It picked eight sentences from the resignation announcements of the four men and asked readers who said what. It should have been a doddle, given how distinctive the voices of the four usually are: a regular bloke; a standard-issue Etonian; an erudite clown Etonian; and a cheeky son of a bookie. Their resignations were also quite different - one was resigning after six years running the country, another after six weeks presenting a TV show about cars. And two resigned having failed; two having succeeded. Yet when it came to quitting they all said the same things. Even though I had read or listened agog to all their statements at the time, I failed hopelessly at the game. I didn't even pick Mr Farage as the speaker of the above words, and overall scored a pathetic three out of eight. The cliches of resignation are now so ubiquitous that Roy Hodgson, who had only five minutes in a tunnel in France to write his resignation statement, unthinkingly plumped for all of them. The first is always to use travel metaphors. "It's been a fantastic journey," he said of his ignominious ride. The second is never admit to having cocked anything up and never to say sorry. Instead, you must always pat yourself on the back. "I'm actually proud of the work my coaching staff and I have achieved," said the failed England football manager. Next, you thank whoever you can think of and, having done that, pledge undying allegiance to whatever it is you've worked for. Even Mr Evans said he would do all he could "to help the cause", which seemed a little far-fetched for Top Gear. Finally, you never say the word "resign", let alone "quit". Even "step down" has become a little too close to the truth. Instead, you refer to what you are doing as "stepping aside" - no matter how precipitous the decline in front of you appears. I've been wondering whether there is a better, more honest way in which to quit. As a first step I've googled "best resignation letter" and almost the first thing that came up was a cake. In 2013, a man announced his departure to the Stansted airport border force in icing. This is charming; the trouble with this is it works only if, like the man in question, you are quitting to pursue a future in novelty cakes. A resignation should offer a rare chance to say something true. Everyone is listening. And because you are no longer so beholden to the person who has been paying you/watched you/voted for you, you can say what you like. Every now and again, someone decides to do just that. There was the "muppets" letter from Mr Greg Smith in The New York Times as he left Goldman Sachs. There was the "we are only in it for the money" letter in the Financial Times by fund manager Andrew Lahde. Both were savage, both were gifts to journalists, and both said some things that were true - that the culture at Goldman isn't great and that the sharp end of capitalism isn't great either. Even so, both left a bad taste in the mouth, making their authors seem less brave than bad mannered. Superficially less rude was the long farewell letter sent by Mr Patrick Pichette of Google last year, who quit his post as chief financial officer for "a perfectly fine mid-life crisis full of bliss and beauty". Yet this was not only emotionally incontinent, but also insulting to those who didn't have a US$5.2 million (S$7 million) salary to splurge on an endless family holiday around the world. A resignation statement is not a time for truth; it is a time for politeness and for causing minimum upset - which may mean some version of the standard cliches may be best after all. The two choices that remain are: With or without emotion? And short or long? In general, I'm in favour of the lip remaining as stiff as possible at work. Being professional means comporting oneself with dignity. And that means, above all, not blubbing when anything goes wrong. However, Mr Cameron has proved that a minor quaver in the voice when you leave can be a good thing. It makes people - even those who are spitting blood over what you've done - somewhat better disposed towards you, if only for a minute or two. On long versus short, there can be no debate. A resignation statement can't be too short, which means Twitter is the perfect place to do it. Mr Evans tweeted: "Stepping down from Top Gear. Gave it my best shot but sometimes that's not enough. The team are beyond brilliant, I wish them all the best." It was OK, but can be improved on. My favourite Twitter resignation comes from Mr Jimi Matthews, who left as acting head of a South African broadcaster last month. It simply said: "I have quit the SABC."

