I had bought this vehicle from JDM Cars at Turf Club and also trade in my 3 year old Toyota Allion with them under the Sales person named ALAN SOO. It did not take me much consideration to make this purchase under the influence of the false claims, lies and fake claims from this ALAN SOO. At least, i would expect what was promised to me was followed up promptly and completed without my involvement or causing me inconvenience, nevertheless, i was dead wrong. This was his promise, also recollection of events that follows. 1. A three months warranty of the car of ANY defects. He said in the event of ANY problems, I just need bring the car to the MEGA AUTO SWIFT workshop at Sin Min Road 05-11, and they will honor any repairs, during the 3 months warranty period. He even promise that he will pass me the warranty letter on the day of collection of the car, but it did not happen. After weeks of ignored SMS, calls, and even went up to his office at Turf City to request for it. He reluctantly just emailed to me a copy of this so called warranty letter as in the attached, this was after the incident below happened on the 16 Dec 2011. One look at this warranty letter, i knew that it was signed and WROTE by ALAN SOO, and the contents if fill with errors and very ambigious. It had indicated that ANY wear and tear is NOT covered under this warranty. How to make a claim with this type of "warranty" contents? I asked ALAN SOO what is non-wear and tear in a car? and why Engine and Transmission is non wear and tear, he did not know how to answer. And the wear and tear clause comes about after this incident. Obviously, he is playing with words and treated me like a fool. On 16 Dec 2011 at 7am, I could not start the car, contacted AA to go to my house carpark to check, was told by the AA mechanics that it was the engine starter having a problem. Call up MEGA AUTO SWIFT workshop, the manager Ah Boon asked me to bring it down to take a look. arranged a tow truck, and towed it all the way from Jurong to Sin Min Auto Care. 05-11 Mega Swift Auto. Obviously, it had caused me inconvenience because i had to cancel all my business appointments. (Ironically, just a day before the problem, I was at the workshop to fix my bumper job, a job which the mechanics did manage to do well, after the fixing, my car could not start, as I was still at the workshop, ask Ah Boon to take a look, he checked and said the it was the battery problem. At this moment, my only thought to replace the battery asap.) Reached the workshop, the car mechanics checked and found that true enough, the Car Start has blown and needed to change. While they are working on it, Ah Boon came and immediately stop them from doing so because he said that its still not clear who is going to pay. Why did the workshop have to interfere in this anyway?I got to find out that Ah Boon is the close friend of JDM Car boss, so tat explains the inconvenience caused to me at their celebrated friendship! Immediately tried to contact JDM personel, Jason (the Boss), Chris (the Supervisor) and of cause Alan, but no one answered my calls. Finally manage to speak to Alan, he immediately told me he is not on 24 hours standby and have no obligation to answer my calls before 1030am, he said muttered that i can go ahead to complaint. anyway I told him my car problem, he said YES, it can be repaired under the warranty. I told him Ah Boon only listen to JDM. He said he will call Ah Boon and get him to proceed. Not sure what was their conversation, and to my shocking disbelief, Ah Boon said JDM said it was not cover under the warranty as it was wear and tear...this was the 1st time this word appeared from this entire commotion. I called JDM and managed to speak to Chris (the Supervisor) and he said he was at a meeting, and refuse to talk further. So I was left stranded, my car won't move without repairs, and I have a series of missed appointments, finally, after about one hour, Ah Boon told me that JDM said their will help to pay half of the bills and I have to pay half. At this moment, i was just thinking that, i need the car to go for my appointment, so I said I ONLY will agree to pay $200, but I will settle with JDM at a later stage. Why I chose to pay is because, they