  1. For used cars, the situation is going to be a lot rosier, that's assuming you have no outstanding loans to service. Post the car on car portals like sgCarMart and Carousell and you await your next adventure. Is it gonna be that easy though? You're gonna incur a cancellation fee from the car insurance, for first-time car owners you're gonna have to restart on your NCD accumulation, which maybe isn't so bad considering you only got started months ago. So I bought my COE Swift about four months ago and I hate to admit it but I'm not the biggest fan of it. Maybe because it's a 1.5, maybe I should have gotten a ZC31, maybe it was an impulse buy. I got the Swift four days after selling off my motorcycle. The initial plan was to commute to work via public transport for a few months but come on, we all know that's never going to work out. Sold the bike on 2nd May, had a cooling-off period of fewer than four days, and I was back on the road by 6th or 7th May. The Swift was also the only car I viewed. I'm sure there are a few possibilities one may want to back out on a car deal, be it buyer's remorse, buying a lemon, realising you were ripped off after signing on the dotted line, etc. And then your only recourse would be to plead your case aka beg the dealer to rescind the purchase agreement. But I'm not referring to those. I'm referring to... finding myself uninterested with the car after three months. There's no major issue with the car. A bit of kink here and there (cheap interior plastics rattling) but nothing major. Every morning I get to my car knowing it's gonna start, no strange noises, no sudden death. The only problem is, it's hella boring. 😆 Who am I kidding right? I bought a 1.5 Swift (no gun pointed at my head) and here I am, complaining I'm bored of my workhorse. I say it's an impulse buy because I had a few simple criteria - has to be a hatchback, inexpensive to maintain, no issue with parts availability, and voila, Swift it is. I didn't look around the market, I narrowed in on the Swift and I bought it from a used car dealer I know I can trust. It was that simple. If you made it through my longwinded post, congratulations! Here's my hypothetical question to you. Facing similar scenarios, would you sell the car after just buying, or continue driving till the end of its COE which is slightly less than three years away? No guarantee I'll like my next car though, at least not those I can afford. I don't have a fantastic track record of keeping things around. The bottom line I think we can all come to a consensus is that, go ahead and sell it if you can take the loss. Do share if you've felt the same way before after purchasing a used car? I'm referring to used car here because selling a new car after just a few months is a financial suicide with the first-year depreciation, except for those that can afford it.

  3. When you go for a trip, there might be place you regret visiting because maybe it is a waste of time or not to your expectation.. or do you have any place that you won't ever visit? Recently i went to Penang and find that the Toy Museum is disappointing.. Drove about 30-45 minutes to the museum, i expected to see those classic toys.
  4. From STOMP: http://singaporeseen.stomp.com.sg/stomp/sg...eed_demons.html Posted on 01 Jun 2012 Could these Volvos be Traffic Police's latest weapon against speed demons? It seems that the Traffic Police have added a new model into their stable of vehicles according to STOMPer Kok Cheong, who spotted a few highway patrol cars outside a Volvo showroom in Alexandra Road. The STOMPer wrote: "I was passing by the Volvo showroom at Alexandra Road and saw at least five to six Highway Patrol cars parked at the front. "Guys, watch out for them when you are on the road."

  11. MM: Aljunied GRC residents will regret choosing the WP By Leslie Koh VOTERS in Aljunied GRC who choose the Workers' Party (WP) team will regret it, said Minister Mentor Lee Kuan Yew on Friday night. 'If they choose (the opposition), then I say, good luck to them. They have five years to ruminate and to regret what they did. And I have no doubts they will regret it,' he said. The People's Action Party (PAP) team there comprises Foreign Affairs Minister George Yeo, Minister in the Prime Minister's Office Lim Hwee Hua, Senior Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Zainul Abidin Rasheed - who has been identified as a potential Speaker of Parliament - Madam Cynthia Phua and new face Ong Ye Kung, an assistant secretary-general of NTUC who is touted as a potential office holder. They are facing a challenge by a high-profile team from the WP comprising former Hougang MP Low Thia Khiang, former NCMP Sylvia Lim, the party's 'star catch' Chen Show Mao, a corporate lawyer with top academic qualifications; as well as family counsellor Muhamad Faisal Abdul Manap and post-graduate law student Pritam Singh. Speaking to reporters during a visit to Tampines, Mr Lee said the contest in Aljunied GRC could be boiled down to this issue: Do you want a capable team that can look after your interests, or do you want a team with little track record? 'At the end of the day, if you are in Aljunied, ask yourself: Do you want one MP, one Non-Constituency MP, one celebrity who has been away 30 years, and two unknowns to look after you?' Or, he continued, did voters prefer two ministers, one potential Parliament Secretary, one potential Speaker of Parliament, and one grassroots MP? 'Just ask yourself that,' he said http://www.straitstimes.com/GeneralElectio...ory_662848.html
  12. Haiz... many racers get away with it... but I feel if you really knock a person down, you will regret it for a long long time... http://singaporeseen.stomp.com.sg/stomp/sg...beach_road.html A woman was knocked down by a Nissan Skyline GT along Beach Road at 4.45pm today (Sept 17). STOMPer JT witnessed the accident and said that the driver had been recklessly racing with the driver of an Audi A4 before the collision occurred. In the STOMPer's email, the STOMPer wrote: "Two cars, a gray Nissan Skyline GT and a silver Audi A4 were racing and went really fast and reckless. They were changing lanes, from the first lane to the third lane and back again. "I spotted them from Parliament Place towards St Andrew Road and then to Beach Road. "The Nissan Skyline GT hit a woman. The silver Audi A4, which was also racing down the road, fled shortly after the accident. "The driver of the Nissan Skyline, young man alighted, the vehicle and tried to help but the situation looked very serious. "The woman who was hit, was not moving at all." STOMP contacted the Police and a spokesman said: "Police received a call today at about 4:40pm, about the accident along Beach Road towards Middle Road. "A Chinese woman in her late fifties suffered head injuries and was conveyed toSingapore General Hospital. "The driver was unhurt and is assisting with investigations. "Police investigations are on-going."

