  1. As above, anyone gone through this upgrading? What are things to take note of, especially for toilet/bathroom upgrading? It's gonna be messy so need to cover the furniture, cabinet with plastic sheet they say. Where can I get the plastic sheet & the cost? Or other method for coverage? And any protection for the flooring? Workers will be going in/out of the house so was thinking of laying canvas or cardboard. Will also take this chance to redo bathroom fixtures & water heater which is already >10 yrs. Can the contractor assist? Maybe pay a token fee? Seems must tahan for 10 days before work finished.
  2. with the ramp up in bus services and number of buses, hopefully this can be part of the redundancy for people in case MRT breaks down... Billion-dollar Bus Service Enhancement Programme completed with 1,000th bus added to fleet http://www.todayonline.com/singapore/billion-dollar-bus-service-enhancement-programme-completed-1000th-bus-added-fleet "SINGAPORE — The government’s billion-dollar Bus Service Enhancement Programme (BSEP) that was rolled out in 2012 to tackle bus congestion and long waiting times has wrapped up, as the 1,000th government-funded bus and 80th new bus service planned under the initiative hit the road. The five-year effort translated to a ramping up of bus capacity for about 70 per cent of bus services – or 218 out of 309 basic services – either through the deployment of higher capacity buses or the operation of more frequent bus trips, the Land Transport Authority (LTA) said on Saturday (Dec 6)."

  8. i am asking for a father on this parenting issue... if you have kids in pre-school (or pri 1) and you are living with your parents. Your dad loves to watch some violent shows or movies in the evening, shows like NCIS and living dead, which has mixed of violent, dead bodies, gross images, sex, etc. which you think may would have bad influence or negative impact on the young kids. So the issue is do you think it is ok for kids of this age (8 and below) to watch these shows or you should stop your dad from watching shows when the kids are around? at least till the kids are in bed.

  11. Mercedes-Benz plans on introducing a new set of modifications for their line of cars. The MercedesSport program will first be available on the E-Class Cabrio, Coupe, Estate, and Saloon once the aero kit is unveiled in Geneva next week. Amongst the available options are new 18-inch light alloys in glossy black and silver. A new front apron, front spoiler, and matching side skirts are available as well as roof and decklid spoilers. The new rear apron looks like it includes a cosmetic diffuser. These items are "add ons," and not a replacement to the original body parts. Sports brakes with grey calipers and a stiffer, sportier suspension are also options. The new suspension includes short springs that drop the car by 15mm. A perforated leather, four-spoke steering wheel, paddleshifters, and stainless steel pedals and entry sills are all optional upgrades.

  13. Heard that some MOE primary schools teach using this method.. I understand that the children got no textbooks.. the teacher will devise their own method by getting them to experience for themselves the environment, reading storybooks, QnA discussion groups and worksheets. Some parents I spoke to are jittery about this method, and rather go for conventional textbook based. Anyone has any feedback about this, especially in SG context and suitability/practicality in preparation for PSLE?

  15. As gorgeous and capable as the new Jaguar XK, XF and XJ might be, some people in the market for a luxury sedan or GT still have a dated notion of Jaguars as service nightmares. Talk to folks from the Big Three and they'll tell you in no uncertain terms that fighting persistent jokes and decades-old impressions is, well, difficult. Those old impressions can linger in the mind of buyers well beyond their validity, crimping sales and blocking exposure to some very tasty products. One way to counteract that image problem is to design a better product, build it carefully and correctly, start gaining a reputation for reliability and wait for the hordes to push down your dealership doors. Another way to do it is to offer free maintenance to jump-start the process. Jaguar North America is using the latter approach, launching a free scheduled maintenance program for all of its 2011 models. According to Automotive News, the new five-year/50,000 mile plan will be called Jaguar Platinum Coverage, and will provide free scheduled maintenance, along with 24/7 roadside assistance. Jaguar has tried a similar approach in the past, but this new plan even goes so far as to comp oil changes, filters, brake pads, brake discs, brake fluids, and wiper blade inserts. The old program was last applied to 2006 models while Ford was still calling the shots. Jag's new owners, Tata Motors, are anxious to kick off the new XJ launch with a bang, hoping to show shoppers that this isn't your wealthy uncle's Jaguar. The program will be in effect when the XJ sedan goes on sale in May and will also apply to the 2011 XF sedan and XK coupe when they reach dealerships in June.
