Who say Singaporean can only be kiasu? They can be creative too! Hahahahaha How to beat a beeline Q like this? It is so simple, just use these! On Friday (23 Aug), the Facebook page for the Bishan community group, Bishan East Zone 1 Residents’ Network (RN), posted about an incident of people chope-ing queue spots with items at a food rescue event instead of physically queueing. The event took place at the Bishan East Zone 1 Green Hub, located at Block 112 Bishan Street 12. Food rescues are community events where unwanted food collected by volunteers is redistributed to residents. This serves to both reduce food wastage and give food to those who need it. According to their Facebook page, the Bishan East Zone 1 RN food rescue events are bring-your-own-bag and first-come-first-served. No reservations were allowed. The 23 Aug food rescue event had been a success, with “overwhelming support” from residents, many of whom got up early to queue for the event. “We appreciate the early bird zeal in queuing up for restocks in good orderliness & neighbourliness,” the Facebook post said. However, in the same Facebook post, the Bishan East Zone 1 Green Hub Food Rescue Team also noted that people were chope-ing spaces in the queue like they were at a hawker centre. To illustrate what had happened, they posted two photos. The first one showed a line of people queuing physically; this post was accompanied by a smiley face emoji sticker. On the other hand, second photo showed a queue of inanimate objects, mostly plastic bags, held down by stones from the nearby community garden. This one featured a shocked emoji sticker instead. The team acknowledged that the chope-ing was creative but prohibited. “All items found lying on the floor will be deemed as litter and cleared or confiscated,” the post warned. Coincidentally, the queue also started right next to a pillar with a “no littering” sign plastered on it.

Especially at highway near the chevron marking. Is it illegal?

The results for Dawson are out. I applied for the 4-room flat which has 1,400 units up for ballot. My queue number is 1,900. So what happens? Will I get be able to get a higher level unit, or will I be able to get a unit at all?

Went for the annual Qing Ming session yesterday at Peck San Theng @ Bishan. In other years, we will avoid the 2 weeks before and 2 weeks after the actual day, to avoid the expected jam. This year, though, my uncle asked my mother to go yesterday (which I realized only when i asked being stuck in the jam, that it's the very weekend of Qing Ming) as my that works best for my cousins. Big mistake! I went via CTE side and missed the long queue which started before SPH, then had the bad experience of having to try to cut into the bumper-to-bumper queue of cars waiting to turn into Peck San Theng… Even before I reached there (to start to squeeze), at the traffic light, can hear got cars sounding (not sounded) their horns non-stop - an indication of the frustration of being obediently queueing but seeing other vehicles cutting in in front. The fact that the cars inside the single-lane road were crawling (as most cars will stop to allow passengers to alight somewhere inside, hence stopping traffic), doesn't help. 10+ years ago, when caught in such jams, I would let my folks alight on the main road, then I proceed to go to the HDB carpark opp RI to park and walk over, so as not to get caught in the unpleasant situation like yest. Now my folks are 79 and 82, and my mother had knee op on one leg last year, and is going for the other leg next month. She walks with a walking stick, very very slowly - but refuses to use wheelchair. Yest was to pray to her late parents and elders, and she insisted must go. Wouldn't have been able to make her walk the long distance from main road to go in... Really no choice but had to resort to squeezing in and cutting queue. Can feel the frustration and unhappiness of the other drivers. To them all, very sorry for the bad driving behavior. Apology... Already told my mum, next year if my cousins/uncle side said can only make it on the '2+2' peak weekends, then we split and go separately. Confirm don't want to do this again.

http://en.rocketnews24.com/2015/01/13/youll-never-guess-what-these-chinese-students-are-lining-up-for/ You’ll never guess what these Chinese students are lining up for! Hayashi 'Fang' Hougi6 hours ago 0 Ever since Mr. Sato returned from his annual overnight vigil to obtain an Apple Lucky Bag, we learned that humans are able to withstand adverse conditions in queues driven solely by their utmost desire for something. Just look at these Apple lovers who braved snowfor their favorite brand! So when you see these students in China lining up, we bet your guess is that they are getting $1 TVs…or concert tickets for the latest K-pop star…or perhaps a free iPhone. The answer, however, is none of the above; these students are in fact lining up to… …get into the library! What you see are students from the Nanjing University of Finance and Economics queuing up, not for free food or a sale, but to get a spot in the library so they can study for their finals! The pictures were taken at about 7:40 AM and the diligent crowd has formed into long, snaking lines leading to the doors of the library. Note that in Nanjing the temperature drops to 2℃ (35°F) and the grass and leaves around the building were all covered in frost. As the final exams draw near, many students find themselves most productive when studying in the warm library. In order to meet student demands, the school has extended library hours and also dispatched staff members to manage the lines so that students can waste no time in getting into the library in an orderly fashion. As someone whose primary activity in the library has always been napping, I am starting to feel a little ashamed of myself for not studying harder. Maybe it’s time I hit up my school library which doesn’t require freezing in a queue to get into. Did this inspire you to work just a little harder?

