(Photo: Facebook/Airzone) 22 Dec 2017 07:59PM(Updated: 22 Dec 2017 09:10PM) Share this content Bookmark SINGAPORE: Fancy clambering and dangling three to six storeys up in the middle of a shopping mall? Or does the thought make you dizzy? An upcoming elevated playground suspended by net structures at City Square Mall will be able to hold 60 people at a time, its operator Ultimate Entertainments Group told Channel NewsAsia on Friday (Dec 22). The attraction, spread across six "levels", will feature a suspended ball pit with more than 10,000 balls, a slide, a maze which climbers can crawl through, paths, slopes, as well as a games and activity zone, which can be used for fitness and trampoline classes. The attraction will be able to hold up to 20 people per level, and a total of 60 people at a time, it said. Ultimate Entertainments Group said the Airzone project at City Square Mall is the "world's first" net playground built in a shopping centre atrium. The playground, which is set to open in the first quarter of 2018, consists of safety nets and high wire designed for trapeze and circus acts, said Ultimate Entertainments Group. Airzone said it utilises "untapped spaces" in between floors of City Square Mall. (Photo: Facebook/Airzone) Responding to media queries from Channel NewsAsia about how safe the structure is, Ultimate Entertainments Group explained that the net structures "are actually safety features themselves". The anchors holding the playground in place were designed to hold the weight of a car, the operator added. Ticketing details on the Airzone website states that participants are required to be under 120kg. Ultimate Entertainments Group said it is working with Xtrem Adventures Group, which has designed and installed net parks in various countries like USA, China, India and Germany. Airzone said the nets can hold up to 60 people at any one time or 20 people per level. (Photo: Facebook/Airzone) "There are over a hundred net-based playgrounds or adventure courses throughout the world with most of them located in France or Europe," Ultimate Entertainments Group said, adding that most are in outdoor settings. The operator said the attraction would "excite and maximise untapped spaces in between floors of City Square Mall". "This new concept has the potential to disrupt existing shopping mall and attractions business models by bringing fun activities directly to shoppers, or conversely, driving leisure seeking tourist directly to shopping malls," Ultimate Entertainments Group said. Airzone said it utilises "untapped spaces" in between floors of City Square Mall. 2. Marine Cove reopens end-June: 5 things about the recreational enclave at East Coast Park The McDonald's outlet at Marine Cove features a new look: loft-like space, sleek metallic counter, yellow flooring and gigantic food decals. Photo: The Straits Times SINGAPORE - Marine Cove at East Coast Park reopens from this week, after being in development for two years. The National Parks Board (NParks) promises facilities that are family-friendly, great views of the sea and a 3,500 sqm playground with a marine theme. Here's more about the revamped park recreation area. 1. MEGA PLAY AREA FOR THE KIDS The highlight of the playground is a 8m tower modelled after a lighthouse. It comes with many play elements that include three slides, a rope bridge and climbing net courses. There are also inclusive play equipment to encourage children of different abilities to play together. They are designed to let children spin, rock and swing to improve muscle control. 2. MACS IS BACK Those hankering for the return of a 30-year-old icon can look forward to gourmet food options alongside the usual fast-food fare when McDonald's reopens on July 2. The beach-style 8,439 sq ft outlet will act as a test kitchen to incubate new products, and feature a salad bar, a dessert bar and a trio of premium burgers like the Spicy Chicken with Apple Slaw. 3. MORE DIVERSE FOOD OPTIONS While the children play, parents can chill at the new F&B outlets opening progressively from Tuesday (June 28). Family restaurant Babalicious will serve Peranakan dishes together with Hainanese chicken rice, while visitors can tuck into kopi and steamed kaya butter bread at Hill Street Coffee Shop. There is also halal-certified My Briyani House and a Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf outlet. More details on their opening promotions here. 4. NO MORE PARKING WOES? Located at East Coast Park Area C, Marine Cove is accessible via East Coast Park Service Road. Its two carparks have been reconfigured to increase the number of parking lots. Carparks C2 and C3 will have a total of around 430 car parking lots - up from about 300 previously. 5. REMEMBER MARINE COVE'S PREVIOUS INCARNATION? Singaporeans who grew up in the 1980s will remember Marine Cove's former life as the East Coast Recreation Centre. It was developed by Mr George Wuu in 1980 and had replicas of nostalgic landmarks like the old Lido Theatre and Odeon cinemas. Marine Cove was then sold to Rock Productions, the business arm of New Creation Church which also manages The Rock Auditorium and The Star Vista, a shopping mall in Buona Vista. It bought the recreation and restaurant cluster from George Wuu in 2002 for about $10 million and renamed it Marine Cove. The land, managed by the Singapore Land Authority, was handed back to NParks in 2011 and the area closed in 2012 for redevelopment. http://news.asiaone.com/news/lifestyle/marine-cove-reopens-end-june-5-things-about-recreational-enclave-east-coast-park
  3. Wanbao reader snapped a photo of this 5 year boy who climbed onto a car and jumped up and down on the car's bonnet and roof. After that he climbed onto the rear of the lorry and played with the tools inside. Boy's parents are not around. The wanbao reader shouted at him to get down but he refused. Worried about the boy's safety, she alerted the police. So naughty this boy! http://news.omy.sg/News/Local-News/story20160314-413299

Looking forward to this. So soon in December? http://www.todayonline.com/lifestyle/style/spores-largest-outdoor-mall-playground-open Unleash your kids in the 11,000 sq ft Westgate Wonderland at Jurong East SINGAPORE — Looking for a new place to dump your children while you get a much needed dose of retail therapy? Come Christmas, an 11,000-square foot outdoor playground will open its doors to young shoppers (and their parents) at Westgate, an integrated retail and office development in the heart of Jurong Lake District. Westgate Wonderland claims to be Singapore’s largest thematic outdoor playground in a mall, and will be open to the public for free. The playground will have dry and wet areas, play zones catering to children of different ages, and will feature a larger-than-life garden with gigantic insects, musical flowers, a 10-metre tall tree house and an enormous watering can. You know, cos plants need water, right? “We envisioned Westgate as a mall that goes ‘beyond shopping’ — a gathering place for the community and a place where families come to enjoy themselves and spend the day,” said Ms Wee Su Lin, General Manager of Westgate. “We thus anchor the mall’s family and lifestyle mall positioning with a dedicated family zone on Level 4, where the centerpiece will be Westgate Wonderland. Apart from its large area and customised play exhibits that weave a storyline, the playground stands out with its unique night-time play experience accentuated by special lighting and sound effects.” In addition to Westgate Wonderland, the mall will also have a Kids Club, a supervised play area for children aged four to 12, with programmed activities including obstacle races and treasure hunts. Jjointly developed by CapitaMalls Asia, CapitaMall Trust and CapitaLand, Westgate is slated to open before this Christmas.
