Both these 2 cars are very close in depreciation in the used car market. Lancer Ralliart 1.8T is 4 speed auto, 165bhp, OMV 21K Lancer 2.0L EX auto is CVT, 155bhp , new model, OMV 18K Which is a better choice? Have only tested Ralliart turbo, engine is a little rough. Power is isn't that fantastic.

In a letter issued to its customers, Ralliart, a Japanese high-performance subsidiary of Mitsubishi, has announced that it is closing its doors. The company's business case has apparently faded, a victim of the wilting domestic aftermarket scene as well as its lack of continued motorsports involvement. Naturally, we wondered if and how the closure of the company responsible for its high-performance parts and related merchandise would impact the development, production and marketing of Mitsubishi vehicles sold here in the States

It looks like Mitsubishi's Ralliart division is going out of business in Japan. I have extracted from their website the following news / announcement: Partial Cease of Business Activities along with Ralliart Inc's Business Scale Down Ralliart Inc (President Masao Taguchi) has announced as follows. Dear all of our customers , First of all, we much appreciate for your usual patronage to our company. Our company have done the various activities relating motorsport with the support of many people since the establishment in April,1984 so far. However, because of the sudden change of economy situation since the year before last, the business circumstance surrounding our company radically became worse and so, this time we have reached the conclusion that we Ralliart Inc., would scale down our business activities as of the end of March 2010. Along with the scale down of our business activities this time, we would cease the following business and operation which we have done so far. We would like to express our sincere apology to all of customers though we would make you much inconveniences. Meanwhile, we wish you a continuous support to Ralliart family and entrants driving Mitsubishi cars who play an active part all over the world. Items which would cease our business and operation along with our business scale down; 1. Support to motorsport customers(Support to the participation, Technical Support, and Awarding of Mitsubishi/Ralliart Driver of the Year) 2. New Planning, Development and Merchandise of Ralliart products (Except FIA VO parts) :*1 3. Information of new products and dispatching motorsport information(at web):*2 *1 FIA VO parts development and those application work shall be done by Mitsubishi Motors Corporation as it is. *2 FIA Group-N information shall be open at the web site of Mitsubishi Motors Corporation. Date of the cease: 1st April, 2010 However since the announcement made on 10th March 2010, a United States auto website http://www.autoguide.com had met with Mitsubishi USA PR boss Maurice Durand, who stated that none of the changes will affect Ralliart products in the United States, or likely elsewhere in the world. Durand explained that the Ralliart subsidiary in Japan that makes high-performance and racing products for competition will close its doors, and that part of the company is separate from the rest. It seems Mitsubishi licenses the Ralliart name to different companies in different markets around the world and while those markets that rely on the Japanese Ralliart products will now need to find a new supplier, in some markets the Ralliart products were already supplied by other outside tuning companies. This could mean that Ralliart in Singapore would need to find their own supplier for pedal covers, jackets, gearknobs, or whatever stuff they have in their shop right now if they are importing everything from Japan. Or they may just close shop too. The global economic situation is making mince meat out of businesses and motorsports. Ralliart basically could no longer play a part in the current Mitsubishi business plan, as it used to be the division that handled most of Mitsubishi's motorsports. In 2005 Mitsubishi pulled out of the WRC and now they're pulling out of the Dakar rally. So what's left for Ralliart other than some Group N (Production WRC) business? Not much I presume as the current Lancer Evo is said to be too big and heavy for rallying. Whatever it is, this is sad news indeed. - a PWRC Evolution X