have left me with no choice. If I don't pay, no repairs will be done, my car will be stalled there. I was caught in a situation. Before the repair even start, Ah Boon told me that the price he check for a "BRAND NEW STARTER" was around $600 exclude labour. and suggest that I pay $300 now. I said NO way I am going to pay this extra amount, he called up Chris and after their conversation, he turn around and said that I have to pay half, and JDM will settle the rest. Then I told him, I only can pay $250 and that's it. Then Ah Boon instructed his mechanic to buy the parts and start the repairs. Sensing that they are just trying to trick me into paying extra money, I called up Chris, and Chris told me to pay only $200 and they will bear the rest. Though finally the repair was done, but it has already cause me much distress, frustrations and inconvenience and to me, the warranty was not warranted, because I have to pay for the repairs. 2. ALAN SOO also promised me a series of things that was not done, I have to followup closely and see it done one by one. a. One particular plastic bracket of my rear car seat was missing, which Alan said that it was broken, so he took it out, he will get one from "another" car to fix it back on the day of the car collection .IT DID NOT HAPPEN. When I ask him, he consistently told me that he had place the order and will "LET ME KNOW" once arrive. But I am very sure he did not do anything. After much waiting and frustration, I finally drove up to MEGA AUTO SWIFT workshop and request for it to be fix. Ah Boon told me an order need two month, and said that he will get from anther car to fix it for me, which he did. This was 15 Dec 2100. A day before my car stalled. 3. The Road Tax, Alan Soo told me that the road tax have been renewed and it will be delivered to me, but one week after collecting the car, it did not appear, I call up LTA myself and ask them to sent to me. 4. Broken Bumper Before I signed on the dotted line, I noticed that the front bumper lower portion was broken, so I told Allan to get it change before I officially collect the car. he told me NO PROBLEM, the bumper will fix BRAND NEW when I collect my car, however, on the day of collection, the bumper is still broken. Alan purportedly called up Ah Boon and after they speak. Alan told me its because Ah Boon wants to save money for his boss, so he just "TIE IT UP" to me the broken portion "NOT SO OBVIOUS", (But when I check with Ah Boon, he said it was Alan instructions to just "TIE IT UP" and make it look not so obvious) At this point, ALAN SOO said he will arrange for me to get it replace, and even fix a date on the 23 NOV 2011, and said that it will just need TWO hours to fix it. It was a working weekday, and I took a day off just waiting for this to be fix. And when I reach the workshop at 9am, to my horror, Ah Boon told me that it cannot be completed within one day, because they have to smoothen the "NEW BUMPER", (which is a secondhand set from another car) and then match the color of my car. and told me that I can only come one day later to collect, or alternatively come back another day to fix the "NEW" bumper. Again, this has cause me inconvenience and a waste of my time. If Alan Soo is attentive enough, this type of things should not happen. Anyway, it leave me with no choice but to make the arrangement to come back to MEGA AUTO SWIFT workshop to get it fix on the Saturday. However, the bumper was not fix well, it left a metal piece sticking out from the right front lamp, this is also one reason why I went to MEGA AUTO SWIFT workshop on the 15 Dec, 2011. 5. Spare Key for the Car I told Alan I need a spare key for my car, he said his BOSS lock it, and he will get it from him and pass to me when I collect my car, IT DID NOT HAPPEN. I ask him several times: - ALAN SOO Reason: a. BOSS NOT IN TOWN b. BOSS KEPT IT UNDER LOCK c. BOSS CAME BACK BUT KEY IS IN HIS CAR d. BOSS WILL FIND AND PASS TO HIM e. IT WAS LOCK IN A BOX WHICH HE HAVE NO KEYS TO OPEN. As I thought it would be very serious if i lost my ONLY Key, I went up to Turf CITY to look for him to get the key on 10 Dec 2011. I called up his BOSS Jason that I need the key now and then, this is where Alan got "NO CHOICE" but to get my car key and go to the KEY maker at Turf CITY to duplicate the key. Again, cause me much inconvenience for I have to keep asking for it, and look for him many times to listen to his BIZZARE reasons. 