If you ask most people about what modifications they'd want to do on their vehicles if money was not an issue, chances are some aftermarket seats might not be on that list. For all the engine mods, suspensions upgrades, reflashed ECUs, and aftermarket wheels, most people often neglect something as simple as a comfortable, supportive, and well-made seat. Recaro, a German company that's been around since 1906, has its presence in a myriad of applications where people need to support their butts. Aircraft? Yes. Gaming chairs? Definitely. Cars, baby seats, and strollers? Of course. In fact, Recaro has been a leading manufacturer in aftermarket seats for decades now, even being tapped by manufacturers as OEM suppliers for their performance vehicles. Recaro also happens to be huge in Japan, so much so that they actually have some Japan-only models in their lineup; and they aren't cheap. So who better to explain the nuances of these exclusive models than the guys behind JDM Masters? This video takes us on a virtual tour of ASM Yokohama and its Recaro seat section. As with every Recaro, there is importance given to the way the spine is supported. The spine must always retain the position as if you were standing, with lumbar support being a primary feature on all Recaros. The seats vary wildly for the Japanese market, and you can even get a luxury seat to replace the seats in a minivan. Then you have semi-aggressive seats with some bolstering with varying levels of suede and leather applications. -
Can someone enlighten me where can I fix this onto my car? I called one of the reputable shop and the lady ask me from my car wat model and the recaro from which. When I told her she like blur. Tell me wat got this cannot mod got that cannot fit. End of the day ask me to bring down which I guess most likely will tell me cannot do and recommend me to buy their seats instead. Anyone can recommand one? Thanks

This is not your 'ordinary' WRX or STI. As much as the subtlety tries to hide, there are still little hints that will betray its true identity. This, is the Subaru Impreza S204. I'm not sure about the rest of you readers out there, but Subaru Imprezas and Mitsubishi Evos have a special place in my heart. In my childhood days, I spent a lot of time watching them at carpark rallies, instead of studying. And needless to say, I was all too happy to shoot this S204. A quick introduction of the S204. Based on the Japanese version of the 2.0-litre WRX STi (Singaporeans get the 2.5-litre version of the STi here), Subaru Technica International (STi) answered the request of its fans by giving the car more power and better handling through this limited run special. Only 600 units were said to be produced for sale in Japan but a quick search on the Internet revealed that the people living in New Zealand got a couple of units too. On that note, it is believed that every unit that made its way into Singapore had its number plaque removed. This troubled the previous owner, so while he was working in Japan, he got connected to the right people and managed to trace his car's number. It was unit 078/600. As mentioned, power was upped to 315bhp from 276bhp while torque went up to 431Nm. All these were achieved with the help of a twin scroll turbo design which was also featured in its predecessor, the S203. Turbo diameter in the S204 has been enlarged, while the turbine blade configuration has been altered to smooth out acceleration. Using a new turbo charger also necessitates the need to retune the ECU. Another highlight feature of the S204 is the installation of the Titanium muffler which helps lowers the exhaust back pressure. Of course, improvements were made to the chassis also. STi collaborated with Yamaha to develop a performance damper that improves handling immediately from the moment a driver turns in, through the turn, and at the exit. Other notable stuff include the strengthening of the spring rate by 50 percent and an increase of the rear sway bar diameter to counter body roll. As expected, STI-unique pink feature on the various bars and links... Similar to the S203, the S204 comes standard with super high performance P ZERO tyres by Pirelli. These tyres come mounted on lightweight aluminum forged BBS wheels in size 18 x 8.5. Moving inside, black was used on much of the instrument panel while lesser WRXs are painted in gunmetal colour. Usual JDM (Japanese Domestic Model) WRX STis get their speedometers rated till 180km/h but the S204 gets 260km/h ones. Other than Yamaha, STi also worked with Recaro to design these sexy lightweight bucket seats. Developed in Germany, the back is made of carbon while synthetic leather is used on the sides to add a touch of class. But frankly speaking, these seats aren’t exactly the most comfortable for long distance driving. Moving back to the exterior, STi gave the S204 some minor but significant aerodynamic upgrades. New carbon front underskirt lip spoiler and a newly designed rear spoiler improves airflow and provide added downforce. Other goodies done up by the previous owner include a turbo timer and HKS EVC boost controller. You may think that the car has since had its boost pressure increased but its current owner is more than happy with the stock boost pressure. I am guessing 320 horses are enough to piss some pesky taxis and hot hatches. Having tried another JDM 2.0-litre STi before, the S204's power delivery is noticeably smooth and more linear. This S204 also had its rotor upgraded courtesy of a well known japanese brand, ENDLESS. Unfortunately, there is still room for improvement in terms of brake modulation. All in all, the various upgrades to the S204 make it a significantly improved car over a normal STi. If I was looking for an AWD sedan that I would use for daily driving and give me the occasional thrill, this would be a great choice. Knowing that there are only 600 in the world makes it even more special.