the new Lancer Ralliart will be here by next month, according to Carbuyer. with 240PS, 4WD, Twin Clutch transmission, and fierce look that beats the WRX's bland styling flat, it should become the new most bang-for-buck performance car, IF the asking price is not too much higher than the WRX. http://media.mitsubishi-motors.com/pressre...detail1801.html Inside Line's review: http://www.edmunds.com/insideline/do/Drive...icleId=127586#3

The main difference on the 2009 Ralliart is its turbocharger, which is a smaller, single-scroll unit instead of the twin-scroll turbo in the Evolution X. The Ralliart also has its own intake system, while the exhaust system is shared. ->The result is 237 horsepower at 6,000 rpm and 253 pound-feet of torque at 3,000 rpm. The torque band is amazingly flat, with close to 250 lb-ft available from 2,500-4,500 rpm. Redline is 6,500 rpm. ->0-60 mph in 6 seconds and a quarter-mile time in the mid-14-second range. 30K USD... on liao la

2009 Mitsubishi Lancer Ralliart... we're sold Mitsubishi has made up for the crimes it perpetrated on enthusiasts with the last two generations of the Lancer Ralliart. In atonement for its sins, it's fitted the new Ralliart with a detuned version of the 4B11T pulled from the Evolution X, producing 235 hp and an unknown amount of torque. Additionally, Mitsubishi has decided to fit the Twin Clutch-SST transmission, pulled from the high-power and high-priced Evo X MR. The TC-SST clicks off the shifts through a set of steering wheel mounted paddles and sends power to a full-time all-wheel-drive system equipped with Mitsubishi's Active Center Differential (ACD). The exterior is so reminiscent of the Ralliart's big Evolved brother that we're sure it'll be mistaken for the X and in addition to the absolutely boss Recaro buckets, the interior materials and amenities seem several notches above its base brethren. On a personal note: As the guy that berated the Lancer ES in our recent Garage review, when the Mitsubishi Lancer Ralliart goes on sale this summer, I'll be one of the first ones in line. It's obvious that the Ralliart is aimed squarely at Subaru's WRX and if they can keep the price around the Subie's (about $25k), the Ralliart stands as one of the performance bargains of the decade. And just think of the mods.... upzzzzz

And just think of the mods.... Check Mitsubishi's full press release after the jump and our gallery of live and press shots below. RELEASE The new Lancer Ralliart reinforces the sporty identity of the Lancer lineup (Lancer, Lancer Ralliart and Lancer Evolution) with aggressive styling and driving performance that creates a unique product between the Lancer GTS 2.4 and the Lancer Evolution models. The Lancer Ralliart makes effective use of the Lancer's rigid unibody and four-wheel independent suspension by mating this capable chassis to a turbocharged engine and all-wheel-drive. Mechanical Lancer Ralliart is powered by the new 4B11 2.0-liter DOHC MIVEC intercooled and turbocharged engine (also used in the Lancer Evolution) that develops an estimated 235 horsepower. The engine is mated to Mitsubishi's efficient Twin Clutch-SST gearbox that helps enhance the sporty nature of the vehicle by allowing the driver to execute lightning-quick, silky-smooth, paddle-actuated shifts. The TC-SST transmission also operates in fully automatic modes for Normal and Sport driving conditions. The Lancer Ralliart's full-time 4WD driveline features Mitsubishi's Active Center Differential (ACD). The ACD unit employs an electronically controlled multi-plate clutch center differential, vectoring drive torque to the front and rear according to different driving conditions to realize the best balance between steering response and traction characteristics on Tarmac, Gravel, or Snow surfaces. Lancer Ralliart is also equipped with front helical limited slip differential and a rear differential mechanical limited slip differential. Design Elaborating on the basic sporty design and proportions of the Lancer, the Lancer Ralliart exterior is distinguished by its more aggressively styled front bumper design, rear bumper cover, dual outlet muffler and a lightweight aluminum, ducted hood that delivers cooling air to the turbocharger. The interior design places greater emphasis on function and vehicle control. Lancer Ralliart is equipped with FAST key, Bluetooth

