With the current Subaru Forester (launched in Q1 2013), 2 years old and the most popular Subaru car in 2014, I'm surprised that I can't even find a thread on it, so I'm starting one here. Are there any recent buyers who would like to share their views or recent purchasing experiences? http://www.sgcarmart.com/news/article.php?AID=12527 Motor Image Enterprises, the exclusive distributor of Subaru in the region, announced that Subaru vehicle sales in Singapore grew by 210 percent in 2014 (January 2014 - December 2014), jumping from 201 units in 2013, to 623 units in 2014. The award-winning Subaru Forester, which was launched in the first quarter of 2013, is the highest-selling Subaru vehicle in Singapore. Growth was also experienced across various markets with Taiwan and Malaysia experiencing a 44 percent and 24 percent increase in sales in 2014 (January 2014 - December 2014) respectively. At the same time, Consumer Reports, an independent organisation that publishes reviews and comparisons of consumer products, announced that Subaru won the Consumer Reports Top Picks of 2015 in three categories. In addition, Subaru was ranked 5th overall in the automotive brand ranking. The Subaru vehicles that won the Top Picks of 2015 are as follows: Compact car: Subaru Impreza Mid-sized sedan: Subaru Legacy Small SUV: Subaru Forester

The all-new 2017 Impreza debuts the Subaru Global Platform architecture that's designed to deliver significantly higher levels of driving pleasure, agility, crash protection and ride comfort and will underpin a variety of upcoming Subaru vehicles, including hybrids. As before, every Impreza is equipped as standard with Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive, a boon to driving agility and traction and a key advantage over front-wheel drive competitors. The roomier 2017 Impreza models also debut the brand's new design language and new driver-assist technology. Also new, multimedia features including standard Apple CarPlay™ and Android Auto™ and standard Near Field Communication connectivity debut on Impreza. The new Impreza will be available in base, Premium, Sport and Limited trim lines when it arrives in Subaru dealerships in late 2016. Subaru's new design language puts the brand's signature hexagonal grille and hawk-eye headlights onto a more sculptural body, its athletic stance accentuated by prominent wheel arches and flowing lines. The dramatic new look carries into the cabin, with an outward-flow design that follows the front of the car. The 2017 Impreza rides on a 105.1-in. wheelbase, up 1.0-in. over the last generation Impreza. Both the Sedan and 5-Door are 1.6-in. longer than the outgoing models, and both are 1.5 in. wider. The larger dimensions create a roomier cabin, while a 0.4-in. lower height helps improve aerodynamics with a lower coefficient of drag. Although sleeker in appearance than the previous models, the 2017 Impreza Sedan and 5-Door preserve excellent all-around visibility. The new Subaru Global Platform, together with the Boxer engine, Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive (AWD) and EyeSight® that represent Subaru's core technologies, constitutes the basic foundation of the next generation of Subaru vehicles. Impreza's new platform incorporates new frameworks with optimized cross sections and highly stiffened joints between structures to significantly enhance straight-line stability, agility and ride comfort while suppressing noise, vibration and harshness to a degree not seen in the compact class. Specifically, the new platform increases rigidity of the unitized body structure by over 70 percent. A lower center of gravity and revised suspension systems contribute to the biggest-ever leap in Subaru's performance evolution. The double-wishbone independent rear suspension mounts its rear stabilizer bar directly to the body, which helps reduce body roll by 50 percent compared to the outgoing model. Greater hazard-avoidance capability is another benefit of the Subaru Global Platform's inherent handling agility. In addition, the resolute straight-line stability that makes the 2017 Impreza more relaxing to drive is also an important constituent of the autonomous driving capability this platform can support in future Subaru vehicles. Taking full advantage of the new stiffer platform and more powerful engine, the Impreza 2.0i Sport, now available in the Sedan as well as 5-Door, delivers a more fun-to-drive performance feel thanks to exclusive suspension tuning, 18-inch machine-finish alloy wheels and Active Torque Vectoring. Subaru aimed for a new ride/handling balance benchmark in the compact segment. The Sport also includes a new 4-way Tire Pressure Monitoring System, which is available on other models. Exclusive exterior styling and features setting the Impreza Sport apart include standard LED daytime running lights (DRL), black-finish