  1. Starting a thread to consolidate the sharing of SIM-only plan experiences and lobangs. Still 1 month+ left on my current M1 SIM-only contract and looking at what other players (telco and MVNO) are offering. Came across Zero1's 6u plan which seems pretty competitive, so putting this plan on my radar screen.

    just rcvd a letter from opennet saying that my unit can subscribe to fibre broadband services already. so anyone already using fibre ? how is the speed compared to the present cable or ADSL ? i am considering M1's 25mbps pack at $39 since its the cheapest of the lot and also since all 3 ISP lists their international speed at 15mbps only.

My kid phone number, tagged to me, was charged for over 200+ global SMS to the following numbers: 447937980269 886907444460 886907444429 886907444464 at the following time: 19-Jun-22 11PM to 20-Jun-22 at 10 AM. This was informed to me after I have sent enquiry to Singtel. But at that time, My kid was asleep in our room already and definitely not playing with his phone or anything. I also checked his phone for these 200+ messages to no avail. Unfortunately, Singtel was not able to do anything about it at all. And he definitely do not know anything about these global SMS. Who uses SMS nowadays anyway? I will be less surprised if it is some form of online purchases, but global SMS? Anyway, Singtel say they cannot help on this and just ask me to monitor the device messages. I suspect the SIM data being hacked but they also ignored this.