High-Performance Mitsubishi Lancer Spied Ralliart ? The 2008 Mitsubishi Lancer is already on sale in three different models (DE, ES, and GTS), all powered by a 2.0 liter inline 4-cylinder engine. Now these latest photos taken in Death Valley capture a high-performance prototype being tested in hot weather conditions. One look at the huge dual exhaust pipes makes it clear that this is not the standard 2-liter engine. A look at the front also shows an intercooler mounted just behind the lower grille opening. Without question, this thing is turbocharged. But what is it, exactly? Mitsubishi is famous for its high-performance Lancer Evo, but the Evo always has a huge rear spoiler and bulging fender flares. http://www.autospectator.com/modules/news/...hp?storyid=6286 Mitsubishi News - Mitsubishi Introduces New 258-HP Mitsubishi Galant Ralliart To Spearhead Restyled, Refined 2007 Mitsubishi Galant Model Line Posted by admin on 2006/10/13 12:13:32 (117 reads) October 12, 2006 -- CYPRESS, Calif. -- Mitsubishi Motors North America, Inc. (MMNA) has introduced the new high-performance Galant Ralliart model to lead the restyled and enhanced Galant mid-size sedan line for 2007. The Mitsubishi Galant Ralliart is powered by a 258-hp 3.8-liter V-6 engine and equipped with a five-speed Sportronic® automatic transmission, sport suspension, 18-inch alloy wheels and exclusive exterior styling and interior features to challenge leading sport sedans - and to do it with better value. All Mitsubishi Galant models for 2007 add standard side curtain air bags to their comprehensive safety package, which also includes advanced front air bags with occupant sensors and front seat-mounted side-impact air bags. The Galant has achieved across-the-board five-star ratings in the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) offset frontal and side impact crash tests. The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety awarded Galant its highest ranking - "Good" overall - in its frontal offset and side impact crash tests. The revised styling of all 2007 Mitsubishi Galant models is highlighted by a sophisticated new front-end treatment. Interior design and materials have been enhanced, and ride and handling have been refined to provide greater comfort and a more engaging driving experience. A new DVD navigation system with seven-inch touch screen is available as a factory option on the Galant Ralliart model. "The 2007 Galant Ralliart makes a resounding statement about Mitsubishi's "Driven to Thrill" performance and design with its bold, modern, and a uniquely Mitsubishi interpretation of what a mid-size performance sedan should be," said Hiroshi Harunari, president and chief executive officer of Mitsubishi Motors North America, Inc. (MMNA). "The Ralliart shows the direction that we're taking the Galant - and the brand." New Styling, New Choices All Galant models for 2007 are identified by an updated, more sophisticated front end design featuring a new grille with chrome surround, plus a new front fascia and new bumper. The rear bumper fascia is also revised in line with the front appearance. An exclusive sport mesh grille, two-tone color bumpers, color-key side air dams, 18-inch alloy wheels and Ralliart badges distinguish the Galant Ralliart. Its front end also stands apart from other Galant models with projector-style four-bulb ellipsoid headlamps. With the arrival of the Galant Ralliart for 2007, the GTS model assumes a more luxury-leaning role in the lineup, in place of the discontinued LS model. The Galant DE and ES models are powered by a 160-hp MIVEC-enhanced 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine teamed to a standard four-speed automatic transmission with Sportronic, which enables manual shift control. Ralliart: A Complete Grand Touring Performance Package Galant Ralliart has the heart of a high-performance GT car - the Mitsubishi Eclipse GT, to be precise. Its 3.8-liter V-6 produces 258 hp at 5,700 rpm and 258 lb.-ft. of peak torque at 4,500 rpm, placing it among the most powerful models in the segment and making it a serious challenger to the Acura TSX and TL models and the MazdaSpeed 6. Galant Ralliart is capable of accelerating from zero-to-60 mph in about seven seconds. The Mitsubishi Innovative Valve Timing Electronic Control (MIVEC) system helps optimize power and engine efficiency across a broad engine speed range. As an example of MIVEC's benefits, the large-displacement V-6 is already producing 220 lb.