  3. I am happy to have met Ah Siong formerly from Hankook again. Got a good price for my Varta Battery and he corrected the battery installation which was screwed up by previous installer. It could have short circuited or started a fire as I was told. He is now with ACE Battery & Tyre Pte Ltd Blk 28 MidView City #01-141. Tel: 6659 2289 Thumbs up for good service and price!

  6. For LITE & EASY TCSS discussion only. Which govt ministry do you think is the easiest to run? What about the hardest? If given a choice, which ministry would you want to take charge of? I am guessing the easiest to run may be Mindef. On paper this is an important ministry but in reality things are quite peaceful with our neighbours. In the event of national incidents, our first line of defence is probably MFA anyway. So running Mindef is quite routine, just making sure people enlist or take IPPT on time, then buy some new toys for NDP. Toughest is more difficult to say. MOF can cause economic downturn with the wrong policy. Sometimes you even get sabo by kayu neighbours. Transport ministry deal with problems on a daily basis but solutions take years to implement. National Development is the same case as transport. Given a choice, Ministry of No Portfolio sounds nice.
  7. I normally go to Sheng Siong at West Coast & Serangoon North for seafood for steamboat. Need advice on which one of Sheng Siong's outlet in the east side has the largest selection?
  8. anyone living near these wet markets? the HDB has said that there are some other wet markets in those areas. so you dun have to put up with the price increase if you are willing to travel a bit further. pity those stall holders. tougher to make a living. some may call it quits if business is no good
  9. Sheng Siong rises rent at 5 wet markets by 30% By Sharon See | Posted: 23 March 2010 2000 hrs Photos 1 of 1 SINGAPORE: Stallholders at five wet markets will have to pay 30 per cent more in rent from next month. They have been informed of the increase by supermarket chain Sheng Siong, which bought the markets over from a private property developer late last year. The five wet markets are in Choa Chu Kang, Bukit Batok and Serangoon. Currently, they pay about S$2,000 to S$3,000 in rent. Many stallholders feel that the 30-per-cent increase is too high, and a few said they may even give up their businesses. Some are thinking of passing the costs to customers but are also worried that this would hurt businesses, especially in the face of competition from other wet markets and supermarkets. Sheng Siong said it had no choice but to increase rental rates, as it had to pay bank interest fees, property tax and maintenance fees after buying over the five wet markets for about S$25 million. - CNA/yb What they mean by No Choice......if they don't buy...no need to pay any interest and tax... Wanna pass it to the storeholders just say so... End of the day..consumers suffer....KNN...

  11. Got 11-mth old pearl white Civic. Like most, did following routine weekly, but as time goes on, it is becoming fortnightly. 1. Wash (and clay once a blue moon) 2. AIO (Jeffs Werkstatt) 3. Sealant (Jeffs Werkstatt) (My aim is not to shine (hence didn't do wax LSP), but for water beading, protection, smooth. If got shine, it is just a by-product.) Always, this is a more than 3-hr job. By the time step #2 is done, my back is already breaking. End of the day, the result is satisfying, but the cost (time n effort) is on the high side. (read SIONG!) Being 11-mth old, I've minimal swirls marks, etc. and in my mind, machine polisher, etc is for removing swirls marks and other heavy-duty wax job. Where I'm coming from, it's to reduce my manual labor in the weekly wash/clean/sealant routine. I am thinking, can I invest in some polisher/buffer machine, or something (sorry maybe wrong technical term but I'm noob in this area) to reduce some of the "eat-strength" work? There is a thread discussing AC (220V) polisher but can someone put it in some kind of layman's start-up guide from pure manual labor?