6. A REPAIR Checklist As Alan told me that the car has gone through a major overhaul and MEGA AUTO SWIFT workshop have replaced most of the damaged parts at an amount to almost $8k Naturally, I ask for a repair checklist to see what has been replace and what was done to the car, so that I know what has been done on my Car. Alan told me to get it from Ah Boon when I am at his workshop. But when I ask Ah Boon he consistently told me its not ready and that and he will not pass it to me, he ONLY DEAL with JDM. Nevertheless, until today, week after week, I still cannot see the checklist, the workshop manager Ah Boon, had said that he will only gather all the item list and sent if to JDM cars, I mean, until almost two months, then he start to "GATHER" the items information? then how he can bill JDM cars? How come he know its $8K? 7. Although I have spoken to Jason on Alan Soo, and Jason have got Chris to followup, but they have already caused me very much stress, inconvenience and frustrations which I really don't know who to turn to for help. 8. The mileage meter, before I collect my car was read as around 80K (nls) which Alan Soo told me that its considered LOW mileage, but when I took the car, I sense something is not right, so I make some checking and realized that after converting to KM, it was around 140K! I ask ALAN SOO this and to my expectations, he denied that he did not told me that the meter reading of 80k is actual nls. 9. I have told ALAN SOO i will take further action on this, which he said "CARRY ON". WTF is such a guy doing in sales? 10. Til date, just close to the second month, I have make repairs for this car with another better auto repair shop of around $2200 already. They had told me that diagnostics had showed that after the repairs, the car is in a healthy state now. Hopefully, it can last me for another few years without any major repairs. P.S. I sold my 3 year old Allion SJJ7xxB to JDM Cars at a mileage of 80K(backup up by service log book) When I last saw my car up for sale by JDM at the Turf City, it was up for sale at a mileage of 40K???And this was prominently displayed on the car wind screen that proudly proclaimed "LOW MILEAGE"!!! I did not believe that the car dealer TWEAK the mileage meter until i SAW it with my own eyes. Good luck to the person who bought the car.

However, a woman claimed she was recently scammed out of S$67,000 by a car salesman. Worse still, the ownership of her existing car was also transferred to an unknown party. The car dealership the salesman worked for has said that they didn’t know about his actions and were “deeply troubled” by the situation. Woman met salesman when she was looking for a car In a lengthy Facebook post on Sunday (11 June) to the Complaint Singapore group, Grab driver Polin Ng told the story of her negative car-buying experience. She had looking for a new car on 25 Apr, she said, and went down to the Automobile Megamart in Ubi to look around. That’s when she met Mr Chan Chee Ken, or “Ken Chan”. He said he was a salesman from CarTimes Automobile, a car dealership. As they didn’t have a Toyota Voxy, which she was looking for, she left. Woman agrees on car, transfers S$10K in cash Two days later, Ken sent Ms Ng a WhatsApp message, offering her a Toyota Noah, she said. Though it wasn’t the car she’d been looking for, she eventually agreed. She then transferred him S$10,000 in cash via PayNow. Woman transfers S$50K in cash after changing car model The next day, 28 Apr, Ms Ng told Ken that she’d changed her mind and wanted a Toyota Yaris Cross instead. Ken then came down to void the previous agreement and issue a new one. Later, he gave her a United Overseas Bank (UOB) account number, into which she transferred S$50,000. He later informed her that the new car will be ready for collection by 22 May. She had no problem with the date. Woman transfers S$7K in cash & car ownership As the transaction is a trade-in, Ms Ng would have to surrender her existing car, a Honda Shuttle, to the dealership upon collecting the new car. On 