Temasek-backed tech venture launches new rewards platform for everyday shopping Members of yuu Rewards Club can earn one point for every dollar spent at more than 1,000 participating places, including Cold Storage and Giant supermarkets. SINGAPORE: With a new rewards platform launching on Thursday (Oct 27), shoppers in Singapore could soon use a single app to redeem rewards on everyday spending at Cold Storage, Giant, Guardian, Singtel and BreadTalk Group F&B outlets. The yuu Rewards Club is a free platform created by minden.ai, a tech venture founded and backed by Temasek. DFI Retail Group, which operates Cold Storage, Giant and CS Fresh supermarkets as well as the Guardian and 7-Eleven outlets, also has a stake in the venture. On the platform, members can earn 1 yuu point for every dollar spent at the more than 1,000 participating places, said minden.ai in a press release on Wednesday. Every 200 yuu points can be used to offset S$1 on purchases at participating outlets, said CEO of minden.ai Sng Ren Yeong. The points can also be used to redeem deals and rewards from the participating brands. For example, 10 yuu points could net you a small hot coffee at Toast Box. Individuals who opt to save up for bigger redemptions could use 2,400 yuu points to redeem a free month of HBO Go subscription with Singtel. There will be no cap to the number of yuu points that can be accumulated. “The yuu Rewards Club was created to give consumers greater choice, convenience and flexibility, such that we can reward them for their everyday purchases,” said Mr Sng. “We hope to allow consumers to accumulate and earn points as they shop everyday purchases and be able to redeem them for meaningful rewards across this network,” he added. According to a survey of 1,000 Singapore residents, 60 per cent of them said they were increasingly looking to join a loyalty or rewards programme to save money, said minden.ai in a press release. “It is also opportune that this platform addresses the everyday purchase habits for consumers, and we are happy that we are doing our part today to help consumers stretch their dollar to offset some of the inflationary pressures that they face in today’s inflationary environment,” said Mr Sng. 72 per cent of respondents were looking for cost savings on purchases, and two-thirds of respondents wanted the ability to redeem points on everyday spending, the survey showed. Participating outlets and brands include Cold Storage, CS Fresh and Giant supermarkets, Guardian and 7-Eleven outlets. The yuu platform can also be used at the Mandai Wildlife Reserve parks - the Singapore Zoo, the Night Safari, River Wonders and Jurong Bird Park. Members can also earn yuu points at BreadTalk, Toast Box, Food Junction, Food Republic, Food Opera, Butter Bean and Thye Moh Chan, as well as on Singtel products. There are also offers specific to each brand. For example, if customers use the yuu platform at Giant, they could redeem offers like double the number of points on fresh vegetables and fruits, laundry items, rice, milk and cream, and triple the points on Meadows brand items. All of these offers can be stacked in the same transaction, and will automatically apply when individuals shop at the participating outlets, said Mr Sng. “We are happy to welcome more partners to come on board. Today we have some of Singaporeans’ favourite household brands that really are very consumer-centric in prioritising to reward their consumers. We hope to welcome more brands in time to come that equally focus on consumers as well,” said Mr Sng. To start earning yuu points, consumers need to download the yuu app, which is now available on the Apple App Store, Google Play Store and Huawei App Store. After they register for their yuu account, they will have a unique ID. Before paying at participating partners, they should scan their unique QR code or barcode. Members can see their point balance on the app and use the points to offset purchases or redeem rewards. Cashiers at the participating outlets have been trained to assist consumers who may be interested in joining the platform, said Mr Sng. Responding to a question on why minden.ai opted to focus on rewards and offers over cashback, Mr Sng noted that different consumers have different preferences. “Some consumers prefer cashback discounts, others prefer to accumulate and earn points so they can redeem it for meaningful rewards,” he said. “You may use your points to offset purchases, but if you save and accumulate them to a certain amount, you may find a reward for which there’s a big discount for, that you can redeem your points for,” he added. When brands know about the demand for such rewards, they may also be able to purchase them at a cheaper price or deliver these items at a greater scale, he added. As customers interact with the platform over time, minden.ai hopes to leverage technology to personalise the rewards, said Mr Sng. “If we understand both the consumer preferences as well as what’s available within our partner inventory network, they can reward the consumers in a much more meaningful way by making the rewards not only relevant but rewarding as well,” he added. minden.ai has also partnered with DBS and PAssion Card on the platform. DBS will launch a new DBS yuu credit card on Thursday, and these users can earn up to 30 times the points when they shop and make payment with this card at partner stores. Individuals who have a PAssion card or PAssion POSB debit card can also link their cards to the platform.   7. HungryGoWhere Thanks Supporters Ahead Of Website Closure On 12 Jul Despite being self-professed foodies, some Singaporeans can be quite indecisive when it comes to choosing a place to eat. In such situations, food recommendation websites are a godsend. However, on Tuesday (7 Jun), HungryGoWhere – one of Singapore’s pioneer food sites – announced that they’d be stopping operations in about a month’s time. Their last day of service will reportedly be on 11 Jul 2021. HungryGoWhere to stop operations after 15 years Announcing the move, HungryGoWhere thanked Singaporeans for their support over the past 15 years. The food site said they were proud to have served the community and hoped that they have improved users’ dining experience.   8. Hi everyone, My house Mio Bundle is up for recontract. Have been using Mio bundle since Mio first started 4 or 6 years ago. Whole family are long time customers of Singtel. Current Mio Bundle is $100+ per month with 4 phone 30% discount. all 4 phone havent recontract since contract was up 1 or 2 years ago because of the 12 Gb data plan. My Mio TV is permanently offed as we dun watch TV. Looking at what Singtel is offering now, if i recontract any of the phone, they will be offering me 25% discount only and all the phone plan contracts are more expensive. I am looking at the Singtel S$79 300mb Mio Bundle Plan. I was thinking of changing my whole family's phone to M1 since my father have this 300MB M1 fiber plan for his hse. And M1 is offering 30% discount for all moblie plan under this fiber. As for my house internet, I am thinking of either getting M1 fiber or My republic fibre. However, I was told that a survey done by IDA revealed that for 100Mb, Singtel offer real 95Mb but M1 only 70Mb. Can anyone advice me on service( i.e coverage and speed) of the fibre plans and mobile of each company? Thank you!
  9. Currently i am paying $48 for 26GB of data, 100 mins talk time at Circles Life. This new mid tier plan by Starhub not bad. Talk time 300 mins. And also no contract. Think shortly Singtel and M1 will announce similar plans. SINGAPORE: Local telco StarHub on Wednesday (Dec 5) announced three new SIM-only mobile plans which it said come with “extra large data bundles”. The mid-tier S$50 SIM-only plan, for instance, offers customers 30GB of data a month, with free incoming calls and 300 minutes of local talktime. Caller number display and international roaming – previously chargeable as add-on services - are included free of charge. The first 10,000 customers to sign up will get an additional 10GB of data every month for a year as a “launch bonus”, said StarHub.   10. How to call for help? I called Singtel 1688. Put me to voice message and claimed to call back in 2 hours. I left 2 messages at 7pm+. No sound from them. at 830pm, called again and this time... "voice message is full. Thank you for your call!" This is customer service from SINGTEL. Home home line is not working since this afternoon. got ring if I call in but phone not ringing. But my mio TV, using the same phone link is working. So, physical line should be fine. I have 2 phones. 1 cordless and 1 analogue corded phone. Both also not ringing and no dial tone. What else could be the root cause?

