Another day, another, uh, video that showcases the ugly side of Singapore. Welcome to 2021, people. 2020 was less than a pleasant year, so this writer is sure most people would like to leave all that unhappiness behind and start the year on a fresh note, without conflict, anger, agony, and just general headache. Basically, take a chill pill. Unfortunately, we have here one of our first candidates for idiot of the year, 2021 edition. My friend, it is not even the end of the first week of January, and you are already causing such a ruckus over a matter so trivial? Please, do everyone a favour, go back to 2020 and stay there. The matter seems to have risen from the security guards requesting the food delivery rider to park his bike at a less disruptive or perhaps more agreeable place, with the location of the incident being the Marina One building at Straits View. By now, it should be more or less known that the security guards at buildings in the CBD can be a little more stringent than their counterparts in other parts of Singapore. But ultimately, they're at the bottom of the food chain, having to enforce the instructions that have been laid out to them. But still, a little give and take is usually enough for everyone to settle on an amicable solution should one need to stop their vehicle at one of these buildings in the CBD. Talking nicely to everyone helps, too. Well, this guy obviously did not get the memo. Not only was his tone extremely aggressive, he continually raised his voice at the security officers who were trying their best to keep their cool and maintain the situation the best they could. But oh no, Mr Polite was having none of it. If this writer were to reproduce some of the words and phrases shouted out by the raging delivery guy, well, this writer would be in a world of trouble, and then some. Simply put, the security guards were trying to deescalate the situation, calm everyone down, let life move on. But no, Mr Angry just kept shouting, and shouting, and shouting, even at one point disparaging one of the security guard's educational qualifications. Perhaps Mr Angry should look back at what he learnt in driving school, because he continually insists that he is allowed to park on the double yellow line and that "with LTA, there is a grace period of 10 minutes". My friend, if you bothered to do a simple Google search of "double yellow line Singapore", one of the first results to pop up is from the LTA site OneMotoring with photographic instructions about how there should be "no parking on this side of the road at all times, except for immediate pick-up and drop-off only". I do want to know where angry delivery rider got his information about LTA giving 10 minutes grace because I have never heard of such a grace period. Perhaps angry delivery guy is smoking something real good and distorting all the facts and information of daily life around him. To this writer, the more the delivery guy rages, the deeper the hole of stupidity he digs for himself. But yes, the security guards could have been a little more understanding, perhaps, but if you, rage monster, didn't raise your voice at them and started filming them with your phone, this matter could have been resolved a lot more amicably. This writer also wonders if the angry delivery rider has read the comments, because the comments are all bashing him and his behaviour. And lastly, at the end of the video, the security guards say "thank you", turn their backs and start walking away. Basically, they are disengaging from the situation because talking to stupid people is obviously tiring. But no, Mr Angry still wants the last word, and starts gesticulating with his hand in various "kung fu" hand positions and continues his verbal tirade. It's a good thing the guards don't bother responding. My friend, this writer advises you to get therapy, because it seems like you need it. Or if that doesn't work, a long walk off a very short pier. 😏

A movement in Singapore is taking off, aimed at making the roads a safer place. The Gentlemen Movement campaign started in December 2013, but has only recently started making its rounds on social media. Their Facebook page describes the project as “a social initiative to cultivate and install road courtesy, patience and good driving habits in Singapore.” MP for Tampines GRC Baey Yam Keng has also thrown his support behind the movement. In a YouTube video released by the group, he said, "For the record, we are not doing this for the Government, any movement or any council." The movement aims to put a bow tie on one out of every 1,500 cars – there are more than 970,000 cars in Singapore – signifying the drivers’ intent to be more courteous on the road. The organisers are hoping to raise USD$15,900 (S$19,700) to help pay for the production of collateral for the movement. Have not seen it yet, anyone knows how much/where to buy?