front grille, body-color rocker panels and turn signal side mirrors. The Impreza Sport 5-Door features gloss black rear gate trim, while the Sport Sedan has a rear trunk spoiler. Inside the Sport, unique black cloth upholstery is trimmed with red stitching, a motif that repeats for the steering wheel, gear shift, instrument panel and door trim. The instrument panel incorporates exclusive Sport gauges and a Multi-Function Display. The Sport comes well equipped, with upgrades over the Impreza Premium that include the Subaru STARLINK™ 8.0-inch touchscreen multimedia system, and a new harman/kardon® premium audio system is available. Keyless Access & Push-Button Start, aluminum pedals, leather-wrapped steering wheel and shift handle and a CVT shift boot round out the Sport's enhanced standard equipment. A revised version of the FB 2.0-liter 4-cylinder Boxer engine gains direct fuel injection and other enhancements to boost both performance (now 152 horsepower vs. 148 before) and drivability. In highline trims, the Lineartronic® CVT (continuously variable transmission) features a 7-speed manual mode function with steering wheel paddle shifters that allow the driver to control the transmission via seven pre-set ratios. Subaru designed the 2017 Impreza to provide even higher levels of safety than the outgoing model, which was named an IIHS TOP SAFETY PICK and a TOP SAFETY PICK+ when equipped with available EyeSight® Driver Assist Technology. The new platform underpinning the 2017 Impreza improves crash energy absorption by 40 percent over present models. The EyeSight® system includes Adaptive Cruise Control, Automatic Pre-Collision Braking and Lane Departure and Sway Warning, plus a Lane Keep Assist function. Blind Spot Detection and Rear Cross Traffic Alert are also available. Also new are available Steering Responsive Headlights, which can illuminate curves as the vehicle steers into them, and High Beam Assist, which automatically activates and deactivates the high beam headlamps based on driving conditions. All 2017 Impreza models include as standard equipment front seat side impact airbags, side curtain airbags and a driver's knee airbag. The 2017 Impreza adds new driver-assist technologies, including Reverse Automatic Braking and the display of steering lines for the standard rear vision camera. Reverse Automatic Braking can apply the vehicle's brakes if an obstacle is detected while reversing. A new 4-way Tire Pressure Monitoring System can detect pressure drops at individual wheels. Subaru STARLINK™ Multimedia systems offer the latest in digital music playing, Bluetooth® wireless capability, iPod® control, smartphone integration and more. The display screen also provides the display for the standard rear vision camera, and the top-level system includes navigation. The available Subaru STARLINK™ Safety and Security Connected Services give the 2017 Impreza one of the industry's most affordable telematics options. Depending on the package selected, features can include SOS Emergency Assistance, Enhanced Roadside Assistance, Automatic Collision Notification, Maintenance Notifications, Monthly Vehicle Health Report and Diagnostic Alerts, Stolen Vehicle Recovery Service, Vehicle Security Alarm Notification, Remote Lock/Unlock, Remote Horn and Lights and Remote Vehicle Locator.

A long overdue model in Subaru lineup. Still as good as before? Subaru of America introduced the all-new 2022 WRX with the most advanced features, design, and performance in its nearly 20-year history. The fifth-generation rally icon is powered by a new 271 hp 2.4-liter turbocharged Subaru BOXER® engine that is paired with either a 6-speed manual transmission or new automatic transmission. With available high-definition tablet-style 11.6-inch SUBARU STARLINK® Multimedia system and latest generation EyeSight® Driver Assist Technology, the 2022 WRX delivers greater performance, technology, and safety than ever before. Also new for 2022, the Subaru WRX adds a new top-of-the-line GT trim with a new automatic transmission, the Subaru Performance Transmission, as standard. The new WRX GT offers a first-ever for WRX, new electronically controlled dampers that can tailor the dynamic performance to the driver's preferences with Comfort, Normal, and Sport settings. The Drive Mode Select also offers additional options to configure steering feel, damper settings, SI-Drive settings, and more, with up to 430 different customization options. For the first time, the WRX is built on the Subaru Global Platform, which offers increased safety, improved dynamics, and reductions in noise, vibration, and harshness (NVH). The 2022 WRX will be available at Subaru retailers in early 2022. But before fan boy rejoice, as usual, the press photos will typically shown the top spec trim. For entry level WRX, you will get this screen instead... You have been warned.

