  1. So now, you have put your precious money into buying that dream car and the day that it arrives in Singapore has come! It lands in our port, someone picks it up and it gets transported to our showrooms for collection. Have you ever wondered about the fuel that goes into the car? Does it come empty? How much fuel goes into it? What kind of fuel goes into it? Well here is the story of two companies who choose a quaint little station in the West Coast to top up the fuel for their new arrivals. Both Honda and Toyota use a small Shell station down South, close to the Pasir Panjang MRT, and everyday, rain or shine, more than a dozen car transporters stop here to fill up the cars they carry. If you do the maths, that’s about a ten cars or so per transporter and more than 100 cars each day! It also gives you an idea of the sales volume of these bigger car companies. The station has a total of eight pumps, and the two outermost pair are equipped with extra long hoses, which allow the driver to reach the second deck of his transporter truck, without having to move the long truck. And yes it’s usually the driver who does the job, rather than the regular fuel attendants, but they do help out sometimes. It typically takes the driver around half an hour or more to refuel all the cars in one load. So you get a full tank? Sadly no, they will give you 50 bucks worth of the golden liquid, and it’s Ron 95 for these cars. Diesel cars obviously get a different oil, but it’s still the same amount. Given current petrol prices, you will get around a quarter tank, depending on how large the fuel tank is. Other car companies have tie ups with other stations, but the more premium marques may give you a full tank if you get their more expensive cars, but most car dealers only give you around a quarter tank. Enough for you to run about for a while, but with fuel prices so high, I guess unless you are a top valued customer, a quarter tank will have to do. Cars requiring a higher Ron do get a different grade of fuel, but whether that makes a difference is left to another story to answer…. Who says Toyotas aren't selling well?
  2. hi all... this topic has been discussed before i'm sure... well lately i read tis article by NUS motoring club Mr. MAHINDRA... he said his tyres were pumped with nitrogen and that his tyre pressur was STILL THE SAME AFTER 10000KM... sure anot??? i understand Nitrogen in present in the air... so there will be nitrogen in our tyres even if we used a normal air pump... after awhile air will escape... in a matter of a few day as i have noticed.... but the nitrogen inside will still be there... so after say 20000km of driving and pumping once a week... the percentage of nitrogen WILL increase correct?... maybe if tyres last long enuf eventually will be mostly nitrogen in the tyres... haha anyways those of you who have nitrogen filled tyres... is it true 10000km still same tyre pressure??? if yes i am going to head off immediately to fill my tyres with nitrogen... keke...

  6. Got an email from someone.. and would like to share with bros/sis..!Can't verify the validity of the story... but its worth shar ================ Just a short story to remind you guys to collect your receipt whenfilling petrol in malaysia. while queueing at the customs for our turn to stamp our passports to goback S'pore, 2 malay guys wearing esso polo tees, probably from thestation whr i filled my tank, approached us and told us that we did not pay for our petrol(pls note i've already handed our passports to the custom officer). Of cos we told him we paid but the malay guy asked mefor receipt which i cant produce since i don't normally ask from the counter.Hearing that, the officer, while holding the passports, refused to letus go unless we settle the payment. even after telling them so many times that we paid, they don't let us go, and asked 1 of us to follow hem back to check the cctv.of cos we didn't agree and told the officer to let all of us go back together to check, he said yes, but have to leave the passports with him as he claimed that he had already stampedone of our passports, Rubbish! cos we didn't see him stamp anything. In the end, my fren, who was rushing back to Singapore decided to just pay them 'again'and end the problem. the two guys looked happy as if the trip to lookfor us at the custom paid off. in the end, i paid them 62RM when i only pumped 56.50RM worth of synergy F1 petrol. After that, the 2 guys walkedto the officer's booth and shake hands w the officer and the senior, happily. in front of us man..... it appears that the staffs at the petrol stations will informed those people waiting at the customs ifthey noticed anyone leaving the station without the receipt. So bros and sis, pls rem to collect your receipt when paying foranything, yes anything there. Who knows what story they may have nexttime. Don't give these ppl a chance to earn bonus.
  7. Reported on the Chinese evening papers tonight. One uncle drove his Toyota Estima to a petrol station in Yishun. The receipt showed that 75 litres of petrol was pumped into the 65-litre capacity fuel tank. How could that have happen? Sometimes, it's good to check your receipt.