18 May, Ken came to her place and told her that her Honda was valued at S$105,000. As the total cost was S$172,000, there was a balance of S$7,000 remaining. She thus transferred another S$7,000 via PayNow to a number. Ken also allegedly helped her transfer the ownership of her car as she’s “not IT savvy”. She subsequently received a message from the Land Transport Authority (LTA) that the ownership of her car had been transferred. She didn’t see who the car ownership was transferred to, she maintained. Car salesman claims collection delayed, goes uncontactable On 22 May — the day of the collection — Ken called Ms Ng and allegedly told her that her new car wasn’t ready yet due to port delay and LTA inspection. They agreed on another date, 30 May, as she would be overseas from 24-29 May. However, when Ms Ng was overseas, Ken became uncontactable. When she called his office, they said he had been on MC for about one week, she said. Dealership says no payment nor car was received Upon returning to Singapore, Ms Ng went to the car dealership, furnishing proof of payment to them. However, the dealership informed her that they hadn’t received any payment, nor had her car been transferred to them. Neither were they aware of the trade-in agreement, she said, claiming Ken had altered it before handing it to them. Woman allegedly scammed by car salesman, makes 2 police reports Feeling lost, she made a police report on 31 May. The next day, Ms Ng said she met CarTimes’ managing director, who allegedly informed her that their sales agreement states that payments above S$3,000 must be made via cheque or cashier’s order. They also advised her to wait for the police investigation to be concluded. After that, she made a second police report concerning the car ownership transfer. Cartimes says they didn’t authorise or condone alleged actions On Sunday (11 June), CarTimes addressed the incident in a Facebook post, describing it as a “fidelity issue”. They revealed that Ken, whom they described as a “former employee”, had allegedly engaged in fraudulent activities, including, offering unauthorised trade-in services to customers requesting customers transfer payments to the company into his personal accounts and misappropriating the funds misrepresenting his actions as being on behalf of the company These actions violated their company’s principles and were possibly criminal, they said, adding, CarTimes did not authorise or condone any of his alleged actions. As such, they’re “deeply troubled” by this situation. Dealership investigating case, 2 customers affected CarTimes said that they promptly took action after discovering what Ken had allegedly done. Besides filing a police report, an internal investigation was also conducted, they maintained, adding, We are fully cooperating with the authorities to facilitate the investigation process. CarTimes also revealed that there are two customers affected in the case. It’s uncertain whether that includes Ms Ng. The affected customers are being assisted in funds recovery with the support of their insurer, the dealership stated. Legal advice has also been sought. They advised customers not to make PayNow transfers to personal mobile numbers or transfer their vehicles to other parties even if instructed to do so by their staff. CarTimes added that they won’t be making further comments about this matter until police investigations have concluded.

Light weekend topic: Stories of the most clueless car salesman you've ever come across. Feel free to put yours down. Here's mine: I was visiting the AD for a low-volume Japanese brand. Young guy comes up to me and talks about all the luxury features at a budget. Well and good. Then it comes: 'the seats have built-in massagers' 'Really? I can't believe it' 'Sit down sir, and I'll show you'. I get into the driver's seat and he leans over, one hand on the lower right part of the seat, 'Ready sir? Turning it on now' He presses the lumbar support control back and forth. The lower seat back moves in...out... agonizingly slowly..... 'Feel that? Massage!' I said 'that's the lumbar support!' He looks at me and gives me a goofy grin. With a sinking feeling, I realized he thought I was making a crude Hokkien joke. True story.

