New rules set to be laid down next month stipulate that private-hire vehicle drivers must be Singapore citizens who are at least 30 years old. This comes amidst discussions between the National Taxi Association and National Private Hire Vehicles Associations. One of the key concerns prompting the proposed rule is the problem of youths taking to driving private-hire vehicles full-time. As of February 2019, there are 41,000 registered PHV drivers, of which 40 percent of them are under 40 years old. Over 6500 of them are below 30 years old. However, the data does not include non-registered PHV drivers who operate “hitch” services. Hitch drivers are allowed to only make 2 ride-sharing trips a day, however many are known to take on more rides across different ride-sharing operators. The NTA and NPHV are also in discussion about issues such as contracts between transport operators and drivers, drivers’ insurance and the issue of whether PHV can do roadside pick-ups. The result of these talks will be announced next month. Article from redwiretimes. No official news. Looks dubious. But been trending around some dealer websites also. If really true how many will be affected?

What is the car population in the 1980's? I am under the impression that the number of cars increased greatly only in the last few years. Is the road in the 80's ALREADY as crowded as now? Was Restricted Zone really required for CBD area in the 80's at all? I know its a foregone question to ask in 2008, but I have this impression that the road congestion were surelt be at least HALF as jammed on the road in 1980's compared to currently. Anyone can recall those 80's road conditions?

Comparing to HK & Taiwan variety shows, Drama etc....Singapore considered the least interesting!!! Look at some Taiwanese variety, they are so fun to watch, their joke sometimes cross the line, but don't seem anything will happened to them. Not like Singapore, when a celebrity wear a little lesser, they will soon be on the paper. Taiwan can even make fun of their president and audience all know is just a joke, but in Singapore, Who dare?? Like the recent programme, Lin Ming Lun recommending food series . A chef slice the fish and released the blood in a bucket to reduce the "fishy" smell, the second day, Headline.......cruel, inhuman etc. All sorts of Nosey Sinkies complaint. Why can't Singaporean be broad minded a little!!!????? Have your say.............

I understand that this Skoda Lounge is restricted to Skoda owners only. And theoretically, we can voice all our thoughts in here. However, I notice the postings in this lounge are also included in the latest postings list on the main page. So be careful if u want to flame somebody, in case u put his/her name right in the first sentence n it's shown to everyone.
