Hi guys, I noticed there are many drivers who never turn on their headlamp at all as there are backlit in their meter gauge and DayLight, I have encounter 2 vehicles on the same day. Guess that is the basic when you drive on the road and what was taught when you went to learn driving, just don't understand why drivers can forget to turn on headlamp.

S’porean Shares Tips On How To Budget, Claims He Can Save $15,000 A Year source: https://mustsharenews.com/budget-tips/ S’porean Shares Tips On How To Budget, Now Has Extra To Spend With Savings For many young people, goals such as buying a BTO flat or going on faraway holidays mean saving up on hard-earned cash. Arguably, much of our savings can be attributed to our spending habits. A Singaporean shared tips on Facebook for how to save $15,000 a year. Beware though, there are some luxuries that are hard to sacrifice — for example, if you’re a frequent bubble tea drinker, you might find this post difficult to read. Bye bye Starbucks and Koi In a Facebook post, a Singaporean shared that his weekday meals used to cost about $10, but was able to halve his meal costs by keeping them to $5. He did this especially by not ordering drinks or sides, and skipped upsize meals. This is reasonable enough. After all, a plate of cai fan rarely exceeds $3.50 if you order more veggies and keep the meat dishes to a minimum. If you feel like treating yourself, a McDonald’s burger – ala carte, without drinks or sides – still fits the bill. However, the real killers are high-end beverages like Koi or Starbucks, which can cost north of $7.50 for a venti-sized beverage. Instead, the man says kopi or teh peng should be your new best friend to beat the heat as they cost around $1.50. Making such tweaks to his weekday spending allowed this Singaporean to save about $120 per month. It also helps that you’ll cut down on that sugar if you choose to do the same. Savings per year: $120 X 12 = $1,440 Skip dining out and the theatre for budget tips In the age of Netflix, watching movies has become more affordable than ever. The netizen said 2 weekend movie tickets for both him and his girlfriend costs $27 in total. Instead, the duo chose to subscribe to Netflix at $16 per month. Another money hack — cooking at home instead of dining out, he shares. By doing so, you can watch movies and dine from the comfort of your home. Sounds like a cosy weekend to us. In total, this Singaporean was able to save about $612 per month just by skipping the cinemas and restaurants. Savings per year: $612 X 12 = $7,344 Miscellaneous savings included in budget tips With the convenience of private hire car services, one may be tempted to take a Grab car instead of taking the bus. This netizen said he was able to save about $100 per month by opting for public transport. Similarly, food deliveries cost more than tabao-ing your own meals, with each delivery costing about $3. By going back to pre-GrabCar/Food times, and cutting away unused subscriptions, the OP was able to save $82 per month. Savings per year: $82 X 12 = $984 Splurging occasionally is fine If one tries a similar budgeting plan, about $9,768 can be saved. The Singaporean said his yearly savings amounted to about $15,000 when budgeting is kept in mind. With these savings, he says he didn’t have to feel guilty about splurging on the occasional Grab ride, Starbucks drink or dine out for special occasions. Budgeting for a better future or rainy day While these budgeting tips may not apply for everyone as we all lead different lifestyles, they do serve as inspiration for making subtle – or not so subtle – tweaks to our spending habits. Some of these expenses also add up over time, and we can definitely pay more attention to what we use our money on if there are savings to be made. We don’t have to completely push out life’s little luxuries, but sometimes, it wouldn’t kill to skip out on that venti Frappuccino.

Hi, my family have some saving with the foreign banks in sgp like Citibank, Standchart and etc. As you know, the current covid19 situation in these foreign countries are pretty serious. In facts, this pandemic is impacted the world economy and many big corporate names could be fallen. I dont know how bad could this pandemic goes around affecting the market becos I'm not an economist. But I knew that oversea banks are not bullet-proof too and they could also be collapsed which indeed it happened in other countries before. Not forgetting that the worst is yet to come. Do you think depositors like us with money in foreign banks are protected in Sgp?

Two brave men stepped forward to save five cats after a fire broke out in a unit at Block 257 Yishun Ring Road on Sunday morning (July 14). Stomper Francis, Kohji and Wati alerted Stomp to the incident and shared photos and videos taken at the scene. The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) told Stomp that they responded to the fire at about 10.10am. The fire involved the contents of a bedroom in a unit on the third floor and was extinguished by the SCDF using two compressed-air foam (CAF) backpacks. Two people were taken to hospital due to suspected smoke inhalation, a spokesman said. Preliminary investigations indicate a personal mobility device (PMD) was being charged when the fire occurred. "Two selfless heroes managed to rescue the cats before the SCDF arrived, getting injured in the process," said Francis, who lives a few blocks away from the affected block. "Five cats were rescued and one of them was, unfortunately, slightly burnt." His photos showed long scratches on one of the men's arms. He also shared a video of the men who were joined by other Yishun residents as they tried to put out the fire with water-filled buckets and a hose.