-ft. of torque at just 2,000 rpm, giving the Galant Ralliart forceful off-the-line response. The Galant GTS continues with a 230-hp version of the 3.8-liter V-6 and also gains the new five-speed Sportronic automatic transmission. The Mitsubishi Galant Ralliart features its own, higher-rate springs and dampers and is exclusively equipped with a 21-mm rear stabilizer bar. The Ralliart's 235/45R-18 all-season tires are mounted to 18 x 8-inch seven-spoke aluminum alloy wheels. Inside, Galant Ralliart combines exclusive design and luxurious appointments to rival more expensive models. Standard features in this special model include perforated leather-trimmed seating surfaces; heated front seats; an automatic climate control system; a power glass sunroof with sunshade, and Homelink transmitter with auto- dimming rear view mirror. Aluminum pedals and Micro-delta print accent panels further distinguish the Ralliart interior. Galant Ralliart Ready for Driving - and "Driving Music" Mitsubishi is the first auto manufacturer to factory-install the Rockford Acoustic Design premium audio system, making it standard equipment on the 2007 Galant Ralliart and available for Galant ES and GTS models. This high-end audio system - one of the most advanced on the market - provides AM/FM/CD/MP3 playback capability, including a 6-disc in-dash CD changer. The linear 8-channel amplifier produces 360 watts continuous at less than 0.02% THD. A dedicated channel drives each loudspeaker for the ultimate in sonic control. Silk dome tweeters mounted on the leading edge of the dash produce a natural multi-dimensional soundstage. Digital Signal Processing optimizes output to provide user-selectable listening environments, including "Normal," "Studio," "Club" and "Concert." The good sounds continue in Galant Ralliart with the standard SIRIUS Satellite Radio package with a six-month free subscription. This package is also available for the ES and GTS models. Galant Ralliart without the optional navigation system features a standard 4.9-inch color LCD display that provides outside temperature and a compass, as well as a trip computer with fuel mileage information, a door alarm indicator, maintenance recorder, and calendar. The display also provides an interface that allows owners to customize settings for many of the vehicle's interior functions. Robust Platform for Sporty Driving Fine-tuning the body structure for greater rigidity enhances ride and handling in all Mitsubishi Galant models for 2007. For the Galant Ralliart, the stiffened structure provides the ideal base for the exclusive sport suspension tuning and 18-inch alloy wheels with low-profile tires. The proven MacPherson strut design front suspension system attaches to a sub-frame with a large, rigid cross member for responsive handling and reduced noise, vibration and harshness. The low-mounted, multi-link rear suspension features stiff hydro-formed cross members that minimize flex and help reduce road noise. The Galant DE and ES models ride on standard 16-inch wheels with 215/60R16 tires; the GTS steps up to 17-inch alloy wheels with 215/55R17 tires. Ralliart and GTS models feature a standard tire pressure monitoring system, which is included in the optional Sport Package for the Galant ES. All Galant models are equipped with four-wheel disc brakes, with the GTS and Ralliart models featuring larger front discs, and the Ralliart also getting larger rear discs. An anti-lock braking system (ABS) with Electronic Brake-force Distribution (EBD) is standard on all Galant models, except the DE. Enhanced Refinement for 2007 Galant provides a roomy midsize package with 101.1 cu. ft. of passenger space and a generous 37 inches of rear legroom - more room than the MazdaSpeed 6 or Volkswagen Jetta GLI sport sedans. For 2007, new door trim, a new knit-fabric headliner, new steering wheel design and chrome trim details convey a more refined appearance. New seat trim and color choices provide a warmer interior feeling than before. Premium Comfort, Great Value New for 2007, customers can infuse the Galant ES with some of the style and comfort of the V-6 Galant models by ordering the optional Sport Package and Premium Package. The Sport Package adds head-turning style with 16-inch alloy wheels, dark bezel halogen headlamps, crystal covered ellipsoid rear lamps, and a color-keyed rear spoiler. Inside, the Sport Package equips the ES model with the Rockford Acoustic Design premium audio system and the SIRIUS Satellite Radio package with six months free subscription. The ES Premium Package brings in leather-trimmed seating surfaces, leather-wrapped steering wheel with audio controls, power glass sunroof with sunshade, auto-dimming rear view mirror with Homelink transmitter and