"Cars from Toyota look boring." I am not surprised if you have heard something like this before as I have heard it many times. When Toyota stopped offering several sporty looking models roughly ten years ago, many people have mentioned that the Japanese automaker's cars after that look a little dull. "The company wants to improve its car design into its future models. Toyota already has good reliability in manufacturing cars but their design has been rather weak. Our cars are frequently characterised as 'appliances' and the automaker wants to turn that around," explained Kevin Hunter, President of Toyota's CALTY Design Studio. Hunter further explained that they will act more instinctively by listening to what consumers want but not only by listening to what they want as consumers do not know what they want in five years time. The company has to make some predictions on how the designs will be like. It was the sleek, aggressive and good looking Scion FR-S (Scion

Mercedes-Benz plans on introducing a new set of modifications for their line of cars. The MercedesSport program will first be available on the E-Class Cabrio, Coupe, Estate, and Saloon once the aero kit is unveiled in Geneva next week. Amongst the available options are new 18-inch light alloys in glossy black and silver. A new front apron, front spoiler, and matching side skirts are available as well as roof and decklid spoilers. The new rear apron looks like it includes a cosmetic diffuser. These items are "add ons," and not a replacement to the original body parts. Sports brakes with grey calipers and a stiffer, sportier suspension are also options. The new suspension includes short springs that drop the car by 15mm. A perforated leather, four-spoke steering wheel, paddleshifters, and stainless steel pedals and entry sills are all optional upgrades.

A study was recently done by J.D Power on the factors influencing car buying decision. The study was conducted from more than 24,000 US buyers of 2011 who made their purchase in 2011. Although the study was not done in Singapore, there are some interesting points that local consumer and distributors can take note. The study found that word-of-mouth is typically a critical factor in the choice a car buyer makes, yet conventional wisdom about which brands have the best quality may be sorely out of date. The study found that 40 percent of buyers said they steered clear of one brand or another because of what they had heard about quality, rather than actually checking for the latest data.

Hi Bros, Anyone know where to get the Fabia styling kits? My friend is driving a Fabia 1.4 (M), black and like to install the bodykit. What about AutoVox? I was told AutoVox is quite X. Any advice? Cheers. Rgs.

Hi there, 1. After driven Jap car(Civic-VTI) for a while, felt that its economical in term of fuel consumption, part and accessories are cheaper and easily obtainable. Performance is no worse than conti either. Pick-up is good. 2. When I look at the upgrade path to a Jap 2.0L car, there aren't many exciting choices: a) Honda Accord - Its has nice styling and power, basically a grown-up Civic and a natural progress path. b) Subaru Legacy - Nice styling too, voted best jap car of some years. Don't know much about it though. 3. Are there other Jap cars that are worth looking at? Camry styling is too conservative and the V6 engined Cefiro doesn't seem to be meant for car enthusiastist. What do you guys think? Regards,
