Was chatting with a fellow brother and we were arguing about how having turbo will contribute to FC. I was on the camp that having turbo, FC friendliness will only be achieved if the required gear-ratio vs RPM is achieved. He was on the camp that turbo is FC friendly regardless, only the max BHP i...

Hey guys. When making a car purchase decision, I believe in doing research online first before heading down to do the test drive. So specs on paper will determine what goes into my shortlist. I realise that sgcarmart shows the bhp for used cars. Problem is, I do not know which models to st...

Anyone can explain more on what is meaning of tall gear or short gear ratio and how it affects fc & acceleration? I read some saying that tall gear is good for fc but bad for acceleration?

Hi Guys, just want to know what is the perfect A/F ratio in our weather, for N/A engines.?My "Z" is running at 10.5:1 at W.O.T.,which is too high according to my tuner,so he have bring it down to 12.5:1 at W.O.T.,just want to know,"Leaner" will it ruin the engine.?Thanks.

Installing an A/F Ratio Meter is Good for your FC!
Mini-itx posted a topic in General Car Discussion
The purpose of monitoring your A/F ratio is let you know how you should control your right foot. IF you step too much, you notice the A/F going to the rich range (for more power), then you will back off the throttle and let it remain in stoichiometric range. IF not, you can have very light throttle...- 1 reply

Hi guys, I came across this passage when was reading an article about improving car performance: "Higher compression ratios produce more power, up to a point. The more you compress the air/fuel mixture, however, the more likely it is to spontaneously burst into flame (prior to the spark plug...

Please correct me if I'm wrong. I understand that a bored throttle body will improve low-end torque (and therefore increase FC) whilst changing your final drive ratio will improve your high-end torque (and therefore decrease FC). If I were to do these two mods together, what's the final effe...

During wide open throttle (WOT) or heavy revving, the reading should be RICH (or yellow LED reading). During deceleration, the reading is either not visible or at the LEAN (or red LED reading). So, if it's normal cruising, the reading should be moving from RICH-STOICH-LEAN-STOICH-RICH re...

i know this sounds abit stupid if some of ur see this.. but anyway, got intro into this method by one of a fellow MCFer driving a cabstar.. but then, he uses Shell 95.. i use Silver Techron (95) from Caltex.. i was just wondering if the petrol mix will make the consumption improve as the engine is "...

I've got a silly question. Why aren't steering wheels built to a turning ratio of 1:1? E.g. If you turn the Steering wheel of the car 90 degrees, the wheel should turn 90 degrees as well. Wouldn't a car like that be easier to drive? Just wondering....

Anyone can shed some light on what S/N ratio and THD means ? They are mentioned in most car amp tech specs ... e.g. THD at Rated Power: <0.08% @ 4 ohm (20 Hz - 20 kHz) S/N Ratio: >104 dB (A-weighted, 20 Hz

Hi, anyone can advice how lean can we push for TC car at high load and high rpm region? I am runing about 10.5:1 and that seems safe and stable. But had seen people going at 11.5:1 or even 12:1, much better power, but is it safe for the engine ? Anyone with proven experience can share ?

I noticed that the auto Octy's rpm is quite high when cruising. 100km/h at 3000rpm. Got once I hit 125km/h and the rpm was at 4000 and roaring! Anyone care to comment?

i have read quite a fair bit abt close ratio gearbox, all claim to be able to hit optimum RPM faster and stay within optimum RPM for respective powerbands of each gear. other than higher fuel consumption, i havent found out other disadvantages. anyone can enlighten me? thks.

Hi i just got this istalled at mcwell a few days ago. any of you got problems with a/f readings? somehow it's tell me my a/f ratios are 19 at idle and 15.4 at WOT, isn't this way to lean? checked my spark plugs at jc today and it looks perfectly normal. how? are my readings wrong or did...

My colleague want to change the front/rear wheel to different ratio. Front 50/15", Rear 55/15" and said his friend is doing that and acheive better performance, better pickup. I just feel that it's all bulls**t since their car is only FWD. It can never obtain performance from bigger rear wheel...