Source: https://www.motor1.com/photo/6953185/2023-subaru-rex/ It's essentially a rebadged Daihatsu Rocky and revives a name last used 30 years ago. The Subaru Rex debuted in 1972 as a rear-engined kei car with rear-wheel drive that was followed by a second generation in 1981 that switched to a front-mounted powertrain and FWD. The Japanese automaker transitioned the pint-sized vehicle to the Mk3 model in 1985 with supercharged engines before pulling the plug in 1992. The Rex is back for 2023, and this time around, it's not a Subaru per se since we're looking at a rebadged Daihatsu Rocky. Also sold as the Toyota Raize and Perodua Ativa, the subcompact crossover is much bigger than the three Subaru kei cars before it. The third-gen Rex is 3995 millimeters (157.3 inches) long, 1695 mm (66.7 in) wide, and 1620 mm (63.8 in) tall, with a wheelbase measuring 2525 mm (99.4 in). Although the Rocky is sold with an optional all-wheel-drive system, the Subaru version is strictly front-wheel drive. Power is provided by a naturally aspirated 1.2-liter gasoline engine rated at a mighty 87 hp (64 kW) and 113 Nm (83 lb-ft) of torque. The three-pot mill sends its muscle to the front axle via a continuously variable transmission. It's worth mentioning Daihatsu also sells the Rocky with a more potent turbocharged 1.0-liter engine with 98 hp (72 kW) and 140 Nm (100 lb-ft) but it's not available for the Subaru Rex. While the engine seems anemic, the Rex is a light car considering it tips the scales at less than 1,000 kilograms (2,200 pounds). Subaru is confident the three-cylinder mill is capable of delivering "powerful and smooth acceleration" while providing excellent fuel economy. There are even driving modes available for what will primarily be a city car. Available in G and Z grades, the new Rex starts at 1,820,000 yen (about $13,000 at current exchange rates) and rises to 2,171,100 yen ($15,600) for the better-equipped model. Subaru doesn't project it will be a huge seller as the target is to move only 150 cars per month. I must say, Toyota & Subaru have gotten really close knitted ya? hahaha.

TL;DR – A Subaru Legacy recklessly speeds through morning traffic and weaves through tight pockets of space between cars. Ends up side swiping a Toyota Wish causing a jam on the PIE during morning rush hour. It’s 8am and you’re on the way to work. The morning traffic is not too bad and you look like you’ll make it to the office with little to no hiccups. But, life is funny and loves to throw you a curve ball every now and then. In this case, it’s in the form of a Subaru Legacy with a driver that has shit for brains. Watch the viral video here: Crazy driver This minute and a half (ish) video starts by throwing us straight into the action. A Subaru Legacy with a roof pod comes charging in from the left side of the cam car and can be seen aggressively switching lanes. It then hits a car, loses control and comes to a halt at lane 1. Is there a profile for roof pods? I don’t know about you readers but most of my friends who are considering to install roof pods or already have roof pods installed are married men with kids. Roof pods can give your car an additional 300 to 600 litres of cargo space - Which is space you’ll need especially if you have children. And as you can see from a quick search on Google, some of them don’t come cheap. Really hope the driver’s children were not in the car though. Sway la, the Wish An image of the damage to the Wish was also uploaded along with the video. I’m pretty sure it was more than the Wish but the video footage of impact is quite blur and it happened really quickly. There seems to be another stationary car on lane 1 (besides the idiot) that was affected by this incident. Online Chatter Somehow the PIE happens to be prone to traffic jams for some reason. Not to mention the driver’s “maybe” children in the car. Yeah lo. ========= Be the first to get the latest road/ COE news and get first dibs on exclusive promos and giveaways in our Telegram SGCM Community. Join us today!

