  3. A lightened crank pulley is a common and relatively inexpensive modification that is commonly used to extract promised power of about 5-10. However, the risks that lie with doing such a mod when the end product is poorly constructed/engineered can be significant. Sharing a link where Steve Dinan from Dinan BMW writes in detail on such risks. http://www.dinancars.com/bmw/technial-info...harmonic-damper Leave no doubts of the engineering behind the crank pulley you are about the purchase as the long term health of your engine may suffer if the inferior product is poorly balanced.
  4. Which brand of crank pulley to change? And which workshop to go? What are the pros and cons? Expert advice pls.

  13. Hi, Any benefit of replacing to lightweight pulley, or doesn't help much! Which open pod would u recommend? thanks
  14. Yo bro's.... finally got my lightweight pulley from Unorthordox (meant originally for DC5).... supposed to be set of 3 - crank, alternator and power steering... but to my dismay, found out that power steering pulley is specially bolted on - and you'll need special tools to take out, and the Stream alternator pulley is structured differently with this stupid extension... so end up only with the crank replaced.
  15. Anyone tried it ? At $260 (after 10% discount), it's really tempting ! Problem is, it seems that McWell OEM from some unknown source (Maximum Velocity is McWell's brand), so trustable ? http://www.onemotoring.com.sg/publish/onem...engine_oil.html
  16. Just heard they're making their own pulley (similar to Carlsson) kit for the 1.8L M271 Kompressor engine, likely due end of Dec. Couple that with Brabus tuning, and we should have a sweet performance upgrade for the C200K, E200K, SLK200, CLK200 series. I'm waiting to see how this turn out. Anyone else tuned your rides at MBM Wheelpower?
  17. hi,anyone try before?for Mit Lancer...or Proton Waja.. Thanks
  18. Did my 70K servicing 1.5 mths back & the mechanic told me the above. Cost about $250+ At that I thought of waiting till tbe 80K servicing. Going to Malaysia for holiday next week, so this thing pops into my mind. Maybe I should change them for safety. Normally, what's the replacement period ? Car reaching 2 yrs next mth.
  19. by replacing the cam pulley, do we need to replace other mechanical part/s at the same time?? bet i driving a civic ES5. thanks
  20. Hi folks, Got a novice question tat i will like to ask... HEhehhe During my last 80K service at Borneo Motors, the sales person told me tat i need to replace my water Pump Pulley and belt at the costs at ard $300 plus to $400. During tat time im already quite broke then i said i would like to KIV first but the truth is i would like to chk out the prices from workshops outside . Since im a total idiot to car mechanics and stuff. Is replacing the water pump pulley and belt a serious matter ?. I dunno wat does the water pump pulley does but i think the slight noise im experiencing when the car is idling does come from the belt or something? Is the price of $300-$400 expensive for such replacements? And what are the workshops outside charging for replacing these parts and ideally where could i get it done ? Thnks in advance for any valuable advise tat are to be given.
  21. See the difference The Kleemann Pulley/K-Box performance kit does to Merc's M271 engine (current 1.8 l Kompressor used in C180K, C200K, C230K and E200K). 22. yo, anyone has any idea where to do both at the same plc and of cos gd price? thx u!
  23. What is the advantage of having the item as said in the title?
  24. Did anyone tried performance underdrive pulley? I heard that it is the modification that will produce significant results, though not as much as turbo. Hehe. A website says that it improves hp all thru the rpm range. Quote Unorthodox Racing Underdrive Pulley - Now this is when I felt something. The car accelerates a little quicker, and flooring it will get you to speed (and higher) a bit quicker. My idle is actually smoother now; there are no vibrations, no problems with charging the battery, and my AC acts no different. It's long term reliability is still under question, but I don't forsee any problems. I've driven my car fairly hard since I had it installed (2.5+ years and counting) and if it wasn't balanced or would cause some immediate distress on my engine, I'm sure I would of noticed it by now. Is any there drive belt alterations after the pulley is put on? I am asking this because if the shape, size and specifications of the pulley is exactly the same as factory, I can get any mechanic to put it on for me, if not, I'll have to find one who knows how to tune the car well to the new pulleys..
