  3. http://www.worldcarfans.com/1151019100254/bmw-to-use-manure-to-partially-power-south-africa-factory BMW has announced plans to partially power its Rosslyn factory in South Africa with the help of manure. The company has previously established a target to use renewable energy at all of its manufacturing facilities and now they have signed a ten-year deal with Bio2Watt to receive up to 4.4 megawatts of electricity from a biogas plant located approximately 50 miles (80 km) from their factory in north-west of Pretoria. Once the biogas facility will run at full throttle, it will be able to provide 25% to 30% of the factory's necessary electricity thanks to the land where about 30,000 cattle graze. The biogas plant runs off the gas emitted by a nasty combination of dung and organic waste like discarded dog food and sour yogurt, just to name a few. Overall, BMW says they have 51% of the necessary energy sourced from similar renewable energy providers and in South Africa they are already thinking about using solar energy for their factory in Rosslyn. BMW's first foreign plant ever (opened in 1973), it is the place where they make 60,000+ units of the 3-Series each year and back in February this year the assembly plant reached the one millionth vehicle completed milestone.

  5. Heated argument after child runs behind reversing taxi at Robertson Quay condo. SINGAPORE - Two men were involved in a heated argument with a taxi driver at Robertson Quay last Sunday. A Stomp reader who witnessed the incident told the citizen journalism website that the trio had been staring at each other before the argument broke out. The daughter of one of the men had earlier run behind the taxi as it was reversing out of an entrance of the Watermark condominium, but the cabby managed to brake in time. The Stomp contributor known only as Sarah said that she heard a loud commotion at about 12.45pm. She said: "The condo's security guard said the cabby was driving into one of the entrances of the condominium. The entrance to the block the cabby wanted to go to was not at this block, so the security guard redirected the cabby to another entrance. "The cabby reversed his taxi a little and at this point in time, the man's daughter (about 3 to 4 years old) suddenly dashed out and ran up behind the taxi, but the cabby managed to brake in time." Sarah added that the man was accompanied by another male friend and two other women who appeared to be their wives. She said that the men kept yelling at the cabby even after he got out of his vehicle to try and explain things. =================================== Don't know why parents can't keep their children in reign when near roads. Do they need something to happen before they wake up their idea?
  6. A 193-metre-long container ship ‘Hansa Constitution’ sailing under German flag ran aground on 6th April afternoon by the University of Hong Kong sports ground in Pok Fu Lam. According to residents in the neighborhood, the captain of the ship dropped the anchor to slow down the vessel, as it came to a halt just a few feet away from the promenade, which is popular with joggers. The ship was on its way to Shenzhen when it is believed to have been blown off course by monsoon winds after engine failure. Two diving support vessels as well as two fireboats were deployed for the rescue. The ship was eventually towed away from the shore. There were no reports of hull breach, injuries, or causalities aboard the ship. Watch the video below:

  8. Dear bros/sis, I have recently begin preparing my vehicle for CNY (haha). As you know, swirl mark occurs over time irregardless whether we like it or not. I recently spent 4 hours plus manually removing it by hand. No doubt I am glad that all marks are gone from my bonnet, I now have to face reality that I have the rest of the car to deal with T_T So I was wondering if any bros/sis have seen those buffer machine they use to polish cars but can be operated by ciggy lighting plug instead of the normal power socket plug. Cause living in HDB means I have no access to power points at ground level car park. Was hoping if this machine exist, I can buy it and that should reduce my time needed for removing the rest of the swirl marks from the remaining portions of the car. Thanks in advance.
  9. Poor thing, better be careful when you reverse in car park

  11. From: STOMP http://singaporeseen.stomp.com.sg/stomp/sg...sultan_and.html A nude man was spotted walking against the flow of traffic along Jalan Sultan before finally lying down on the road. Passers-by tried to aid him by diverting traffic and covering him with a white sheet.

STOMPers Francis, Shaik and Kai all sent in videos and comments about the man's behaviour in public.

Francis says passers-by tried to render assistance to the man. He wrote:

"A naked man entered a lift on the 15th floor of Keypoint Building at around 6.30pm, then walked on the main road against the flow of traffic outside the textile centre.

"All cars tried to avoid the naked man and eventually he laid himself down on the road.

"Kind souls were trying their best to divert heavy oncoming traffic away from him and at the same time advise the man to stand up and move away from the danger.

"The naked man refused to move and remained motionless lying on the floor until three police cars and one ambulance came to the rescue. "

Shaik was at the scene of the incident. He commented:

"I captured a video of a naked man running along Jalan Sultan.

"I work at the area and we were hanging out at the area.

"Suddenly my boss shouted 'naked man!', and we all turned to look at him.

"He was running against the flow of traffic and trying to stop motorists there.

"The police arrived after 10-15 minutes but they had difficulty getting him off the road.

"He was eventually taken away by an ambulance that arrived later. "

STOMPer Kai also sent in footage of the incident. He wrote:

"I would like to report a video about a naked man seen on Jalan Sultan today, June 28." What has driven these people goes crazy nowadays. It seems that life in Singapore is getting more and more stressful that make these people doing unthinkable acts in public.

