How is it that it takes a 24 year old to galvanized the people of this nation! She has come to be the one we believe in now. She is the one to give us the voice. She is not just the 'alternative party', she represents the aspirations of our future!

In gist, she resigned from NSP and she has no intention of joining Tan Jee Say's Singaporean First party. http://www.zaobao.com.sg/realtime/singapore/story20140829-383121 佘雪玲证实退出国民团结党 (联合早报网讯)在上届大选崭露头角的佘雪玲证实退出国民团结党,同时表明不会加入上届总统选举参选人陈如斯新成立的国人为先党。

SINGAPORE - National Solidarity Party (NSP) member Nicole Seah sent out an appeal through Facebook on Nov 5, calling for more volunteers to provide tuition to needy students. According to Ms Seah, the scheme was set up in May this year, for needy students living in the Macpherson area. The session is held every Saturday, for two hours, reported the Shin Min Daily News. Click here to find out more! Students, ranging from those studying in primary to secondary schools, have to pay a $30 fee, which is used to purchase teaching materials. "Under special circumstances, we will also absorb the fee," says Ms Seah. The scheme started out with only 15 kids, but the number has been increasing steadily. They now have 40 students registered under the scheme. Most of them are primary school pupils, but secondary school students have also come forward to enquire about the scheme. There are plans for expansion as well, says Ms Seah, who has received enquiries from parents living in the Marine Parade GRC area. There are currently only eight to 10 volunteers tending to the 40 students. Hence, they are hoping to recruit more volunteers in order to reduce the student to tutor ratio, which will benefit the students. After her post, many netizens left messages on her Facebook page, expressing their interest in helping out. But many were worried that they do not possess the experience nor qualifications to tutor kids in the academic subjects. But Ms Seah says the main aim of the tuition classes is to inspire students to believe that they can still do well in their studies, despite their family circumstances. She says the effort of the kids and volunteers have paid off. In the recent year-end examinations, many students reported a marked improvement in their results. http://www.edvantage.com.sg/edvantage/news...ee_tuition.html Kudos to Nicole

Well Said, nice not sure whether u all read it...:) ******************************************************************************** ****************************************** My friends, my fellow Singaporeans, We may have lost an election but tonight we have rediscovered something so much more valuable - the pride of being Singaporeans. My fellow party members and I began all of this because we felt that we needed to speak up not just for you, but also ourselves. The competition has been robust; sides were taken and things were said. But now that the contest is over, we must come together as one country and work to build that future we want. When we choose our leaders, we ask of them not just their industry but also their judgment. We may not always agree with our government, but it is our responsibility to engage them in intelligent debate so that policies made in our name serve the common good. Tonight our hearts are with Mr Low Thia Kiang and the Worker's Party. They have made political history in Singapore and they have made us proud. For the next 5 years, we will depend on them to be our voices in Parliament. We are comforted that we will be well represented. The great joy we feel at the election of the Worker's Party is matched only by our profound sadness at the exit tonight of two great men from the political scene. We want to pay tribute to Mr George Yeo, the outgoing Foreign Minister. Not since the tenure of the late Mr S Rajaratnam has anyone defined our foreign policy like Mr Yeo. A soldier, a scholar, a statesman. And to top it all off, a perfect gentleman. We hope that he will consider a run for the Presidency later this year. We believe he will be another peoples' President and we cannot think of a better person to continue representing us to the world. We also want to express our gratitude to Mr Chiam See Tong who together with the late J B Jeyaretnam fought for ordinary Singaporeans at a time when it was much tougher for opposition politicians. Mr Chiam, all Singaporeans owe you a debt of gratitude and we salute you. We will carry on the work you began. And so my friends, in closing I just want to remind all of you that while the votes have been cast and tallied, the work has just begun. We know the kind of Singapore we want - we have been talking about it for months now. The time for talk is over; lets get it done. Sincerely, Nicole Seah NSP Candidate for Marine Parade GRC GE 2011

http://www.todayonline.com/Singapore/EDC11...tinue-Lows-work Mr Seah Yin Hwa, 25, fourth year, NUS, Engineering: Q: "I'm from an SMC (single-member constituency) where the majority of the people in my constituency decided to pick a "teochew nang" (Teochew person, Mr Low Thia Khiang) who doesn't wear a white uniform. When it comes to upgrading, what's being told to us is we do not have the funds to go ahead with lift upgrading and shelters for the bus stops. I look over across the road, to the Aljunied GRC and they have everything." PM Lee: "Low Thia Khiang says he has no difficulty funding the lift upgrading programme...your question is, why is the opposition ward not treated at least as good as or maybe even better than the PAP ward? And the answer is that there has to be a distinction because the PAP wards supported the Government and the policies which delivered these good things. All the basics apply to everybody, your roads, your trains, your houses, your schools, hospitals, your security and defence." Phui. I cant believe our PM say these words. You are not fit to be our PM.

My brief take on the 377A Penal Code .by Nicole Seah (佘雪玲) on Tuesday, April 26, 2011 at 1:46am.A number of people have asked me about my stand on Penal Code 377A which criminalises homosexuality, because of the current situation with Vincent SDP. My personal take on this is very clear. But it is not in line with many parties' stances apart from SDP, because it is a touchy topic. Singaporeans should ask themselves this - Regardless of whether you are homophobic or otherwise, do you think it is right to say that these people have committed a crime, being who they are? Do you think that we need a law to cast a darker shadow over the way they live, in ADDITION to the current stigma that is already prevalent throughout society? Many have argued that passing such a law will dilute the nuclear family unit. As I mentioned before, reality is not as simple as rhetoric. Item A will give you Item B in a mathematics formula, but reality is such that there are so many other factors at play. Think about it. So what is eroding the fabric of society? Is 377A even as big a problem as it is made out to be? Single mums not being entitled to benefits that nuclear family units have, which may partially contribute to hindering their child's upward mobility in comparison to kids who grow up with better resources. Low-income families, having to wait for 8 months before getting a rental flat in Dakota Crescent, because there is no space and flats originally set aside for low-income families are being leased out to foreigners at a $1500 profit. Exorbitant housing prices, which are deterring young couples from settling down. Bureaucratic red tape and demand outstripping supply that makes it frustrating for young couples to apply for a flat to settle down. I personally know of a couple who had to go through 7 rounds of rejection before getting a flat. Whether you are a diehard supporter of the current Penal code, or if you buy into the argument that repealing this code will have a direct causal effect to erode the fabric of society, do take some time to think about what you have observed around you as a Singaporean over the past few years. .As referenced from : https://www.facebook.com/notes/nicole-seah-...141136845957395