Dear MCF bro and sis, good evening!! It has been quite sometime since I last started a topic and I think general discussion is the most suitable place for this. Here's the stroy: Place of incident: Marsling blk 19 hawker center carpark Time: Around 12.45pm Date: 5th July 2014 At around 12.40pm this afternoon, me and my gf arrived at this hawker center carpark @ marsling and because we can't find a parking lot, I parked at the side while waiting for empty lots. After 5 min, I decided to drive one round around the carpark to search for empty lots at the other side. Bro/sis who lived here or have been to this carpark will know how the carpark flow (as in veh movement) because there isn't road marking on the road to separate incomming and outcomming veh so therefore we will have to give way whenever there's incoming veh ahead of us....... Then here comes the climax!!! This p-plate nissan sylphy was coming out from his lot and was driving towards the exit and at the same time, I turned right and both of us stopped at the middle of the road for nearly 45sec!!! From the video, you guys can see that there's a camry parked right side so there's limited space for me to steer and move on. What's more, look at the nissan sylphy, he has got plenty of space on his right side and he refused to move!!! Knn, just he can just steer to his right and both of us can move on right? But he chose not to!!! Lucky my gf was by my side, if not I will pull my handbrake and get out of my car to ask him what the fark he want!!! On the account he just passed his TP test, I give it to him this time round! At least the lancer Q-ing behind this Nissan know the basic driving etiquette and he reverse his car for me to pass through! When I passed through, this nissan sylphy still don't want to move!! at least 3 to 4 cars was blasting their horn at him!!! What do you think? And instead of apologising, he ends the conversation with a "What's the Big Deal? Just Claim Me Lah" The damage wasn't significant, but I just don't like his attitude. He definitely was in the wrong but was acting like he did nothing wrong at all.

Wasn't rude to me but still I wanna bring it up. At cross junction at Ubi road 2 and Ubi Ave 4, there is a left turn green arrow towards the driving center. The junction is always full of cars towards Ubi Ave 3 on both lanes, so when even when there is left green arrow, cars won't be able to turn as it's block by cars wanting to go straight, this bugger was being block by a taxi going straight, keep on horning his way and comes all the hand signal. You think rich is everything? Got money means you have the right of way? That taxi even bother to move forward to let you pass when he can don't bother and you don't even wave a thank you to him, shame on you a-----e!

STOMPer Fatfoodie said a waiter at an eatery kicked away chairs and slammed tables together when the STOMPer asked for another table so that he could accommodate all the people in his group. The STOMPer wrote: "If you are peeved about eating at a place where the staff has a bad attitude towards customers, like as if the customers owes him a living (even though you just stepped in and did nothing to him), this is definitely not the place for you. "I have been to some really nasty joints. But this one bests all. "When we got there, we needed 1 more table to sit everyone. "We asked the waiter to help us join a table from nearby so that we can sit everyone. "He told us that the table we have is enough to sit everyone. When we did a count, he looked pissed (I don't know why) and quite literally, he kicked away the chairs around the next table and slammed the tables together. "He did it as if he wanted to make sure we knew that he was unhappy doing it. Then he gave a sarcastic smile and said, 'Is this ok now?' and stormed off before we said anything. "When we were about to order, we called for the waiter. He happened to be the nearest and when he came over, he literally threw the tray that he was holding onto the next table in a fashion that indicated that he was unhappy. "My Yuan Yang had more taste of tea than coffee so I asked the waiter if this was normal and he brought it back and informed the person behind the counter. "When he brought it back, he informed me that this was how it was supposed to taste, in a tone which sounded condescending. "I was thinking, 'What the...'. "I've had this drink in so many places but none was as bad as this and the waiter had the cheek to inform me that it's like this? "There were many other issues but I think I shall leave it as it is. "I've even informed the young bespectacled manager but nothing was done. "The lousy attitude of that staff kind of spoilt everything."

Today while waiting at for a lot at a hdb car park, this pickup just barge into the lot I was waiting for and walk off without looking at me Later on, while driving out of the carpark, this taxi driver simply refuse to give way to meand purposely speed up to cut me off... Are Singapore drivers rude people or is it they see me beysong to drive a big car?