just to probe the market a little. How's being a tyre salesman like? is this a hot seat that see a new face every few months, or one that can reign for years? How's tyre sales volume going be like, since consumer don't exactly change tyres monthly? from an outsider point of view, this look like a slow moving goods industry. please correct me if i'm wrong. Really cant stand the sales persons out there. From those giving u constant calling to those pestering to meet up with you. Dont the sales ppl do a customer analysis before calling them up??? I dont have the means or authority to purchase, yet kept on barking at the wrong tree. Fed up with this guy and shoot him an email. If he dont wake up, I'll shoot the email to his boss. Watz up with these kind of salesman. Dear Dave, I do not see the need to meet up with you. Whatever I will be purchasing are existing equipment onboard the vessel. I am not going to purchase anything new. So what is the purpose of you meeting up with me??? You can tell me how great or how good your product is but I cannot purchase any of that. I am just a small employee doing repetition work day-in day-out. What do you gain for meeting me??? Any brochure given to me will be in my closet till either I retire or resign from the company. Go and ask for the technical or project managers or even my technical director. They are the decision makers. Me??? I am just a small fly making a decent living. Having said and heard so much about the infamous Toyota sales staff, I had the misfortune to be appointed by a friend to visit the showroom with him. I had pre-warned him about the type of service and response he is likely to get. But as he was looking for a cheap, fuel efficient and good resale value car, I had no choice but to accompany him down to BM. His sister had recommended a "best" toyota sales staff to him and I thought this time I won't have to stand like silly white elephants in the Toyota showroom trying to catch the attention of the vision impaired BM sales staff. We went early and called him on his mobile. He appeared with his smiley face and that kind of changed my impression of BM sales staff a bit. I thought to myself maybe this are still some jewels among the black sheeps. Well, as we reached there early, we didn't blame him that he have to rush of to entertain other clients. So we found ourselves some seats and I went through with my friends some details and questions he should ask. After something like 20-30minutes, we thought of trying our luck to locate him. We saw him and his apologetic smile immediately erased any feelings of being left out on our part and he ushered us to the lounge and promised he will be back within 20mins and he remarked that he is doing some after sales service Well, 40min passed and he was nowhere in sight. Getting impatient, my friend gave him a call and he apologised caused he have to serve 2 customers who signed on the dotted line. He promised he will be back in a jify and after another 10minutes, we finally gotten to sit down to discuss with him. After the test drive, my friend proceeded to ask some questions. He didn't really like accessories in the 2 packages that was offered and proceeded to ask whether we can mix and match certain accessories. I advise my friend to get the basic package and to get his leather seats done elsewhere, probably in JB. The best toyota salesman shot off the blocks and said "no lah, why go to malaysia? any problem with the leather seats, who to look for? don't know what type of leather they use also" Well, for one thing, i never thought highly of the quality of the leather seats provided by BM. For another, he sucks of treating us like small kids who never does our homework and gets conned trying to save that few pennies by getting leather seats done in Malaysia. And well, its seems to me remote that leather can "have any problems" later on. Later on, my friend proceeded to ask about installation of V-Kool and he proceeded with his round of brainless fire again. He told us about the price and then added "go malaysia and do lah, cheap cheap lah". Sensing a rush of blood into me, I retorted "v kool has to comply with LTA standards, better not do in Malaysia like leather seats" Its then he realised we do know our stuff and he shut his trap up. Next question, my friend asked, was whether we can choose the deluxe package and get discount for not choosing the woodgrain display panels. Then his cynical demeanour resurfaced again. He said "you take this package if the woodgrain display panels don't want you return you hor in the original box loh"....THis again draw a retort from me "the woodgrain panels got no resale value!" The last thing that convinced me that the entire BM sales team sucks comes from the reply he gave my friend when my friend enquired about the availability of certain coloured units as we know popular coloured ones (like the champagne)are arriving very late in singapore. To this he said "why worry? buy car don't need to worry about colour lah...we enough units of all colour" I managed to find out the least accomplished toyota salesman earns $6k a month while this "best" toyota salesman earns in the region of $10K+ per month. Well, very good income for such shoddy attitude. After this trip, I made up my mind not to buy any toyota cars wherever possible. Even if i have to buy one, I will get it through one of the authorised distributors of BM but not from BM itself.

From Sviper - previously posted on RX8Club: About time i came out and let the whole world know about this. I just recieved my Rx8 last month after a heart wrecking 3 month wait for it. Trust me when i say heart wrecking. For that 3 months i was constantly being tossed from left to right by the PI and the salesman who handled my sales. By not disclosing the names of the PI and salesman, i wish not to further bring up past disputes or quarrels against other PIs and salesman. Soon after i made my downpayments and cash for accessories like any ordinary person would. I realised that i was actually issuing cheques to the saleman under his name. First initial
