  1. Was casually flipping the papers until I reached the forum page this morning. Normally I would just give the titles a cursory glance to see if there are any worth reading & today one of them seemed to warrant some attention as the title sugggested concerns on kindergarten food, which my 3-year old relies on daily in his childcare. Nearly choked on my food when the portion highlighted in blue popped up: http://www.straitstimes.com/STForum/Online...ory_630377.html Kindergarten food concern I AM a parent of a child studying at Radin Mas PAP Community Foundation kindergarten. I thought schools in Singapore are trying to promote healthy eating, but my child's school serves mostly biscuits during snack time. And each child is given about six pieces each time. Given the duration of four hours in school, how filling can the six biscuits be? If it is not biscuits, it would be a hotdog bun. Occasionally, they are given cake. A few parents checked with the teachers and the answer they were given was that the general election (GE) was coming. The room with a pantry and a stove has been locked up for some time because of the GE, so they have not been able to cook macaroni, which is what the pupils got to eat at least once a week before. I hope the relevant authorities will look into the healthy eating habits of pupils. Cecilia Teo (Ms) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Was most certainly sure someone of authority would stoutly deny the above claims later. Just interesting to know that the GE fever seems to be spreading but our country's top honcho is still keeping mum. Even kindergartens also not spared & getting involved in the frenzy....