You cut into my lane and still raise your fingers at me twice ! What a bitch !

Since today's a Friday, just wanted to share a light hearted yet ugly incident which happened yesterday... Adapted and tweaked the title of my thread from bro Roverboy - since its rather catchy and befitting a fri...ha! Unfortunately, it is the works of the infamous Kia Koup again.... (or Koups, this round) Yesterday, I had sent my car for regular oil change. As I had a busy working schedule, I don't have the luxury of waiting till the servicing is done. My mech kindly lent me his Avante so that I can meet my business associates and have lunch before bropping back to collect my ride. (So nice of him.... ). I must say honestly, Avante is a great car in its class. Very responsive... I had a quick meeting with my business associates and decided to head to Potong Pasir to pack lunck before heading back to office at Media Centre. The route was CTE (from town) -> upper serangoon then Potong Pasir. Along CTE ( before the moulmein road exit), the M&Ms appeared... (it was 3 Kia Koups, red, blue and green - thus the namesake, M&Ms). They were in a convoy I presume, cutting in and out of lanes... and tailgatting some poor souls who eventually had to give way to them.... At one juncture, the Blue one tried to cut out but was blocked by an equally rude taxi who cut into his lane and jam brake... So blue was left behind and red and green sped ahead..I overtook the blue... It was business as usual, I went ahead to PP to pack my lunch (the area opposite the Hindi Temple). When I reached there, I was pretty surprised that Red and Green was there... Parked one ahead of the other, opposite the temple with their hazard lights on. (I presume they were heading to Mac Donalds). the space behind them was unoccupied so I slotted in , put on my hazard light and went to the food stall to pack lunch (about 5m away). Suddenly, blue came.... and started blasting his horn... Its the extremely irritating kind whereby the driver pressed and held on to his horn... My mind was occupied with work, so I just stood there in a daze wondering what blue wanted... he wound down his window (rather i would say it wound down its window... because the driver was an extremely ugly looking, four eyed monkey with a super corky look) What he said was even more appalling.... "Eh... move your car leh... can't you see my 2 friends ahead of you... can park elsewhere or not??" I responded " sorry, why must I shift my car... I was here first" Blue monkey " Wa leow eh... please la, your one not sports car, dun park here and spoil the completeness of our convoy can?? Move away your lau pok car... please....." With a highly irritated monkeyed look, specs glimmering in the sun" OK Kia Koup is a sports car !!!! in his monkey brain.... and Avante is a lau pok car compared to his?? I thought specs are pretty similar... and I thought both MIK? shouldn't he show some mercy to his fellow MIK Hyundai?? Anyway, my food was ready, so I just took my food and drove off...

An Open Question was posted at Yahoo Webside with the heading : Do you think Singaporeans are rude drivers? According to a survey conducted by the Singapore Kindness Movement, Singaporeans are still not showing enough courtesy on the roads. What do you think can be done to encourage gracious behaviour while driving? One (sakura88) reponded with reply : The government should abolish the taxi's time delay charges in order to get rid of these bunch of hypocritical taxi drivers who hog the road unnecssarily. Most taxi drivers would drive slowly when they have a passenger in the taxi becase they want to earn another $0.20 for every 45 seconds delay on the road. However, when they do not have a passenger in their taxi, they would go all way out to get one without any consideration for your safty!This is the actual fact a careful driver would encounter on the Singapore road! Some younsters would like to show off occasionally. Singaporeans are hard pressed for time and most believe that those who plan for the bus lane are brainless because on certain road there are only 3 lanes and one is taken up by the bus leaving only 2 for the out numbered vehicles and the buses in that particular road are not many(less than 5). Sometimes you see the bus lanes are empty for more tha 5-10 minutes and why should they have a bus lane in that particular stretch of road when it could be used to ease the other heavy traffic???? Another (Ho Mel) wrote : yes mojority of singaporean drivers are rude and reckless. The reason is being afraid to losing to another driver and not giving way so they could drive first. Hmmmmmmmm................... very interesting ....
