Rather annoying feature although my understanding is that it is to minimise automated forum bots on here. As it is, am not keen to flood the forum with meaningless posts elsewhere just for the sake of enabling thread creation. So dear admins - do forgive the following "spam" posts and take it as feedback on a limitation of this policy. Thanks! To prevent spammers from rampaging throughout the forum, we have implemented the rule that Users with less than 10 posts will be unable to start new topics. These users will only be able to reply to others. We understand that this could pose frustration to new members who may have a legitimate need to post new topics. So if you have such a need, post your discussion in this thread. If we deem justified, we will create a new thread for you. Feel free to also ask any question within this thread. Hi all new user here looking for advice. Bought a 3 year old VW on consignment, confirmed via whatsapp (and verbal) that remaining 2 year warranty still valid. But when I sent to Volkswagen for servicing, was told they just discovered ECU tuned so warranty is now void. Questions: 1) any way to pinpoint when the ECU tuning was done (Volkswagen say they cannot - this is to make it clear the issue existed at the point I purchased the car) 2) any way to pinpoint what was done (in case Volkswagen are over-reacting e.g. if ECU records were simply wiped but no actual tuning done) 3) what recourses can I take against the previous owner / consignment agent (I know lemon law doesn't apply here) Thanks bros for your inputs. Mod would appreciate if you can create a thread if possible. TYVM

Sometimes we encounter mind-boggling sights on the road that leave us scratching our heads. What happened and how did it get there? Recently we spotted yet another such scene circulating on one of our favourite pages: The page had captioned it "You can't park there, Sir." You can watch the video here: 298360005_784581842681174_4396976411540370995_n.mp4 Huh? What the! How can? Immediately, we thought that the car had deliberately parked itself there in the middle of the road. Mystified, we did some sleuthing and re-watched the video, as well as digging through the comment section. Aha! Actually, contrary to the caption, the car was not been parked on the road as an act of obstinate rule-flouting, but had most possibly gotten into an unfortunate collision with a heavy vehicle ahead. We have edited the picture for the readers' better viewing clarity. The said heavy vehicle was spotted ahead, parked on the road shoulder: Furore descends. Many netizens protested at the arguably misleading caption of the page, pointing out the BMW's damages and the presence of the heavy vehicle at the road shoulder. Two commentators were engaged in discussion, regarding the actualities of the sight. Some had already assumed it as their immediate and final stance, that 'Yes, it was definitely an accident!' There was also an overwhelming barrage of netizens pointing out the seemingly obvious: Yet another wave, some expressing exasperation with the caption's assumption: Oh dear... Alright guys, I think we can also see for ourselves. Further explanations Other than the netizens who were not so pleased with the choice of words, there were those who jumped in to account for the context of the caption: As well as this "Oh, I see!" moment: Well, to be very fair, not everyone watches TikTok so not everyone will get the reference, so captions like these can lead to slight misunderstandings. Although, it is also not very ideal to use such a flippant caption when someone was just involved in an accident, with damages incurred and repair fees to pay for. Discretion is important! When reading and viewing content on the internet, its always good to do some further research and scrutiny so that we get the full picture. Just as well, it wouldn't hurt to brush up on our pop culture references. ========= Be the first to get the latest road/ COE news and get first dibs on exclusive promos and giveaways in our Telegram SGCM Community. Dear all, Been through quite a few wedding. When the bros here call me up for my address and want to mail me the invitation card, I would tell them don't need, just SMS me the date, venue and time will do. As I got enough mails to go thru already .... and I don't have the card with me always. Unlike SMS .... it's in my phone and I can always see it. Poll Question: So just would like to find out how many of you here don't mind just having SMS as Invitation for wedding? Or do you expect a proper Invitation card to be mailed to you that kind. Please cast your votes ....

Urgent Advice Needed - Trouble with Workshop for Accident Claims Good evening all, Posting here as there's very limited information on motorbikes.. I am both a driver and a rider. I got into an accident this year where a car hit me when he was exiting a carpark when I was riding. I’ve received a letter from TP stating that the driver has committed an offence of Careless driving causing hurt and action has been taken by the TP against the driver. I’ve engaged a law firm to initiate the claims. My understanding is that on usual basis if you choose to go with your law firm’s workshop, you’ll not need to pay anything upfront for the repair of the bike as the law firm will settle everything for you. As for myself, I’ve chosen to go to my trusted regular workshop to conduct the repairs and the law firm previously told me that in this case I’ll have to pay the upfront repair costs and I was fine with it, as I trust my workshop. I was estimating the bill to be in the range of $2 to $3K maximum. For whole bike respray, alignment and some accessories (brake levers, handle bar grips etc). Initially when I send the bike in for repairs, I have asked several times regarding the estimated repair costs that I will have to pay but did not get an answer. 4 months down the road, the repair is finally done after chasing the workshop numerous times and the bill came up to around $7K. I am totally shocked as I did not expect the bill to be this high. My repairs were mainly respray, alignment and some of the accessories (brake levers, handle bar grips). Nothing was done to the engine as it wasn’t affected. The workshop did not inform me about the the estimated costs before commencing on the work, although I’ve chased them a few times. If they had told me the costs of $7.1K before starting the work, I will have never given permission for them to go ahead as I am not able to fork out upfront. And honestly, for the few work that is done, $7.1K is extraordinary high. The workshop claims that this is the amount that is given by the independent surveyor, whom was contacted by the workshop. Right now, the workshop wants me to pay for the $7.1K before they can release the bike, the repair invoice and the independent surveyor’s report to me. My law firm requires the repair invoice and the independent surveyor’s report before they can raise the claims against the third party insurer. On a check with my law firm, they said that it is highly unlikely that I will be able to claim this $7.1K back in full, as the costs are way too high and that the third party surveyor may give a much lower repair cost. So if that happens, the liability of 80% may work out to be around $3K to $3.5K. Law firm also recommended me to pay the full sum as previously I chose this workshop and there’s nothing much that they can do. Will you guys be able to advise on what I should do? I am not able to come out with a bill of $7.1K. I need the invoice and surveyor’s report for my law firm to initiate the claims as I have injury and medical claims as well. However, without paying the repair costs of $7.1K, the whole case may come to a stop and I’ll not get my compensation for medical and loss of income due to the accident. Please kindly give me some advices! Extremely helpless on this case. Thank you very much!