Singtel has partnered AIA to launch a new wellness platform called StepUp. It’s part of the telco’s My Singtel app and is available to postpaid Combo, XO and SIM-only customers. Customers will earn points based on the number of steps they take daily. The more steps, the more cumulative points will be awarded. The maximum number of points per day is 100 for 10,000 steps. A customer who achieves a daily goal of 10,000 steps a day for a month will get 3,000 points, which is equivalent to 3GB of local data. Someone who gets between 5,000 and 7,000 steps daily for a month will earn 1,800 points, which can be used to redeem 1GB of free data worth 1,000 points. Yuen Kuan Moon, CEO, Consumer Singapore, Singtel said: “We want to encourage healthy lifestyles and wellness, and with StepUp, customers will be rewarded for their efforts to keep fit. We are always trying to find ways to offer customers products, services and perks to complement their digital lifestyles. Our partnership with AIA marks a shared commitment to champion the importance of staying active for life.” The platform will also offer lifestyle rewards from AIA and other partners, on top of wellness, fitness and nutrition content. To start their journey to health (and other rewards), customers only need to log into their My Singtel app, activate StepUp and sync their steps from their smartphones. They can then keep track of how many steps they have taken.   12. Singapore to start 5G roll-out by 2020: Iswaran SINGAPORE plans to start rolling out fifth-generation mobile network technology, or 5G, by 2020. Minister for Communications and Information S Iswaran confirmed the market's timeframe expectations on Monday, in a move that he said was "to maintain Singapore's competitive edge in connectivity". The Info-communications Media Development Authority (IMDA) "will launch a public consultation shortly" on regulatory framework and policy issues such as spectrum allocation, Mr Iswaran added. He was speaking at the Committee of Supply debate in Parliament, in a reply to a question from MP Ong Teng Koon (Marsiling-Yew Tee GRC) on the Republic's digital infrastructure capabilities. "The digital economy - streaming services, e-commerce and cloud computing - is built on the assumption of uninterrupted access to the Internet," Mr Ong had said. "Loss of connectivity can have potentially catastrophic business consequences ... What are our plans to ensure that our digital infrastructure is able to support our growing digital economy?" Mr Iswaran told the House in reply that "we aim to ensure that we have future-ready and globally competitive digital infrastructure, which is the bedrock of our digital economy". The minister noted that 5G is expected to be as much as 100 times faster than the present 4G systems, with up to 25 times lower latency or lag time, and as many as one million devices supported within one square kilometre - that is, 1,000 times denser than is now possible. "5G has the potential to fundamentally transform our businesses and the way they operate," said Mr Iswaran, pointing to "its capacity to handle many high-demand applications simultaneously". These could include network connectivity for self-driving vehicles, industrial automation and the Internet of Things, and nationwide sensor networks, he observed. Singapore's three incumbent network operators - Singtel, StarHub and M1 - have all kicked off 5G trials with industry partners, including a 5G pilot network in the one-north district, by Singtel and Ericsson. Combo 6 and up now got promo: 24 months free HBO GO But in this case HBO GO is supposedly through Singtel Cast. What I take that to mean is I can only watch HBO stuff via the Cast app. Anyone got experience with this? If I get the HBO GO add-on though Singtel can I watch it independently?

