PUB: Boiled tap water in S'pore smelling like pandan is safe to drink Some residents in Singapore are smelling the sweet scent of pandan coming from their boiled tap water, raising the prospect that people here might be hallucinating. However, National water agency PUB told The Straits Times on July 22 that the cause of the unusual scent is an organic compound in the water and that the water is safe for consumption. PUB said it has received feedback on the faint pandan smell in boiled tap water from residents residing in Pasir Ris, Yishun and Tampines. PUB said it is looking into the matter, and that preliminary investigations have been carried out. "(The compound) may be detected by customers with a keen sense of smell or palate, but is otherwise without any adverse health effects in trace amounts," a PUB spokesman told ST. "The water supply remains safe to consume." Laboratory tests of water samples found trace levels of less than 10 parts per billion of tetrahydrofuran (THF), a type of organic compound, in the water. The water was taken from affected homes and water mains. Malaysia too Singaporeans are not alone though. Malaysian media also reported on July 22 that residents in Johor Baru having noticed a weird scent in their tap water. PUB said its investigations so far have shown that the smell appears to be linked to water imported from Malaysia, which is derived from Johor River. PUB said the "affected water" has been "isolated" and it is working with the Malaysian authorities. Those in Singapore can request for water bags by calling the PUB hotline on 1800-225-5782.

Just traveling on the MRT from Jurong East to Clementi and looking out the window when crossing Sungei Ulu Pandan and I'm sure I saw a crocodile swimming in the water. It must have been 1.2m to 1.5m long. Was I seeing things or not???

The gym I use is undergoing renovation and the other 4 nearby gyms have stupid short term pricing so I've been just doing an hour or so walk daily to keep a bit fit. Anyway I walked around Pandan Reservoir today, that's an hour walk, plus the 30 minutes to get there and the 30 minutes back. Nice walk, there are quite a few nice walks around Clementi. But around the reservoir I saw what must have been a 3 meter long Monitor Lizard. In fact it was sooo big I thought it might be a Komodo Dragon. Before I could get my camera out of my back pack the Monitor slid off the rocks into the reservoir. It made an awful lot of splash. Saw a smaller Monitor later on maybe one meter long. I'll have the camera ready in future but don't expect to see it again.

Today for whatever reasons, I removed my Green Serena Air Freshner from my car and put in 90 cents worth of pandan leaves and I can assure you, my car smells heavenly..macham like having pandan cake in the interior reminds me of the old days when I used to travel in Taxis before I got my ride...ahhh...nostalgia

Borneo Motors Singapore plans to redevelop its Pandan Crescent property into an eight-storey complex housing various motor businesses. Borneo Motors Singapore (BMS) has revealed plans to redevelop its Pandan Crescent property into an eight-storey complex. The new project will be used to house its various motor vehicle businesses. Experts in the field estimated the project to cost around $40 million. BMS is the distributor for automotive brands such as Toyota, Lexus, Suzuki and Hino. It is part of Inchcape Group of the United Kingdom and has its flagship complex located at 33 Leng Kee Road - where it houses Toyota and Lexus showrooms. The Pandan Crescent property is currently used to house the showroom for Suzuki cars, as well as the company's bodywork and paintshop facilities. The Business Times reported that the new project will start by this mid-year. Meanwhile, retail business for Suzuki will be shifted to a ground floor unit at Ubi Megamart from May.

Hi all, will be doing the above servicing next week after getting my 2nd hand Swift. It's out of warranty though and i would prefer to send it to AD as i don't have a trusted workshop. Anyone has any experiences to share when you sent your car there for servicing? Like did they a good job and check every detail thoroughly? I'll be taking Menu C i think, $378 for Synthetic Oil. Are they persuasive in the sense that they will push you to change the parts which are still in good/okay condition? I might probably get duped if that's the case as i do not really have much mechanical knowledge. Also i discover the audio CD player can't eject the disc i inserted in. Can i get this repaired there as well? How much do u guys estimate this cost to be? Pls help. Thanks
