  2. World premiere of Lamborghini’s Veneno Roadster on Italian aircraft carrier Lamborghini world premiered their super sports car, the Veneno Roadster, in Abu Dhabi on December 1. The carmaker chose a very unique way to debut the car, they did it by displaying the supercar on the ‘Nave Cavour’, an Italian naval aircraft carrier. The Lamborghini Veneno Roadster is based on the Veneno and both the cars borrow design elements from the Aventador. The Veneno was a hard-top car whereas the Roadster comes sans the roof with only a rollover bar. This Roadster weighs lesser than its elder sibling and the Italian carmaker has made use of carbon fibre to a large extent to make it lightweight. Its dry weight is as less as 1,490 kgs. The Veneno Roadster is powered by the same engine seen on the Aventador. However, the 6.5-litre V12 engine has been re-tuned to churn out 750bhp. The super car can sprint from 0-100kmph in just 2.9 seconds and has a top-speed of 355kmph. Just like the Veneno, of which only three units were made, Lamborghini will make only nine units of the Veneno Roadster. The fully road legal super sports car will be available for a price of 3.3 million Euros (Rs 27.87 crore) after its goes into production in 2014. Stephan Winkelmann, President and CEO of Lamborghini, said, “We are honoured that Lamborghini was chosen to represent the Italian car industry in the UAE, as a perfect example of iconic Italian super sports cars, and that we have the opportunity to show the Veneno Roadster for the first time in Abu Dhabi. Lamborghini has an extremely strong following in the region for its super sports cars, with the Middle East being one of our largest markets in the world.”

  5. Ferrari will officially unveil the Ferrari 599 Hybrid at the Geneva Motor Show in March. The decision was announced when Ferrari and Fiat chairman Luca di Montezemolo introduced the 2010 Ferrari F10 Formula 1 car earlier today. The two-seat 599, designed by Pininfarina, is expected to be a petrol/electric making use of lithium-ion batteries. A kinetic energy recovery system (KERS), developed by the company's F1 team, is expected to appear on the hybrid along with regenerative braking. With a KERS in place an electric power boost is also probable. Look for start/stop to also appear on the hybrid. In the end, the car is expected to reduce fuel consumption by nearly 35%. This would bring combined economy ratings to 14 mpg. At the event, di Montezemolo also mentioned that the automaker will continue to adapt F1 technology for its street vehicles. Ferrari will also continue to look for ways to improve their cars' efficiency as part of the board's plan to make the company more sustainable.

  7. The Audi TT is finally unveiled. All assumptions on how it looks are either confirmed or debunked! This is what the world will get its hands on come 2007. The new Audi TT! Please note that these are neither concept shots nor photoshopped images. These are official pictures. So this is the real thing. Now for my opinion. I think it's such a letdown, especially after all the hype and teasing. I don't know whether you guys can recall, but i remember being weak in the knees and falling in love the with Audi TT TEN years ago when it first came out. It was such a shocker, a trendsetter. Now, the 2007 Audi TT just didn't live up to its predecessor. Yes, it's nice of course. But don't you think Audi (or VW for that matter) just merely facelifted the car? I mean, they just didn't have the balls to create another trendsetter. It seems that they're too intoxicated by the success of the original TT formula that they're just ran outta fuel. The rear looks nice, but it's a facelift of the previous TT's rear. The front looks nice, but it just blends with the rest of the audi range (taking cues from the nuvolari concept). Yes the new Audi TT looks nice, but it just doesnt excite me. I think many of you feel the same as i do. What a letdown. Oh yea, somehow the headlamps remind me of the new ford focus'. Anyone think so too? Sigh. Sigh. Sigh. Can't imagine they took ten years and came up with something so conservative. My wife calls it a "cowardly attempt at remaking a legend". She still loves the original TT.
  8. Link: http://www.testdriven.co.uk/news.cfm/daiha..._world_premiere A striking new Daihatsu sport utility makes its world debut at 'The 61st Frankfurt Motor Show', combining city car manoeuvrability with all-weather agility and ample five-person interior space. The D-Compact 4x4 is a convincing-looking concept car featuring a roomy and practical four-door body that avoids the bulk, high fuel consumption and negative image of some off-roaders. It will be unveiled at 12.45 pm on Tuesday, 13 September in Hall 6, Stand C11. Considerably wider than the current production Terios 1.3 sport utility, the D-Compact 4x4 features a new high-torque 105 PS 1.5 litre DOHC 16-valve petrol engine derived from that fitted to the new Sirion. Its full-time four-wheel drive system includes a mechanical centre differential lock and Vehicle Stability Control. The body includes state-of-the-art technologies safeguarding both occupants and pedestrians. Following Daihatsu's own tests, the D-Compact matched a Euro NCAP three-star rating. Compared to the Terios, the D-Compact 4x4 measures 4,075 mm long (3,845 mm) with a width of 1,745 mm (1,555 mm) and height of 1,760 mm (1,695 mm), while its wheelbase is 2,580 mm (2,420 mm). Further illustrating its squat and stable stance, the front and rear tracks are 1,445 mm and 1,480 mm respectively compared to the Terios Tracker's 1,315 mm and 1,310 mm.
