All bros who drive Picanto, I've been driving Picanto coming to 2 years. So far experienced one issue with the fuel pump. The fuel pump broke down. Fortunately, this failure is covered by warranty. However, this failure has shaken my confidence in the reliability of my car. Would like to find out from the rest of you on your experiences with your Picanto. Pls kindly share about any reliability issue with the car. Tks in advance.

Bought a 2nd hand car planning for short term usage. Asked my regular workshop to open up to check the condition of Timing belt. He did it and say Timing belt looks ok as the numbering printing is still intact and clearly shown and edge of timing belt show no sign of wear and tear. Was worrying as i will be driving to genting with family next month. Technician also ask me crank slowly and all look fine. Does that sounded good enough to last for trips to genting and run for another 1 year? Thanks for your value view.

Dear mcf members, I cannot start a new thread, so need to appeal for help using this old thread. I met a car accident along Punggol Dr, in front of Blk615A on 7th Aug, 10:15pm. I was driving an orange Kia picanto and got hit on my right side by a cement mixer truck. If you happen to have video recording for the whole accident, I plead your help to send the video to me. Please contact me at 8322 4482. Thank you very much, everybody! P/S Moderators, I appreciate if you can help me start a new thread for my case. thank you!

Peter Schreyer becomes the first non-Korean president of Kia Motors
SYF77 posted a blog entry in MyAutoBlog
Kia's Chief Design Officer, Peter Schreyer, has been promoted to president from his current executive vice president position. This makes the German the first non-Korean president in the Korean automaker. In addition to Schreyer, there are two other presidents in the company. Schreyer jumped ship from Volkswagen AG to Kia in 2006 when Kia decided to focus on the European market, identifying design as its core growth engine. With Schreyer on board, Kia introduced a new corporate grille known as the 'Tiger Nose' to create a recognisable 'face' for the brand. The first Kia vehicle to bear Schreyer's styling direction is the first generation Kia Forte. Since then, the new corporate grille has been featured from the humble Picanto to the top-of-the-range Quoris luxury saloon. The second generation Forte carries the 'Tiger nose' as well but in a more aggressive form. The 'Tiger nose' grille is now as recognisable to a Kia as the 'Double Kidney' grille is to a BMW. "The promotion shows Kia's key focus areas shifting from production and cost efficiency, which were traditionally considered more important, to design and research and development," said Shin Chung Kwan, an analyst at KB Investment & Securities Co. in Seoul. The second generation Kia Forte-

Was shocked to see this when going up the ramp at AMK central MSCP . That lady slams the door with both hands at full force as you can see how hard her body sways. I went to check on the picanto after I parked my car, the door was dented and I also noticed that the bonnet was splashed with coffee! Dunno what angered her, but wat she did was really uncalled . Next time see this BMW must siam! I took tis pic after lunch, another car has parked, unable to capture the dent and stains clearly but can see the cup and the stains on the wall.

i have a picanto which seems to run on a very low fc, hope to get some advise on what i can do. Picanto auto 2009 Average fc 10.5km/l Usual load 2 person 60% highway, 40% urban No jam usual travel Rev from stop not above 2.5 Seldom rev past 3 2 amps with 12 inch woffer ice installed Installed a diy power stabaliser from a forumer here 15inch rim with normal tyres Some led installed Car spare tire already removed and weight in car is reduced to minimal Using ron95 esso Car have bad low end but once hit 3rd gear drivbility increased by a lot. On sj-cai with heat shield from whitesnail Went to c&c about the poor fc they say oversized rims Did a flywheel check, engine compression, sparks plug check and find it to be perfect. Using knn blue ice air filter Using very compatible sparks plug for the car Technician say dunno what else can cause such poor fc. Car quite silent with little vibration when engine is on. Previous owner did-- fuel line cut (already replaced with good line) Vaccum line cut (already replaced with good line) Decat (already replaced with original cat) Operated exhaust (already replaced with stock exos) Can anyone help by telling me what else can i do? I envy those normal pica that can easily hit 350-400km when mine have not even hit past 275 before when my 09 engine is suppose to be newer that those 08 ones.

Hey I wonder which car will win? stock condition I mean, without all the addons. I've test driven both, I must say they are both perky. But kelisa feels very 1980s interior wise, and to make it better, must throw more money at it, and it feels flimsy, but by measurement it is a lighter car. Lets have a race!

Kia has released the engine details of the all new Picanto, which will go one sales later this year. While detailed specifications won't be revealed until the Geneva Motor Show, the Picanto will be offered with four efficient powerplants. The smaller 1.0-liter three-cylinder engine will be made available in petrol, flex fuel and bi-fuel guises. A larger 1.2-liter four-cylinder petrol engine is also available. Outputs will range from 69 hp to 84 hp, while torque numbers vary from 94 to 121 Nm. More specifically, the 1.0-liter bi-fuel engine produces 81 hp and 94 Nm of torque. All engines will be mated to a five-speed manual or an optional four-speed automatic. This little Kia is rather green as well, with CO2 emissions that range from 95 to 105 g/km. With the optional engine start/stop system, these figures go down to 90 - 100 g/km.

Another new offering from Kia.. The old Picanto which looked like one of the worst superminis ever to have driven on the face of the Earth looks THIS good! Better still, theres going to be a 3 door option which will stick well with all its sporting pretensions. No matter what people say about the brand, this is a great looking supermini. It will make its debut at the Geneva Motor Show in March alongside the Rio which will also have a new look. This is no concept as it is shown here in its full production glory. Kia says that this new Picanto is "bolder, more mature and self confident" and I totally agree with that statement. It all started with the Cerato Forte and that grille which has sown its seed into the other range of models from Kia like the Sorento. And its just not the grille, it looks like the designers at Kia have finally got their act together and destroyed the pantry in the office and got down to work on making good looking cars. In the past, they looked flimsy, plain and 'unappetizing' but this has the recipe for a winning supermini. Under the hood lies a perky 1.0 litre or a 1.2 litre engine and Kia claims that they boast class leading CO2 emission standards. With the COE prices soaring at its current state, I'm pretty sure that this car will be rather popular over here due to its affordability and increasing quality standard.
