Recently been doing appraisals for my guys and this question came up. People always like to ask why i promote this guy and not them. caused quite a bit of unhappiness. i guess it's quite normal. Mr Heng Swee Keat will be promoted to Deputy Prime Minister. He will remain as Minister for Finance, and continue chairing the Future Economy Council and National Research Foundation. He will be appointed Acting Prime Minister in the Prime Minister’s absence. Mr Teo Chee Hean and Mr Tharman Shanmugaratnam will relinquish their appointments as Deputy Prime Ministers. They will be appointed Senior Ministers and remain in Cabinet. Mr Teo will continue as Coordinating Minister for National Security. Mr Tharman will be re-designated as Coordinating Minister for Social Policies. Mr Ng, 40, the husband of PAP MP Tin Pei Ling, will replace Mrs Ow Foong Pheng, who will be appointed Permanent Secretary (Trade and Industry). Mrs Ow is the ministry's Second Permanent Secretary doing the job of Permanent Secretary when Mr Ravi Menon moved to the Monetary Authority of Singapore in April 2011 to replace managing director Heng Swee Keat, who was entering politics. Mr Heng is now Education Minister. The new appointments were announced on Friday by the Public Service Division in the Prime Minister's Office. It also said that from Oct 2, Mr Teo Ming Kian, Permanent Secretary (National Research and Development) and Advisor (Special Projects) in the Ministry of Finance will relinquish both his appointments at the end of his re-employment. Ms Yong Ying-I, Permanent Secretary (Health), will be concurrently Permanent Secretary (National Research and Development).

OK here's the story ... 1) Last year guy got promoted, now works normal office hours, can't claim OT; no more allowances. Annual pay $40K-50K. 2) BEFORE promotion, same guy work shift, can claim allowances + OT; annual pay $60K-$70K. Stress after promotion doubled as more responsibility and expectation. Now this guy, already thinking of qutting and move to another job. But new job is purely commission based but income potential is double or more. Should he quit or stay??