  15. Previously, Starhub had some extended service downtime, and did customer recovery by giving affected customers access over multiple channels for a particular day. Now, Singtel has this fire incident and is now doing customer recovery by giving customers speed boosts and access to multiple channels. My point is simple - they have got it all wrong. As a customer, I subscribe to channels I want and the speed I best need. When the incidents happened, I was DEPRIVED OF THE SERVICE I PAID FOR. There is no point giving me speed boosts and even access to all/multiple channels to make up. I don't need these at all! Rather, they should proportionately reduce the bill payable for that particular month, simply because I failed to get what I paid and signed a contract for. In addition, for customer recovery, they can choose to throw in some sweeteners, which can include speed boosts and free channels. What the telcos are doing now for customer recovery is simply cheapskate and completely wrong. CASE and the IDA should fight for justice for the hapless consumers who have to take whatever are thrown at them. That is the right thing to do.
  16. i know there was a brief discussion here before but couldn't find the thread. I am already with SNBB but quite fedup with the problem that i have with the ADSL and analog lan phone which i think was due to the old estate. Hence i don't mind taking up the new exstream package. however i would like to know how messy is the cable would be like? current i am using 4 homeplugs, 1 for mio tv and in 2 rooms which is quite neat. but i heard the router singtel fiber use is not compatible with the homeplug, and the N wifi router is good enough for all my need (about 6-7 devices connect to internet + mio tv). Any kind soul who has sign up for this service can advice me that what they claim is true? Thanks!
  17. ok, I went through the homepage and conclusion I have is singtel charges $10.70 per GB of excess data. my plan gives me 3gb of data + 1 gb of data (CIS) = 4 gb. but when i opened my bill last night, i saw my data clocked about 4.5gb but there was an additional $30 for the excess 0.5gb data !? when you hit 90% of you data, ST will send a warning SMS ... i did not get that. i will usually check on the last day of my billing cycle (Singtel app) and i am sure i only clocked about 3.4gb at the end of the day. anyone got wrong billing by singtel before ?

  19. The scam has spread to Singapore! Do check your SingTel bill for $24 monthly subscription to Buongiorno Gamifive. It is a scam! I have never heard of the company beforehand and have never subscribed to their service. If you have not yet been scammed, you may want to take a few minutes to call your service provider to activate Premium Rate Services (PRS) Barring Service to protect yourself from the crooks and save yourself the hassle of having to spend hours to call them to reverse the charges.

  21. Currently need to change my singtel 3G mobile broadband to 4G because singtel is no longer offering 3G plan. Is it worthwhile to change the 3G dongle to 4G dongle to benefit the speed offers by 4G plan. I need for the laptop for use in the CBD area. I understand the download speed may vary from area to area. I use it for email, surfing and watching youtube. 4G dongle is not cheap slightly over $100. Is there a significant difference to the download speed for my usage to justify spending the money for a 4G dongle? Thank you for your input.

  23. Here we go again another fine, left pocket to right pocket. How does this help the viewing public who suffered the brunt of the disruption? Its just another revenue collecting opportunity for MDA. And SGD90k is not even coffee money for singtel. The other issue is that after many years of negative reception and multiple "failures to launch" sinktel has dropped MioTv brand and instead adopted a new name "SingtelTV". Fer me this is old wine put in new bottle. Why even bother? In the past sinktel simply bundled the hidden cost for MioTv subscription to internet subscribers and forced us to accept this er "free product" as part of the ISP package.   24. anyone facing fees problems when your broadband internet contract reaches maturity? eg, I had to pay a termination fee to SH when my contract matured ... but they waived it after they called me. what about the subscription fee following the maturity of your contract ? eg, special fee of $40 (after 60% discount) but last day is 31 Mar ... then when you bill come for Apr, you find out they started billing you for the full rate of $100/mth. I am still waiting for my SH bill to see because I did lapse a few days after the maturity as I was waiting for the landline to be ported.
