Hi guys, Would like to find out how to resolve or repair this issue. I drive a honda stream (bought 2nd hand). everything is fine except that the speedo is inaccurate. My speed on my GPS is 100km/h my speedo would read 125km/h. i know that the gps reading is not v accurate as well but when driving with my friend he also confirmed that he was driving at 80km/h when my speedo reading had reached 100km/h +- i realised that the rims were upgraded my the previous owner to 17" from 15".... is that the cause? i asked kah motor (as it was a kah motor stream), they told me the cant help me coz its not a common problem. Try to do a bit of research on the web but then some suggested to change whole consol..... any1 had this problem before? Thanks

Dear Experts here, I have 2 questions hopefully someone can help clarify. Say as our tyre size gets smaller due to wear and tear : 1. Will the speedo meter show higher or lower speed compared to when tyre is new ? 2. Will the milage meter shows more or less km travelled than the car actually travelled ? Thks

Hi I'm new here and I found this forum just when I try to search several major parts for my Galant 8G I'll do the introduction in here since I'm in desperate states and I'll explain why First of All I'm from Indonesia, kinda near huh ? I'm Mitsubishi Galant 8G M/T user (6A13 2.5 SOHC V6-24) and bought it last 3 month ago (of course it's second hand car) and recently doing some several project for it 1st Problem Right now I'm doing engine swap of 6G72TT M/T 1st generation (from GTO not 3000GT) to my Galant 8G and so far not quite good. I can't find any reference for help but I found some1 already done 6G74 swap to Galant 8G so right now I'm using that as reference though I don't know if it can help 2nd Problem (THE BIGGEST PROBLEM) I'm looking for Speedometer of Mitsubishi Galant Avance 2.5 V6-24 SOHC (6A13) M/T Euro-Spec. It's basically same type and has same engine at my country. The only differences are ours have much much more crappier interior quality including speedometer and Euro-Spec Galant is Left-Handed. To make it short, is there any1 that sell Speedometer of Galant Avance 2.5 V6 Manual(read up to 260 Km/h) ? Last time i went to SG, I've tried my luck checking most of the car junkyard at Woodland Industrial Park but no result. Any suggestion ? Sample Picture of Speedometer Galant Avance 2.5 V6 Manual: Not to mention it has different gearbox since I'm using 6G72TT (the speedometer only compatible with 6A13 and 6A13TT). So there's a huge chance the speed sensor and other sensor won't work (only the light / optitron will work since it's universal). So Any1 sell the speedometer (just exactly like at the picture) and have any suggestion bout how to match it to 6G72TT ? 3rd Problem (SECOND MAJOR PROBLEM) I'm also looking for MMCS 2nd Edition Wide screen from Mitsubishi Galant VR-4 Facelift Sample picture of MMCS 2nd Edition Wide Screen : Any1 know where I can buy it, I'm planning to install it to my Galant 8G. And any reference how to install it to Galant 8G 2.5 6A13 ? I'm sorry if u guys have a hard time understanding it since I'm not very good in english.

Hi Friends here, Juz for knowledge sake. Do we cause our seedo reading to be inaccurate when we change to bigger rims? I understand that the wall of the tires becomes shallower when switch to bigger rims. Is there a formula that we should based on in terms of incremental of rim size vs decrease in the side wall of the tires? My wira was formerly on 175/70R13, to 195/50R15 currently. If my next set of tires becomes 195/55R15, does that mean that my speedo will become inaccurate? Or can we conclude that any increase in rim sizes will cause the speedo to be inaccurate? Thanks for the lessons here. Cheers!

Hi Guys, How much Speedo error do you experienced in your car? Say speedo indicate top speed 220km/h but GPS only indicate 208km/h. Which car is more accurate and which make is the worst?

Wah, just installed at Mcwell last Friday for $150.......damn happy and shiok to drive. Really more relaxing to drive without having to look down at the stock speedo, helps me easily to maintain speed within the speed limit as it is now so easy to get the speed reading and also comes with audible and/or visual speed warning. Don't know why mfrs dont install this is as stock item for new cars, I believe they did use this technology on some earlier cars but somehow stopped. I will never drive cars without HUD ever.

Interested? let me know. cheers.

Was explaining to my boy recently what the tachometer and speedometer in the car are for. And why there are red markings on the tacho. Trust kids to be sharp... he pointed out that the 50km/hr mark on the speedo is different / red, and asked me the reason why. I'm stumped. On closer inspection, it seems that it could be illuminated but I've never seen that happen before. Anyone knows why it's there? This is a FL Trajet.

I heard from my crazy fren that all cars will only be allowed into singapore if they convert the speedo to show only max 90km/hr. The electronic engine cut will also limit the car speed to max 90km/hr. It was said that Japan has already limit their car speed to max 180km/hr and Germany car co voluntarily limit their super cars to max 280km/hr for safety reasons. In Singapore there are no super highway that justify a much higher speed than 90km/hr. So for the safety sake, it was suggested that all cars for Singapore market be electronic limited to 90km/hr. This way, TP will no longer need to be deployed on overhead bridge to catch speeders. All car owners will feel safe that they will not exceed the speed limit and no need to watch out for police. So this will make the driving experience a safe and unstress one!

i realised that most 1.6L saloons have speedo range up to 220km/h while some 2L or even 2.5L sedans/SUV have only speedo range up to 180km/h, notably like mark x although running on a V6 2.5L engine. does it mean that cars like mark x cannot go beyond 180km/h? what happen if they go beyond 180km/h? the needle just stuck at 180? can anyone change the speedo gauge to a wider range?

I changed my profile 55 tyres to profile 50 tires.I know that speedo readings would not be accurate,BUT would it under or overstate my actual speed or mileage readings? If so by how much is the difference?Say if my speedo shows 100km/hr,wat would be my actual speed? Likewise when my odometer reads 100KM,wat is the actual distance I covered?

I'm using 15' 195 55 tires for my Lancer and would like to change to profile 50 for my next tire change,I noe that it's not the correct profile and speed and millege readings would be affected. But I would like to know when I switch from profile 55 to profile 50.Would the speed readings be over stated as in indicating I'm travelling at 100km/hr when I'm actually doing 110km/hr? Oso will the millege counter under or over report the actual distance travelled? Last is would the discrepancy be a lot from original readings?

How accurate are our speedo meters? When I am travelling on the expressway and my speedo reads 90km/h, but I still see cars overtaking me left right center... Maybe my speedo is spoilt...