https://www.straitstimes.com/asia/australianz/father-and-son-in-australia-drown-saving-tourist-near-popular-spot-the-twelve Father and son in Australia drown saving tourist near popular spot Twelve Apostles MELBOURNE (AFP) - A father and son life-saving team drowned while trying to save a tourist swept out to sea near one of Australia's most famous sights off the south coast, officials said on Monday (April 22). Mr Ross Powell, 71, and his son Andrew, 32, died on Sunday after their life-saving boat overturned in the surf during the rescue of a 30-year-old man near the Twelve Apostles, a series of massive limestone stacks situated off the Victoria state coast. The tourist, whose nationality and name have not been released, had been wading at the mouth of a river when he got into trouble. He was winched from the water alongside a third lifesaver from the boat, who was seriously injured, by a rescue helicopter and taken to hospital, Victoria Police said. The bodies of the Powells were found in the water shortly after. The tragedy has rocked the small tourist town of Port Campbell where the two men came from, with Prime Minister Scott Morrison leading the tributes. "Surf lifesavers are selfless & brave. We thank them all for their service & extend our deepest sympathies to Ross & Andrew's family & friends," Mr Morrison tweeted on Monday. Surf Lifesaving Victoria president Paul James hailed the pair as heroes, and said the conditions had been rough and "not the place to be swimming". "It's just terrible, it's heartbreaking," he told reporters in an emotional press conference of the death of the dairy farmers and experienced volunteer lifesavers. "I understand the boat was operating in a 2m swell, so a very high swell, and we know that it is very treacherous down there... These brave people, these heroes, have gone out to try and help." Ms Amber Griffiths, the partner of Andrew and who local media reported was pregnant with their second child, wrote about her heartbreak on Facebook. "Today we lost two of the most beautiful people to ever exist - always putting others first," she wrote. "The love of my life, light of my life, father of my baby girl. My heart is broken. I miss you Andrew Powell."

Dear All, I came across this article and this is an innovative way to save our lives! Maybe this is the a way MCFers can campaign to use these in all cars. However, we need to be wary of personal details being left in the car. I am not sure if address is necessary. What do you all think? http://www.theboltonnews.co.uk/news/11540658.Police_come_up_with_imaginative_new_use_for_tax_disc_holder/?ref=mr POLICE have dreamt up a new use for the licence disc holders that every car carries on its windscreen - one which could save lives. The switch from paper tax discs for cars to the new electronic version has meant that the familiar transparent plastic envelopes have become obsolete - but PC Dave Wise and colleagues have thought up a new use for them. They have come up with an emergency contact information and medical alert card. PC Wise said: "This is a really useful replacement for your tax disc. if a driver is involved in a collision or has a medical emergency whilst at the wheel, a first responder will have easy access to vital medical information and we can quickly contact next of kin. "The way the disc folds in on itself means all the information is kept private until needed by emergency services personnel." The policing team, based in Malvern, Worcestershire, put the template for the form on their Twitter account, @MalvernCops. It can be easily printed out, cut out, filled in, folded up and placed in the holder. "We will be linking in with local ambulance and fire commanders to make them aware of this initiative so they can be on the lookout for these emergency contact discs," said PC Wise.

Straits Times Published an article showing that it is possible to save $100k with roughly 6 years of work. The key thing is You have to save at least 50% of your annual pay You got to live within your means and make sacrifices What I felt it misses out are Young adults have many other liabilities that make it practically hard to achieve this Housing, Wedding, Honey Moon, Student Loans Hence the need for sacrifices! How I did it I did a check on my Quicken (see another good reason to do budgeting!) and it showed that I was able to achieve that amount by 30. In fact seems a lot of folks can judging from what you read around. Then again I probably fit the profile of what this experiment did Single Cheap Hobbies Some sacrifices Near 50% saving rate I think I have it much harder since for 3 out of the 6 years my salary was less than the median salary provided. One note is that I only consider the amount that goes into Wealth Building Account as what the article considered. Other saving goals probably out of the equation. Some kids are even more absurd I know many smart young adults nowadays that are sensible enough to do one or more of the following Scholarships (study well!) Start working part time and accumulate Tuition and accumulate NS pay accumulate Start learning about money Some crazy dudes I know with that combination, will have $100k before he starts work at 25 years old. Why does this matter? If you would want to grow wealth By spending less building wealth Leaving more of your salary for escalating expenses You got to let time value of money help you. Here are 2 guys. One guy saves $1k per month from 25 to 35 years old then stops. The other guy starts late and only starts saving from 35 to 65 years old (30 years) At the end of the day, the guy that save for 10 years only uses 120k while the guy that starts late uses 3 times the amount. The difference is the guy starts late only manages to come out 40k ahead. Have a plan when you start working I can understand why folks had a hard time because some things weren’t taught in school but in life (sadly) If you managed to come across this article then hope this helps Its good to have a map that provides you a map how you want to spend your money. If you don’t have you can use the following as a guide. Start Thinking how much to funnel to savings and wealth building http://www.investmentmoats.com/budgeting/saving-100k-by-the-time-you-are-30-years-old/