  14. The period of low COE is over, most car prices have increased almost 50% over the past 12mths. I'm glad for my decision to change car in mid 2008, although i did not buy at the lowest point but still good enough compare to the prices now. Initially I was aiming at the civic 2.0 which was selling at 80k but end up buying stream due to family need for space. Looking back now abit regret as i did not get the car of my 1st choice. How about u? Have u regret not buying a better car during the low COE? This chance is like once in a lifetime thing. What is your view?
  15. Snake bites man sitting on toilet bowl Taiwanese man felt a 'knife-like pain' when he sat down Mon, May 11, 2009 Reuters TAIPEI - A Taiwanese man became a sitting target for a snake, which bit his penis as sat on the toilet at his rural home, local media reported on Monday. "As soon as he sat down, he suddenly felt a knife-like pain and reacted instinctively by standing up," the China Times said. "When he looked down, he saw the big snake." The 51-year-old man, from Nantou County, was under medical care with minor injuries, a director at Puli Christian Hospital said. "As soon as he has passed the risk of infection, he can go," the director, who declined to be named, said. "A snake's mouth isn't always clean." Local television images showed the black and yellow reptile, reportedly a species of rat snake, being uncoiled and plucked slowly from the toilet bowl. Snakes regularly enter rural homes in Taiwan and other sub-tropical regions of Asia.
  16. Do u ever regret after giving way??? I did, last Friday. I was on the left most lane and was going to turn left in 1km away. I was 2 car length behind the car in front. On my right front, half car length forward of me, a car signalled left. I gladly let go accelerator n slowed down for him to change lane. After lane change, the MF slowed down drasticly n kept a 4-5 car length from the car in front!!! I lan lan follow behind as my turn off n his were abt 600m away. After turning left, I accelerated quickly n overtake the MF. It turns out to be a 50-60 yr old man driving a COE Ford Laser. The road speed limit was 70km/h. Sometimes such ppl dont deserved to be given way. I should jus speed up n kept pace wif him n make him miss a turn. Jus thinking only.
  17. Bought the Mitsubishi Colt Plus and got it just a week ago for the family. A good second car to drive around on those trips where you need four doors and a big boot to move things/people around. Bought it at a steal, and so far I still think i made a good buy though my wife and i do have a few peeves about it. Paid an extra $3,000 for ralliart kit, replace rear drum brakes with brake discs and other stuff that i can't remember... First most major problem we have with the car: Super Light Steering. I think the power steering is excessive. There's no weight or feedback in the steering completely. My PC gaming momo steering wheel is heavier and has more feedback that the Colt's steering. It's bad and dangerous. There's so little road-feel to the steering. And Second is the "button" feel pedals. The accelerator and brake feel like mere buttons. There's no distance between the pedals and the floor. Foot just "press" the acceleration and it's floored liao. Pedal leaves little room for braking too. It's a little easy to brake too hard, causing the car to jerk. Though we got used to it after just a day of cruising around. Third peeve is the HUGE A-pillar. If you're an inexperienced driver, you may miss an oncoming vehicle "hiding" in your left or right A-pillar (the "beam" that's next to your sideview mirror). The driver is seat in such a way that it's easy for him to be blocked nby the A-pillar. Not safe. Good thing my wife and i have experiences in quite a number of different cars to find it an adaptable problem. Wondering whether other Colt drivers feel the same way too. We've no complains about the lack of power or acceleration, since having paid a bargain basement price from C&C we don't expect super performance. Though I must say there are other 1.6litre cars out there that are quicker. We like its: fuel economy, spaciousness, cute looks and mp3/wma head unit. From the problems we've illustrated, you guys should be able to tell that my wife and i did not test-drive the car before buying it. Haha. Oh well, thought this type of car no need test drive one. But we still have no regrets. But we do have questions. Are there Colt drivers out there who have solutions to its "light steering"? Do u guys face the same problems with its huge A-Pillars?