Source: https://www.motor1.com/news/573042/subaru-wrx-sti-officially-dead/ Friends, it's time to pour one out for arguably the most iconic rally racer of them all. Those of you patiently waiting for the next-generation Subaru WRX STI better sit down, because it's not coming anytime soon. If ever. In a surprise announcement, Subaru confirmed that the STI would not return with the new WRX. For that matter, the automaker is rather vague on the STI's future as well, stating that "Subaru Corporation is exploring opportunities for the next-generation Subaru WRX STI, including electrification." The statement goes on to say, unequivocally, that a next-generation STI with an internal combustion engine "will not be produced based upon the new WRX platform." Bummer. The surprise is certainly real, because we've reported on rumors regarding the next-generation STI for some time now. Last July we heard a 345-horsepower (257-kilowatt) STI was under consideration, but hell, forget the rumors. In January 2022, Subaru stormed into the Tokyo Auto Salon with an S4 STI Performance concept all decked out with wings, red trim, and STI badging. We figured it was a glimpse of something coming later this year, and you know what? perhaps it was. Subaru's STI statement is just three paragraphs long, but it opens with a rather telling passage about electrification and meeting the needs of a changing marketplace. Between the previous STI rumors and the STI concept from just a couple of months ago, it feels like something of an about-face as opposed to a long-term product plan. We contacted Subaru in hopes of getting a bit more backstory, but the automaker offered no additional comment. Regardless of the intent, the reality is that the WRX STI as we know it is dead. The first version appeared in 1994, packing 247 horsepower and catapulting the modest Impreza to superstar status in the World Rally Championship. The US market wouldn't get the hopped-up Impreza WRX until 2002, with the STI coming in 2004. Of course, Subaru separated the Impreza and WRX in 2014, but had we known our stint in the 2019 STI 209 would be our last internal-combustion dance, we might have savored it a bit more. Will the WRX STI be revived with electrification in a next-generation package? Subaru leaves the door open on that front but stops short of an official confirmation.

TL;DR – A cam car driver took to social media to shame a Subaru WRX for playing a brake check game with it. The driver even noted down the number (7 times) of brake checks performed by the WRX. Plot twist, the cam car driver isn’t so innocent either. The Facebook Post on SGRV Upon watching the video and reading the caption, one cannot help but think negatively of the Subaru WRX. Then you watch the video again, and you realise there’s more to it than what you see at face value. Here’s the video. The spark that fueled the fire Upon realising it was on a right-turn only lane, the cam car driver cut into the path of the WRX. Perhaps cam car didn’t signal its intention? Perhaps cam car did an abrupt lane change? Perhaps cam car was too near the WRX? Could be a myriad of reasons. But we can conclude that it triggered the WRX to act. Not just once, but SEVEN times On Count 7, cam car pretends to drive on a right-turn-only lane to throw the WRX off and changes lane at the last minute, but the WRX was ready for it and abruptly changed lane too. Online Chatter Sounds legit. Yes, both of them were driving recklessly. No argument about it. Schooled by a WRX. Naise. Very close. But, while most people would honk at cam car and calm their inner beast, the WRX driver went another way. When you post a video as a victim, but people call you out as one of the culprits. That’s golden. ========= Be the first to get the latest road/ COE news and get first dibs on exclusive promos and giveaways in our Telegram SGCM Community. Join us today!

SG road vigilante hated by so many car owners but their cbness is on another level 👀 This wrx was one of those that changed their sgcarmart listing to 488 after the AE86 went viral See who got the last laugh now https://www.channelnewsasia.com/singapore/5-people-arrested-after-viral-video-dangerous-driving-along-cte-2552116 SINGAPORE: Five men suspected to be drivers involved in a recent episode of late night dangerous driving along the Central Expressway (CTE) were arrested on Wednesday (Mar 9) by police in an islandwide operation. In a widely circulated video captured by a motorist’s helmet camera video, a convoy of vehicles was seen hurtling down the CTE during the wee hours of Feb 27. Acting on the video footage, the Traffic Police conducted investigations and established the identities of the drivers. They conducted a raid on the persons involved in the early hours of Wednesday morning, with operations continuing well into the day. During the operation, nine vehicles were seized for further investigations. The men arrested were aged between 22 and 33. As part of the raid, the Singapore Police Force (SPF) allowed reporters to observe the towing of the drivers’ vehicles and the arresting of the suspected drivers. At about 7.30am at a multi-storey car park in Punggol, a red Subaru Impreza WRX that looked similar to one of the vehicles in the video was towed after officers conducted checks.