Debt or Saving? Mr A said that, he is going to clear his debt by the end of the month which is $200 dollars he borrowed from Mr C due to cash flow problem. Mr B that explained, that Mr A is not with debt, because he have bought a car fully paid, he can simply sell his car to clear the borrowing. Therefore, technically, his net worth denied him as with debt. In fact Mr B explained that Mr A in not with Debt but with saving even if he owed Mr C $200. Simply because of his investment in car which can be liquified to clear that borrowing, and that assest is also considered a form of saving. Conclusions: - Mr A own a fully paid Car - Mr A owe Mr C $200 - Mr A bank acocunt have no cash Now The Big Question is : Which Catagory is Mr A? 1. With Debt, With Saving 2. With Debt, No Saving 3. No Debt, No Saving 4. No Debt, With Saving

I'm writing this thread becos it seem that right now in MCF there is 2 threads , though there were more previously which totally contradicts one another... On one thread, we have a thread starter who posted that he and his family need only spend $3000 excluding car and housing and everything is well and happy...there is even a hint that there is even some savings left thereafter. On the other thread, we have another who posted that he have a combined income of $6500 but have litte or no saving at all. There seems to be more of such ppl in the latter group in reality and I myself have noted that ppl will and have been spending more and owing more money, than they could ever earn in their lifetime. A very scary thing for me but not so for the younger set of ppl. I myself said that presently without at least more than $5000 monthly to spend excluding car and housing, there will be nothing left to save. Of course, I could be wrong cos I know of ppl who can save even when they only bring in about $2500 monthly and still have 4 kids and a wife to look after. So what is the fine art about saving and making do with what one can make monthly and still enjoy life to a certain extent? IT'S ALL ABOUT MONEY USAGE DISCILPINE AND TO BE CONTENDED TO WHAT ONE CAN AFFORD TO HAVE, TO A VERY REASONABLE EXTENT. I am not only talking about average bread and butter ppl who make around the $5000 more or less per month but to anyone. Of course, the much richer ones can afford to ignore this thread cos many issues don't really affect them in reality ( which is why the MIWs always talk as though issues affects them ..hahaha) but in Sinkland , it is definitely a much safer group to be in, to have saving to take care of one's own needs than to realise that one is practically living from hand to mouth or depending on a job to have an income just to survive. Cos in Sinkland one motto holds true regardless what crap the gahment is churning out... "YOU DIE ...YOUR OWN BIZ!" IF ONE RUNS OUT OF MONEY!

hi guys, Got a question to ask the folks who are into performance: How many KG of weight do you need to take off your car before you can actually feel the difference? for example, if u change your bonnet to CF hood and save like 10kg, can u feel it and how much does it help in your car's performance? OR if u have a light weight exhaust system? And for the people who are passionate about performance, how much weight savings in any single product would satisfy you? I'm just doing a little market survey :) Thanks in advance guys :) Cheers!

Though Economy is kicking back, we need to ensure we don't go back to our old spending habits and try our best to stretch every dollar of our hardearned money : We all can do some cost savings if we all contribute. I start first : 1. My family loves Shabu Shabu and eat about 2x per month (wanted more but we gotta eat moderately). We buy from Wholesale places like QB. They require minimum spend for Home delivery so The trick is to ask friends/neighbours who like beef, chicken, Cheese filled juicy Sausages to order together. Price/packet of Shabu beef slices = $6~7. In Supermarkets its $12~15 same pack. For Dinner my family of 5 eats 1 or 2 pack beef (depending on hunger level) + Veggies (Wong Bok, Golden Mushroom, Toufu, occassional TangOh if can find) + Japanese Rice/Soba + Ponzo Soy Sauce + Goma Sauce (that can be used for 3~4 meals) Total Damage = $15 ~ $21- or like $3~4/person If I eat out it costs $100.. Next.... 2.

the cost of the jazz is so high that the amt of saving in petrol deems insignificant. lets not talk abt branding etc cost of avante/forte merely cost 40-45k for 1.6l, the price difference of 15-20k btw these cars and jazz is so much...lets take avante as an example (1.6l, savings of 20k for S model) these 20k savings can actually be used to pump petrol for 2-3 yrs i guess....whereas for jazz almost 70k for 1.5l, 60k for 1.3l....the upfront cost is already so much, if to add in the petrol cost for the next 2-3 yrs, the overall cost will be abt 80-90k...so in this sense, jazz is a very expensive car which is fuel efficient but make no money sense at all..... can someone enlighten me?