Any age Prefers Toyota, Honda, Mazda, Nissan and newer Kia vehicles but open to trying other brands Car type: SUV, or sporty-looking MPV, or better-still 7-seater SUV At least 2L for NA engines, no preference for Turbo; automatic transmission Rear air con Sunroof or Moonroof or Panoramic Roof Automatic headlights and/or wipers Keyless entry and/or start Spacious 2nd row and huge boot Automatic sliding doors (least important) Appreciate your inputs and sharing, best is if you have first-hand experience! Hi bros/sis, I have been using meguiars ultimate quick wax for a year and liked it's fast touch and go spray as it consumes little time. But recently, I got the chance to try out 3M perfect it paste wax and saw quite a difference. Though more time consuming, it produces a deeper wet gloss look compared to meguiars which brings out bright colours. My vehicle is dark colour so it seems that 3M paste presents the car better. However I do note that the meguiars product I used was spray and wipe so in my assumption it would not be fair. Thus a few question I have in mind is that would 3M perfect It liquid wax produce the same result as 3M paste wax? I still like meguiars quick detailer but am not sure if I can use it with 3M paste wax given the chemicals for both products. Cause if so, I may end up using meguiars quick detailer as a cleaning spray and 3M wax to wax the car. Other findings; Another thing to note though is that 3M paste wax had lesser dust stuck to the surface compared to meguiars which I notice attracts a consistent layer of dust. But in terms of touch, 3M paste would leave smudges due to paste wax. I am still waiting for rainy weathers to see if it has as much rain spots as meguiars cause the day it was applied, there was light rain and it hardly left any rain spots on the car. So I hope anyone who have experience in using the above mentioned products can share your experiences with me. Thanks.

Tonight traveling along River Valley Rd towards Alexandra Rd direction, taxi in front slowed down to turn right to a condo. Me and taxi were both on extreme right lane. Suddenly a black Lexus GS 450h came from behind me onto my right...no prizes for guessing which lane it was on...overtook me and the taxi before the taxi could turn right! When I reach the Scotts Rd junction, the GS was in front of me, all the stunts to gain one car ahead. light turns green, we both turn right. On coming car already passed it's line, GS 450h just turned right without any care in the world. I was thinking then, such a perfect Lexus...at least to me...but in the hands of idiots, it becomes a potential killing machine. Even if it is wife in labour in Mt E doesn't warrant driving like that.

If you've been driving a big car (> 1600CC), now is the perfect time to 'downgrade'. Downgrade to, say, Golf/Scirocco 1.4, RX-8 and other performance cars with small but powerful engine. The bigger difference between the COE prices for the big and small cars should mean that you 'save' a couple of thousand, right?

Did a perfect lap at kartright speedway using a rental kart.....no skidding no nothing....nailed the handling of the kart.....and i realised how to even go faster now..... however one thing bad happened....my handphone dropped and a kart went over it....also alot of strength and stamina is needed.....to counter g forces...... had some fun touching wheels and over taking..... some pics of race karts taken....and man some of those guys r rich driving ferrari and skyline gtr also saw yuey tan...i think he was the one who crashed out n left.... karting is fun...but it cost money....ask a owner cost at least 10k man and next time must really wear jeans and shoes....if not handphone drop here are some pics

Now i know that perfection does not exist even though we all seek for it. So with the current job market being so bleak and competitive, how do you create the perfect resume? I've read a number of books and browsed hundreds of websites on how to create a "sell-able" resume but somehow only one or two might gain a prospecting employer's interest. As a marketing and management student i've learnt that you need not be a really fantastic scholar. Its all about selling yourself. I'm still trying to secure a marketing job which is still fruitless after these few months. So how do you sell yourself in your resume or cover letter? Is there an agency that can proof-read your resumes and cover letters to tailor it to the industry you're aiming at? I'm already bored to death with trying to edit my resumes so i hope to hear from you guys how you all do it. After all, the first step to getting a job is to decide on that 'perfect' resume.

Thought she never really like cycling, this turned out to be the perfect Christmast present. She will probably go cycling more now. Anyone caught this show on Channel U 10-11pm (mon-fri)? Personally find it quite a nice show..well, unlike most of mediacorpse dramas, this one was 'sub-contracted' out..not produced and filmed by mediacorp themselves even though the cast is from mediacorpse..certainly much better than dramas like beachball babes and etc..
