureaucrats to work "for free" or to survive on "fresh air and love of the people". We will readily support adequate/reasonable remunerations. BUT the above figures are not just humongous but obscenely-humongous salaries, going by both local/international PUBLIC SECTOR standards !!! (b) How could tiny Singapore's PM be earning six times the pay of the American President and ten times that of the Japanese PM and the Australian PM ??? [ All the latter three Heads of State are governing very big countries with large populations, and very complex political/economic/social issues. ] If Singapore's PM screw up, only S'poreans will suffer. But if the American President screw up (and presses the wrong buttons), the whole world (including little red dot Singapore and its entire Lee Family) could go up in nuclear smoke !!! © Are we paying TOO MUCH for TOO LITTLE transparency and accountability ??? Do we really have a "visionary and competent" Government or just "grossly over-paid" Politicians/Bureaucrats ??? With such obscenely-humongous public sector salaries, how can these PAP politicians ever earn the "moral authority" [much less the respect] of S'poreans to govern this tiny island nation ??? [ "People do not always hate the rich. People hate those who are immorally rich."--- Mr Qiu Liping, professor of social stratification at Shanghai University. MYP 16 Dec 09 ] 1.8 AN IMPORTANT NOTE: (a) The above-stated mind-boggling SINGLE-DIGIT MILLIONS represent just BASIC Annual Pay i.e excluding mid-year bonus, year-end bonus, Performance Bonus, GDP Bonus, CPF/PENSION

http://newpaper.asia1.com.sg/news/story/0,...,185404,00.html? THEY had colourful explanations for the missing green-and-white labels. DISBELIEF: Mr Daniel Ng stores the CNG labels in his car. He did not believe The New Paper team when he was told he is required to display them. TNP PICTURES: JONATHAN CHOO One driver removed the stickers from his car because they were ugly. One said someone had stolen his. And another said that his label had fallen off due to repeated washing. Drivers of compressed natural gas (CNG) vehicles are required to display the palm-size label on the front and rear bumpers, but some are not doing so. Not only are these drivers breaking the law, they are also risking their lives - and that of their rescuers - in the event of an accident. The Land Transport Authority says that the purpose of the label is to alert Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) officers when they respond to accidents or fires involving CNG vehicles, to ensure that appropriate procedures are taken. Taxi driver Reik Lien. When contacted, Lieutenant-Colonel N Subhas, SCDF's director of public affairs, said that its officers need to observe certain operational procedures that are unique to CNG vehicles. He said: 'For instance, firefighters will need to first take an additional precaution by turning off the manual shut-off valve at the head of the CNG cylinder, which is located in the vehicle boot. 'This will prevent any gas leak that may pose a problem when firefighters carry out operations which require breaking or cutting, such as incidents which involve casualties that are trapped in a vehicle.' There are about 3,200 CNG vehicles in Singapore, out of a total vehicle population of 872,000. An LTA spokesman said that so far, no one has been caught for not displaying the labels. Limousine driver Edwin Ng, whose Mercedes-Benz has the initials for natural gas technology. $1,000 fine Since 20Oct, offenders can be fined $1,000 or jailed three months under the Road Traffic (Motor Vehicles, Registration & Licensing) Rules. Those with labels which are defaced, torn or do not meet the dimensional and colour scheme requirements face the same penalty. Repeat offenders can be fined $2,000 or jailed six months. Still, many were unaware of the importance of displaying the labels and the penalties if they were caught for not doing so. Designer Vincent Lim. During a one-hour period at the Smart Energy CNG refuelling station at Mandai Link last Friday, The New Paper team spotted seven out of 25 vehicles which did not have the labels. Another three vehicles displayed the label only on the front bumper, and one of them was driven by cabby Paul Tan. The 46-year-old said: 'I know we're supposed to place the label on the front and back of the car, but the label on the back bumper of my car fell out during a car wash.' The Smart limousine cab driver said he gets his car washed every day. Mr Tan, who has been driving the CNG vehicle for two months, said: 'I'll definitely have to get a new one from the office soon.' Another Smart limousine cabby, Mr Reik Lien, 56, said he was aware of the requirement. But he claimed his labels were stolen, 'probably by other CNG car drivers'. Mr Lien has been driving a taxi for three years. So why didn't he get new ones? 'I haven't had time to collect them from the office yet. It would be better if we could just pick up the labels from here,' he said, pointing to the counter inside the office at the refuelling station. CNG labels are provided by the original car agents or workshops that convert cars to run on CNG. They also provide replacement labels to customers when asked. Two workshops The New Paper spoke to provide the labels for free, while one workshop charges $8 for a pair. Other drivers, such as Mr Maurice Lim, 41, said they did not know they were required by law to display the labels. Mr Lim, a sole proprietor, said: 'I bought my car about four months ago and I wasn't given any labels. The workshop employees didn't tell me it was necessary. 'I even sent my car for an inspection and nobody said anything. Anyway, just take a look around. There are always about five out of 10 cars that don't display the label. 'That's why I didn't think it was required.' Mr Vincent Lim, 33, was equally clueless about the rule. The designer said: 'I saw that all the luxury cars, the Camrys and the Mercedes-Benz cars, didn't have any labels, so I thought it wasn't necessary. 'I just did the same thing. I removed the labels from my car.' Mr William Chua, Smart Energy's general manager, observed that many of the vehicles that do not display the labels tend to be Mercedes-Benz cars. 'The drivers think that it's okay not to display the label because the cars have the letters 'NGT' on their boot.' The letters stand for 'natural gas technology', which means the cars operate on CNG. Indeed, that turned out to be the case with the owners of the Mercedes-Benz E200 NGT cars The New Paper interviewed. When asked why he had a label displayed only on the front of his car and not the back, contractor Danny Tay, who is in his 40s, pointed at the silver letters 'NGT' on the boot of his car. He said: 'Actually, there's no need to put the CNG label because people will know that my car is a CNG car when they see the 'NGT' here. 'Anyway, the CNG labels are quite ugly. They should have a slightly more attractive design.' Mr Tay's Mercedes-Benz E200 NGT is the only CNG car that comes direct from the factory. Other CNG cars have petrol engines and were retrofitted to operate on CNG as well. Echoing Mr Tay's view was another Mercedes-Benz E200 NGT owner, Mr Edwin Ng, 50, who works as a limousine driver. Mr Ng, who paid close to $170,000 for his car, said: 'Isn't 'NGT' enough? What's the point of putting 'NGT' then?'

Hi guys, lately there's this thing on seat belts... for me, when i was a kid, my parents car didnt have a seat belt in the rear seat. then when i sat in my relatives car, it was always so fun for me to belt up, cos for me, it feels so " secured", like something holding you. now, i always belt up when i drive. and i make sure my passengers do. which can lead to arguements at times cos they'll be like " WONT GET CAUGHT LAH". cos i don like to say " bad things", so just say " hey, better belt up, later police catch we all kena".. but in reality, *touch wood*, i noe it it will save a life. what really pisses me off is that, i knew a girl, b4 i met her, she didnt like to belt up. when i met her and she rode with me, i made sure she belted up, and it became a habit for her. then later on when she went to ride in her friend's car, they laughed and jeered at her when she belted up.. like " wahh, now so kiasu ah". these pple are bloody childish to me.. anyway, what are your opinions? Cheers