In recent days commuters in Singapore have cultivated the good habit of forming an orderly line before entering the train at the MRT station, but one auntie ups the ante by queueing -- with her grocery bags. Stomper Safwan spotted a middle-aged woman placing her grocery bags near the doors on the MRT platform yesterday, Jan 28, in a bid to chope her place in the queue before boarding at Ang Mo Kio station. According to him, she had placed her groceries on her floor before proceeding to have a seat. Other commuters, thinking it was some unattended bags, picked them up and tried to move them away or find the owner. The auntie then shouted from her seat, asking them to leave the bags alone and to put them back in their place. She told everyone she just wanted to rest, while still having a place in the queue. The Stomper said: "I find it inappropriate to do this as people might trip over if they don't notice the bags.." All the other commuters then proceeded to queue behind her grocery bags, waiting for the next train to arrive. was queuing behind a latio where a audi driver tries to last min cuts in and jump q infront of him.(i notice this audi always dont q and cut in at last min as it's not the first time i met this audi) the latio infront dont want to give way but audi die die want to squeeze in,then i saw the latio owner wind down his window and gesture to the audi driver to wind down also.at the same time i also kaypo and wind down to see what's gonna happen.then i heard the latio driver shouted something like asking the audi driver whether his family member is dying in hospital,if so then he will let him cut in.i didn't heard any shouting back from the audi driver and the latio continue his way and didnt let the audi cut in. i am thinking this audi driver must have alot of family member to die everyday because most of the time when i was queuing along this road, this audi always zooms past me and cut in at the front. oh,i also follow the latio as well and didnt let the audi cuts in.

Have been watching all 3 episodes of the food stalls recommended. As was in the vinity of Ang Mok Kio Ave 6, went to try Yunus N Family "famous" for their Gado-gado & Mee soto. Waited 30mins in the Q for both food . After eating, felt gado-gado gravy watery & little, with little ingredients. As for mee soto, soup taste rather ordinary, no "kick" even after adding their chili paste. My opinion - 不值得 Those who have tried other stalls recommended, feel free to input your comment/feedback

I see it all the time: people queuing up at the counter while their car is being filled up. When it's their turn to pay and the car is not ready, the cashier will signal for the second chap to move up. When their car is ready, they will be first in the queue. When you have a few people doing it, it sometimes causes congestion and confusion; and everyone is delayed due to the crowd. I only queue up after my car is ready. Am I being stupid or what?

I'm at clinic now, here for 2 consecutive days. Yesterday I called to get queue number at 10am only got to see doc at about 1230. Waited another half hr for medicine. Had 2 days Mc as I've throat inflammation and fever. Saw blood in my phlegm twice so decided to see doc again today. Called clinic to take queue number at 8am. I'm still waiting for my turn, 2 or 3 more to go. I think by the time I get my medicine, it'll be 1pm, earliest. I usually come to this medical group clinic as there is one female doc who is v good, patient and thorough in her diagnosis. Many patients will ask to see her. So it's normal to wait a long time if queueing to see her. I've tried many docs in my area and I find that many of them really cannot make it, like prescribe wrong medicine, prescribe lots of unnecessary medicine, does not do diagnosis etc. One ultimate example was a relatively young doc, very ah beng type, he would sit there shaking his leg (literally), and ask you "what you want". You say "I feel giddy..." "ok give you medicine for giddiness, what else?" "Headache...""ok give you painkiller, what else?" "Nothing." "Ok that's all" doesn't take temperature if you don't complain of fever. I suspect he was trained to be a medicine dispenser, not doctor. I wonder if this is the norm? I miss the doctor-owned clinics, coz they usually more responsible as they are running their own biz, unlike those serving in medical group clinics, many of them treat it like a job. Sadly, the young estate I'm staying in doesn't have many docs in private practice. Seen a very young female doc once, also cannot make it, only out to earn money.

If you know a way "around" a queue that lets you cut it without jumpiing the queue is it ethical to use it? For example, driving CTE towards city, if traffic is at a standstill, can take AMK ave 3 exit, go straight at traffic lights and then rejoin the other end. Or maybe there is a way to "go around the block" cutting out 90% of the jam, and then rejoining later...is this ok? And I am talking real jams, not just traffic slowdown, and you are leaving the cue, and rejoining in front of where you would otherwise have been... is it ok?