US automotive supplier Johnson Controls is about to take over the Keiper Recaro Group, famous for vehicle seats (both commercial and passenger vehicles) as well as metal seat frames and structures and those RECARO bucket seats that we all love. An agreement for the sale of Keiper Recaro Group was entered into between Putsch GmbH & Co. KG, the holding company for Keiper Recaro and Johnson Controls. Most may not have heard of Johnson Controls, but they actually are market leaders in automotive car interiors (dashboards, consoles, door trims, etc)and electronics (the integration of electronics into interiors) with 130,000 employees in 1,300 locations on 6 continents. Not many have actually heard of Johnson Controls. Before actually knowing that they are one of the major players in the automotive industry I always thought of them to be either a pharmaceutical company or they did something related to pest control. This was a good couple of years back. Anyway, if approval by anti-trust authorities is given for the sale to be carried out, the passenger and commercial vehicle lines under Keiper Recaro will be under Johnson Controls while Recaro Aircraft Seating, Recaro Child Safety (child safety seats) and home/office furniture manufacturer Recaro Home will not be included as part of the sale. What basically happens is that Putsch Holding (the previous owners of Keiper Recaro) will retain the rights to the Recaro brand but Johnson Controls are given a long term license for the exclusive worldwide use of the brand for automotive and commercial seats. Let's talk about children, coffee and writing instruments for now. We'll start with children first. Children are also a large number of the human race that utilize cars to bring them around. Of course since they are too young and do not have a valid driving license, adults have to drive the around and to be safe, younger children use child safety seats and Recaro, makers of hip hugging, shoulder scrunching sport seats, also make a good number of child seats for parents to safely ferry their children around. They must be doing well in the child seat business that Recaro have just launched a new line of ProSeries models. This new line of child seats start with the ProRide which can be used in both rear or forward facing modes for newborns and small children. ProSport and ProBooster seats are also available for children up to 120lbs and feature energy absorbing foam and adjustable headrests. These little seats aren't cheap. But neither are the full size ones that adults use too. Next, for coffee lovers we have a Prancing Horse coffee maker called the Racepresso. This is a Ferrari endorsed helmet like coffee/espresso machine from Nespresso. It looks like a helmet. If you lift up the visor you will expose its snout, the chin has a drawer as well as other compartments. It is still in the concept stage but it will be darn cool if all the kinks can be worked out and the actual Prancing Coffee maker be sold for coffee drinking motoring enthusiasts everywhere. And lastly, we look at writing instruments or in other words, a pen. Maserati has lent its name towards the Omas for Maserati range of pens. The pens are limited edition pieces, 1914 in all with 1,200 in fountain pen type and another 714 in roller ball type. 1914 is a number that is steep in Maserati heritage in that it is the company's founding year. The pens look good and are made of sterling silver and according to Maserati's press release, strongly suggest the shape of the Maserati Gran Turismo.