additional trim details. The Sun and Sound option package for the Galant GTS adds a power glass sunroof, the Rockford Acoustic Design premium audio system and the SIRIUS Satellite Radio package, auto-dimming rear view mirror with Homelink transmitter and anti-theft alarm system. All Galant models are built in the Mitsubishi manufacturing plant in Normal, Ill., one of the industry's most flexible assembly plants. In addition to the Galant, this facility produces the the Endeavor mid-size SUV; Eclipse coupe and Eclipse Spyder models. Premium Warranty Mitsubishi cars, sport utility vehicles and pickup trucks are backed by comprehensive new vehicle limited warranties. Mitsubishi cars and sport utility vehicles come with a 10-year/100,000 mile powertrain limited warranty, along with a 5-year/60,000 mile bumper to bumper new vehicle limited warranty. Mitsubishi pickup trucks are covered by a 5-year/60,000 mile bumper to bumper new vehicle limited warranty that also includes powertrain components. All Mitsubishi vehicles have a 7-year /100,000 mile anti-corrosion/perforation limited warranty, along with 5-years/unlimited miles Roadside Assistance, which includes free towing to the nearest authorized Mitsubishi retailer. Mitsubishi Motors North America, Inc., (MMNA) is responsible for all manufacturing, finance, sales, marketing and research and development operations of the Mitsubishi Motors Corporation in the United States. Mitsubishi Motors sells coupes, convertibles, sedans, a mid-size pickup truck and sport utility vehicles through a network of approximately 540 dealers. 2007 Mitsubishi Galant At-A-Glance The new Mitsubishi Galant Ralliart spearheads the restyled and enhanced Galant mid-size sedan line for 2007. Galant Ralliart is a complete performance package, designed to challenge leading sport sedans, but with better value. Galant Ralliart is exclusively powered by a 258-hp 3.8-liter MIVEC V-6 engine and equipped with a five-speed automatic transmission with Sportronic to allow manual gearshift control. The MIVEC (Mitsubishi Innovative Valve Timing Electronic Control) system helps optimize engine efficiency and power across a broad engine speed range. The Galant Ralliart can accelerate from zero-to-60 mph in about seven seconds. Ralliart-tuned sport suspension and 18-inch alloy wheels yield sharp handling response, and this special model is distinguished by exclusive exterior styling and interior features. Galant Ralliart treats occupants with perforated leather-trimmed seating surfaces, heated front seats, automatic climate control system, power glass sunroof and Homelink transmitter with auto dimming rear view mirror. Its standard Rockford Acoustic Design premium audio system includes SIRIUS Satellite Radio with a six-month free subscription. Galant offers three other trim levels for 2007: the DE and ES models are powered by a MIVEC-enhanced 160-hp 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine teamed to a four-speed automatic transmission with Sportronic. The GTS steps up to a 230-hp 3.8-liter V-6 with the five-speed Sportronic transmission. All Galant models get a sophisticated new look for 2007 with redesigned front and rear bumper fascias and a new grille with chrome surround. The Ralliart is further distinguished by a unique front aero bumper, sport mesh grille projector-style ellipsoid headlamps, two-tone bumpers and color-keyed side air dams. Galant's interior design and materials have been enhanced, and ride and handling refined to provide greater comfort and a more engaging driving experience. The Galant Ralliart model also offer a new DVD navigation system with a seven-inch touch screen. The Rockford Acoustic Design premium audio system with SIRIUS Satellite Radio package is also available for the ES and GTS. New for 2007, customers can infuse the Galant ES with some of the style and comfort of the V-6 Galant models by ordering the optional Sport Package and Premium Package. All Galant models for 2007 add standard side curtain air bags to the comprehensive safety package, which also includes advanced front air bags with occupant sensors and front seat-mounted side-impact air bags. The Galant achieved across-the-board 5-star ratings in the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) offset frontal and side impact crash tests. The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) awarded Galant its highest ranking - "Good" overall - in its frontal offset and side impact crash tests.
