Traffic Police: Keep sending photos, videos of errant road users By TAN TAM MEI There are millions of smartphones in use in Singapore, and the Traffic Police (TP) hopes to harness them to help police the road, said TP Commander Sam Tee yesterday. "(The) TP welcomes the public to send (traffic) violation photographs and videos because it's much more powerful," he said. "If we can harness and crowdsource that... it will go a long way to help us build a more disciplined culture among road users." The Assistant Commissioner of Police (AC) was speaking to reporters at the release of the annual road traffic statistics at TP headquarters in Ubi. AC Tee said the TP receives close to 500 submissions a month of videos, photos and tip-offs regarding traffic violations or errant road users. "We continue to welcome that, and we are also looking into how to make it easier for people to submit information to us... BEING WATCHED "There are a lot of cars with in-vehicle cameras, so it's easy. When you spot someone beating the red light, you can just download it and send it to us via e-feedback," he said. These submissions have played a part in deterrence and making road users more aware that they are being watched by others, he added. The TP has also deployed a new mobile speed camera (MSC) - the first one was installed on Monday at Seletar West Link. The MSC can detect up to 32 vehicles over a reach of five lanes at any time and is able to transmit images to TP headquarters automatically, eliminating the need to reload and retrieve wet-film negatives. It also has its own batteries and can be deployed in just one week, compared to existing fixed speed cameras that take six months to set up. AC Tee said: "To be fair, preceding the cameras we will have warning signs to tell people that there's a speed camera in front, please slow down. "So our idea is not to fine him, but the idea is to deter him from speeding. And if he slows down, he saves his life and saves the lives of others." If we can harness and crowdsource that... it will go a long way to help us build a more disciplined culture among road users. - Traffic Police Commander Sam Tee on public participation http://www.tnp.sg/news/singapore-news/traffic-police-keep-sending-photos-videos-errant-road-users ----- So what are you waiting for? Hi Folks, If I intend to send some money (e.g. S$10k) from Singapore to a relative in USA who is holding a Bank of America account, what would be the method which would provide a good conversion rate with minimum administrative charge? Or is there any other way which is quick and cheap? Thanks for your advice.

Dear Bros/Sis, I have sent LTA a list of 'bumpy roads' few years ago asking them to do something. They responded and some improvements were made to the bumpy roads, not 100%, but still better than nothing. Its time to send another list now. Hope you guys can help list the bumpy roads you have encountered (locations/maps) and I will compile them and write officially to LTA. Many thanks. 1. Telok Blangah Rd towards city, just after the junction of Sentosa Gateway, about 10m pass the front of Citiport Centre (below the viaduct). Recent patched-up surface is bumpy, not even safe for bikes. 2. 3. 4. etc

Hi Guys, I got a quick question: here's some background info: I got a shipment due to Russia. So from my factory in China, i will be shipping the goods to another warehouse in north china where the forwarder there will be doing the paper work for the entry into Russia. Now, I have another batch of goods down here in Singapore and my client told me to send it via regular air mail as Russian Customs hate Fedex and will not let them pass through. I checked with Singpost and price of airmail is too crazy. I have a corporate acct with Fedex and its cheaper. Now the thing is, I can send the singapore goods directly to the warehouse in China where the forwarder will handle the paper work? Anyway, anyone with experience on this? as in, will china customs give me problems? the items i'm sending are small accessories that themselves were made in china Thanks in advance guys Cheers!

Has anyone tried sending videos of reckless drives to the TP? I just did and waiting for a response. I Was driving on PIE second lane at 90kmph. Came up to a slower car and I overtook via lane 1 about 95kmph after signalling.. whilst on lane 1 ..a very fast old Honda Civic with black bonnet came really close behind me and tailgated while flashing ... i signalled left and he kept tailgating and honking.. I admit i was pissed and slowed down to 90kmph.. he kept tailgating really close... for about 3 mins and decided to overtake from lane 2 and cut abruptly into my path jam braked really fast ..pointed middle finger and drove off.. All these was taken by my DIY video camera stick mounted on my dashbord.

Before CNY, i had sent my car for polishing service using Meguair products. From then until now for about 5 days already, i have yet to wash my car. Can experienced bros here advise me how to maintain the polish shine of my car? Here are some questions... 1. Can i use car shampoo (ie. BlackMagic Car Wash that is clearcoat & wax safe) or just water will do to wash the car? 2. After washing of car, shall i apply QD to it or sealent to it? Which QD or sealent is best for used on top of Meguair wax coat? (Glaze, Autoglym, Klasse, Zaino, Soft88, Turtlewax, Armorall, Black Magic or OCW?) 3. If i kana a birdshit bomb, how am i going to get rid of it and at the same time maintain the wax as some bros had mentioned that certain BS will eat into the wax. Regards.