Are you familiar with those 'guai lan' drivers that speed up to prevent you from changing lanes or merging by blocking you on purpose? I swear this type of driver infuriates me. Watch this video and witness an 'instant karma' moment for one such driver: What Happened? The accident occurred along the Seletar Expressway (SLE). The cam vehicle was travelling on lane 3, the left-most lane of SLE. Despite a white Subaru Forester attempting to merge into SLE, the cam vehicle decided not to give a hoot about the white SUV and continued travelling alongside it. As the Subaru driver sped up to merge in front of the cam vehicle, the cam vehicle 'coincidentally' accelerated too. This manoeuvre by the cam vehicle prevented the Subaru SUV from merging into the SLE and forced the SUV to drive on the road shoulder before merging onto the SLE. Instant Karma in 3, 2, 1... After witnessing the Subaru's alarming actions, the lorry in front of the cam vehicle panic-braked in a moment of folly. As a result, the cam vehicle could not react in time and ended up 'kissing' the back of the lorry. If you consider the height and angle of the dashcam, the cam vehicle is likely to be a commercial vehicle. Therefore, I highly question the actions of the cam vehicle. Is there a need to be so 'guai lan'??? Look what it got you - Your just desserts. Oh, don't forget those repair fees and demerit points as well! Netizens' Comments Cam vehicle driver post online to show it's the Subaru's fault due to it driving on the road shoulder and its tinted tail lights😰 What a way to start the new year! I am starting this new thread/topic on Subaru EyeSight as there have been many discussions among the Impreza, XV and Forester forums, and many Owners are cautious about having solar film fitted to the front windscreen. I collected my SK Forester last week and has been exploring the EyeSight system since then. Let's start with MI disclaimer whereby buyer has to put his/her signature on the declaration form. In my opinion, the disclaimer is very relevant. Why is this so? The EyeSight system allows the driver to drive with it OR to manually switch-off either lane-departure detection or pre-collision braking or both features altogether. The 2 switches are located on the cabin roof, above the rear view mirror. In other words, Subaru (or anybody else) will not know whether the EyeSight was in operation should a front collision occurs. Also, EyeSight will not work above 60 km/h (+ / - ). What will happen if a crazy driver drives at high speed and crash his Subie and then seek legal compensation from Subaru for the "defective" EyeSight system. I am sure all other car manufacturers that offer driver assist crash avoidance system will insist buyers to sign the Disclaimer form. At the end of the day, the driver is still fully responsible for the vehicle safety, not technology. To be continued ...

