Hi all, I've not been to these 2 places. Just wondering which is a better choice for an island getaway for family with young children. Likely to stopover at Putrajaya prior going towards either one of them. Want to catch the smelly tofu at Cheras . In term of parking, which is more convenient at the jetty? since can't get the car into the island. Welcome feedback and suggestions. Thank you very much. Regards,

Started at 2230 hrs at Tuas 2nd link. exited at Yong Peng from NSH drove to Labis (encountered several potholes before Segamat) , Segamat then Kuantan (embarking on the coastal road up north) from Kuantan drove past Dungun then to Kuala Trengganu or KT. From KT to Merang Jetty. total time taken about 7hrs with 1 refilling stop in Cherating. reached my Merang jetty around 0520hrs, parked and slept till my ferry time at 0930 hrs on the downside, not many petrol station were openned at night, it took me a few stations to get 1 which was openned 24 hrs. (ESSO at Chukai, near Cherating) my route was planned nicely by my Garmain GPS using malsingmaps (Sept 08 version). Parked at Merang Jetty (RM10 for shelter lot) during my duration at Redang island. Car park is safe as far as my concern. Had a nice time on Redang. on returning, collected my car, drove slowly back to S'pore via Segamat for dinner.