  13. A new HDB flat at Yishun has been converted into a "budget hotel" by a Filipina, who advertised her transient home service on various websites, including Facebook. As it was an affordable place to stay, many short-term visitors and job-hunters, mainly Filipinos, started making enquiries. One advert read, "Hi, we have transient rooms and bedspace for rent for Filipinos, located in Yishun." It also stated that the new apartment comes equipped with different amenities for a comfortable stay. Much cheaper than regular budget hotels in Singapore, a night's stay at the unit only costs S$25 per head. However, some netizens who spotted the ad have reported it on various online and social media sites. Photos of the unit were also downloaded, before the account was deleted, which helped others trace the flat. The flat was found to be located at Block 450 in Jade Spring on Yishun Ring Road, which is close to several shopping and commercial amenities. The BTO unit was completed about six months ago, which means only Singaporeans are eligible to purchase a unit. It is unclear whether the foreigner was a new citizen or was renting it from a Singaporean. However, she was unlikely to have been granted any license to operate a hotel out of the HDB flat, as the Hotels Act (Chapter 127), section 7(1) states, "No person shall keep or manage any premises for the purposes of a hotel unless he is the holder of a valid licence granted in respect of the premises in accordance with the provisions of this Act." Moreover, Section 16(7) declares that, "Any person guilty of the offence shall be liable on conviction to a fine not exceeding S$2,000 and, in the case of a second or subsequent offence, to such fine or to imprisonment for a term not exceeding 6 months or to both." 16. Hi all Subaru owners, especially those with TB charged ones. I am driving a Subaru Legacy Wagon 2.0GT, bought 2nd hand for 8mths now. Everything was in very good condition till recently: 1)when turbo boost kicks in, the engine sputters, sounds like misfiring 2)erratic idling with engine vibrating violently especially with aircon turned off Went to check, had four ignition coils changed which solved the misfire, denso iridium spark plug checked and still looking beautiful; had the throttle body and air filter cleaned and found a loose air pipe disconnected, rectified the problem with a simple add-on clip to secure piping; but after one day of perfect driving with no hiccups, during 2nd day startup in the morning, low idling problem comes back with CEL on and Cruise light blinking. My car runs when and everything but idling got issues. After driving for a while CEL light will be gone. Previously system showed TOO LEAN. If I put to DRIVE and don't step accelerator, the car runs like out of breathe; on straight road moves forward a bit then slows, then move forward then slows, can hear from the erratic combustion in the engine. Can any subaru TB owners give some advise on potential flaws? Will send back to trusted mechanic to check again, hopefully this time is just one of the smaller pipes hidden behind throttle body came loose. Cheers bros, look forward to as many replies as possible.

  18. Hey bros, Other than the typical hassles of asking for towing services, pushing the car to the petrol kiosk, asking friends for help etc... A few questions: 1) Will AD void warranty? 2) Will you damage ur engine? I heard that it might be possible. 3) If someone rear ended you becos u run out of fuel along the expressway, does insurance still cover? Lastly, has anyone experienced car running out of fuel before?

  21. SHE was about to go out and did not want her little boy to go with her. But he kept demanding that she take him along. So Madam Cai moved the boy, who was 21months old, aside and got into her sports utility vehicle. But the Taiwanese woman, whose full name was not given, did not realise that her child had run in front of the car. She turned on the engine and started to drive off, but stopped when she felt the vehicle hit something, reported Apple Daily Taiwan. When she got out of the vehicle, she was horrified to find that her son had been run over by the car's left front wheel. The weight of the vehicle had crushed his head, and there was a pool of blood on the ground. The distraught woman shouted: 'Quick, come, I've run over the kid.' Her husband ran out of the house and nearly fainted when he saw what had happened. The mother grabbed the child and rushed him to the hospital. But his injuries were too severe and he showed no signs of life. The woman's hands were trembling as she kept saying to herself: 'It's all mummy's fault. It's all mummy's fault.' DEATHLY PALE Her husband kept silent, his face deathly pale. When the doctor finally told them that their son was dead, both parents cried non-stop. The mother kept pounding her chest. The police had been informed of the incident, and met the couple at the hospital. Both were in no state to drive, so the police helped to move their SUV to the police station to help in their investigations. At the scene, officers found that the car had been driven for only a few metres before it collided into the boy. They found bloodstains on the ground, and one of the boy's slippers by the side of the road. Investigations showed that the SUV was 1.4m in height. The mother is 1.6m tall and the little boy was between 70 to 80cm tall. This means it was possible that when the woman was in the driver's seat, she was unable to see the boy. The boy could have been hit when the woman was making a right turn. Neighbours said that the young couple were very loving towards their son, and it was a tragedy that he was killed so unexpectedly. 22. Hi guys, just want to find out more about the above. I was told by the installer after flashing my stock ecu with superchips that I am supposed to pump only Ron 98 petrol. Would there be any adverse effects to the engine if I pump Ron 95? I was told that once I pump 95 petrol to immediately switch to 98 on my next fill. Just checking to see if anyone using superchips and running on ron 95 petrol? Or do you alternate between 95 and 98? Thanks