If you think you have seen this car before, you are not wrong. This electric SUV from Subaru is a badge-engineered Toyota bZ4X. In developing Solterra, the brand's first battery electric vehicle (BEV) to be launched globally, Subaru aimed to exceed the various customer expectations for BEVs and make it a practical vehicle so that customers can choose it comfortably and confidently, as the vehicle will be the cornerstone of Subaru's future BEVs. At the same time, as a Subaru SUV, Subaru aimed to make it a vehicle that existing Subaru customers can feel that it truly is a Subaru. By filling it with new values that a BEV can offer and the value of "enjoyment and peace of mind" that Subaru have cultivated over many years, Solterra has been built as an authentic SUV in an environmentally friendly package that can be used with peace of mind like the existing Subaru SUV models. Exterior and Interior The seamlessly shaped hexagon grille expresses the energy efficiency of a BEV. The body with the horizontal axis starting from that hexagon and the dynamic fenders bulging out from the inside show the strength as an SUV. Low instrumental panel and top mounted meters, a first for Subaru, located on the instrumental panel and visible above the steering wheel realized the spacious interior. e-Subaru Global Platform Utilizing the know-how cultivated with the highly recognized Subaru Global Platform, we have jointly developed the e-Subaru Global Platform together with Toyota Motor Corporation as a BEV-dedicated platform. The e-Subaru Global Platform enables a driving experience with superior driving dynamics, that brings high stability and handling linearly responds to driver's steering operation. High capacity battery packs are placed under the floor as it is a BEV, and by utilizing that battery as a part of the structure, a low center of gravity and high body strength and rigidity are realized. Driving Performance/AWD System Subaru Solterra has adopted a new system that drives the front and rear wheels with separate motors. Taking advantage of the expertise in AWD technology precisely controlling the four tires that Subaru has accumulated over many years, the agile response of the electric motors and the flexible driving force distribution between front and rear, Solterra fully utilizes the grips of the four wheels and offers a driving with confidence and peace of mind. Like the other Subaru SUV models, Solterra features the X-MODE AWD control system that enhances the sense of security on rough roads. By adding the new Grip Control function, which enables the vehicle to run at a constant speed while stabilizing the vehicle even on rough roads, the capability is further enhanced. Safety By devising the skeleton shape of each part of the body and optimizing the material strength, Solterra achieves both weight reduction and superior collision safety at the same time. In the event of a collision, the structure that transfers the load to multiple body skeletons efficiently absorbs the collision energy. It protects not only the vehicle occupants, but also protects the high-voltage equipment in the BEV. Solterra is the vehicle which takes an important role for Subaru, the company aiming at "delivering happiness to all," to face the challenges of global warming and climate change and continue to deliver smiles in the future. The vehicle has been jointly-developed by Toyota and Subaru, which entered into a new business and capital alliance in September 2019. They brought together technologies and knowledges that are expertise of each under the slogan "Let's make ever-better cars together" and the engineers of both companies developed it together while engaging in a friendly rivalry. The launch of the Subaru Solterra will start by the middle of 2022 in the markets including Japan, the United States, Canada, Europe and China.

Source : http://www.carscoops.com/2014/07/2015-subaru-wrx-sti-is-most-technically.html 2015 Subaru WRX STI is "The Most Technically Specialized Car" for Under $40,000 Think of a car that provides more performance and capability in one single fairly-affordable package than the Subaru WRX STI. In Europe, there may be some alternatives, but for US buyers it really is the most technically specialized car for under $40,000, as CNET’s Brian Cooley points out in this review. Its interior is still about a decade behind the competition, but then again this could be thought of as a character-building feature of the car, and not a true negative point – it will feel quite dingy if you’ve just stepped out of a luxury limo, but otherwise you should be able to live with it. Buying and driving one of these is worth it for the experience of having so much control and grip within easy reach, with handling limits that can be gently and progressively approached. Subarueven went ahead and ignored the electric power steering trend and gave the STI a proper hydraulic rack – that alone should make some enthusiasts really happy… By Andrei Nedelea

2022 Subaru WRX STI To 'Push The Performance And Technological Boundaries' source: https://www.motor1.com/news/459684/2022-subaru-wrx-sti-push-boundaries/ But there's still a lot we don't know about the performance sedan. We’ve been patiently waiting for the new WRX and WRX STI, but it’s the end of 2020 and we don’t even have spy shots of the performance sedans. We do have an idea regarding how it will look since the dynamic duo is expected to take after the JDM-only 2021 Levorg wagon, and especially the STI Sport variant. To ease the wait, Subaru through its Australian division is starting to talk about the speedy four-door cars on the occasion of delivering the 10,000th WRX STI in the Land Down Under. Talking about the spicy version of the two sedans, Subie mentions it “is certain to push the performance and technological boundaries still further” than its predecessors.” That’s not saying much, is it? But at least it’s a sign the reveal is fast-approaching. According to the latest intel, the WRX will allegedly premiere in April 2021 before going on sale later that year. Come June 2022, the WRX STI is expected to follow with more of everything. Both are rumored to share an Ascent-derived turbocharged 2.4-liter boxer engine producing as much as 400 horsepower and 490 Newton-meters (361 pound-feet) of torque in the STI. The go-faster sedans have been a long time coming, especially since Subaru first alluded to the styling direction the WRXs would take nearly three years ago. Remember the Viziv Performance STI concept? It debuted in January 2018 at the Tokyo Auto Salon as a sharp-looking sedan with an engine Subaru refused to talk about along with blacked-out windows to hide the interior.
