Today, I learnt that it is imperative we check the battery that is sold to us when we have the battery of our precious watches replaced. Out of convenience, Wifey had the battery for her Omega watch changed less than six months ago at White Sands SC, which cost her $25. Over the weekend, the watch died on her. Our first thought was that an inferior battery was used. But our main worry was that the malfunction could be due to faulty mechanism. To allay our worries, we brought it to a watch shop in Loyang Point. I trust the proprietor because my Tag Heuer's battery was replaced by him more than a year ago and the watch is still working fine. It was at the shop I learnt something disturbing. The guy removed the battery and showed me that it had leaked, staining part of the internal component. He said he would try his best to remove the leakage from the watch, hoping that the acid had not corroded the mechanism. Much to our relief, he was able to get the watch working again with a new battery. Phew! It seemed that the watch shop at White Sands is not the only unethical shop. I learnt from him that some watch shops in Tampines Central charge customers for a premium battery when the actual battery is of Japan origin, which typically cost only $5. Some are even more unscrupulous, to the extent of using those made in China. I wonder how prevalent is this practice in Singapore. So, it pays to be cynical sometimes. Where our watches are concerned, we should inspect the battery before it is inserted into our beloved watches.

really that bad meh? the monthly amount spent is as good as somebody pay for a year! just heard on radio this morning getting 'tuitor' to do homework on behlaf is common, even for assignment, uni final year project, etc. wonder what Gearoil has to say on this? i remember when i did my master, i was so busy that i could meet the deadline, i told my lectuerer that i can't make it and ask him to fail me, lucky the final assignment only contribute 20% which i still pass the subject. Never in my mind to engage such 'services' though i knew their existence long ago. Paper qualification is so easy to come back and nothing is real on the surface nowadays.

Reuters - Thursday, March 25SendIM StoryPrint.SINGAPORE, March 24 - The New York Times Co <NYT.N> apologised to Singapore Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong and former prime minister Lee Kuan Yew on Wednesday and paid S$160,000 in damages for an article about Asian political dynasties. An apology in the opinion section of the New York Times' website said that any inference that Lee Hsien Loong "did not achieve his position through merit", was unintended. The article, entitled "All in the Family", was published on Feb. 15 in the International Herald Tribune , the global edition of The New York Times. Lee Hsien Loong is the son of independent Singapore's first leader, Lee Kuan Yew. The New York Times also apologised to Goh Chok Tong, who succeeded the older Lee as prime minister. Davinder Singh, the lawyer acting for the leaders, told Reuters that the IHT's publisher, editor of global editions, and the article's author, Philip Bowring, also agreed to pay damages of S$60,000 to Lee Hsien Loong, and S$50,000 each to Goh Chok Tong and Lee Kuan Yew, as well as pay their legal costs. Singh said the article was "libellous" and the Singapore leaders had demanded an apology, damages and costs. He said it was in breach of an undertaking made by both the publisher of the IHT and Bowring in 1994 that they would not make further similar defamatory allegations to those made in an article by Bowring in the IHT in that year called "The Claims about Asian Values Don't Usually Bear Scrutiny", for which the IHT and Bowring also paid damages and costs to the three leaders. A spokesman for The New York Times Co declined to comment beyond the apology, while Bowring did not respond to a Reuters query for comment. Singapore's leaders have in the past sued and won damages, or out-of-court settlements, from opposition politicians and foreign media including the International Herald Tribune, Wall Street Journal, Bloomberg and The Economist. Singapore, considered to have the lowest political risk among Asian nations by many risk consultancies, is a hub for manufacturers, banks and expatriates, who value its stability. Was driving out from my squatter when a taxi was blocking e drive way while letting off passenger. As there was enuh space, i inch passed e taxi as i don like wasting time esp when its a taxi. Though the accident was reported promptly by yours truly, on the other hand, however, the lady driver's insurer, American Home Assurance Co, has difficulty tracking her till this day. Obviously, the lady driver has feigned ignorance. And, to my disgust, if the guilty party does not report the crash, and with no witnesses present at the site, as the victim, I have to forfeit my NCD and legal costs. Earlier this year, a motorcycle bank into my rear in the highway. it was just a minor accident, he fell and cut his elbows, my rear bumper dropped and the side of my car got scratched. his motorcycle has light scratches. the traffic police was involved but did not give any of us any summons, just a stern warning for negligence ( i still wonder why until today since he hit me from behind on a busy morning traffic highway and i was driving at the most 20km/h). i helped him pick up his bike, push it to the side of the road, give him tissues to clean his wound, call for ambulance and wait with him till the TP and ambulance arrive. my insurance agent asked me to claim damages on the person since he hit me from behind. my agent also warn me that if i don't do it, don't expect them to reciprocate. in the afternoon on the same day, i went to TP HQ to file a report as required. Guess what? the motorcyclist was there as well. So he is fine, no major injuries, just minor cuts on his elbows. seeing that he is injured, i decided not to claim any damages against the protest of my agent. but i always believe that a good deed will receive positive karma. guess what? today i received from my insurance company that the farker is claiming a huge amount of money from me. see, i should have do what most people would have done. either run him over or claim all my repairs on him. i've learned today never to be kind-hearted and always be shrewd when it comes to dealing with people on the road from today on. very disappointed in man-kind...

Basically, my meter up lorry since i moved in. I abit gong3, so i thought my bill quite low, very good! Turns out that the meter spoil. So SP fixed it and took the reading from the next month, multiply by the few months the meter up lorry, then they try to backcharge me. How i try to complain, read the above URL. Under an agreement signed in 2000 and revised in 2003 Fiat has the right to sell Fiat Auto to General Motors from January 24, 2005 until July 24, 2010. But GM, which holds a 10 percent stake in Fiat Auto, insisted that the option was no longer valid since Fiat Auto's recapitalization in 2003 and the sale by Fiat of its automobile credit unit Fidis to a group of banks. Fiat and GM on January 24 agreed to carry on with mediation efforts to resolve the dispute until February 1. Fiat said it would be entitled to exercise the option on February 2. For GM the option of acquiring Fiat Auto appeared to be an attractive idea five years ago. But since then Fiat Auto has suffered a financial crisis, running up debts of eight billion euros. Italian press reports have said Fiat was seeking between one and three billion euros in compensation for abandoning the sales option.

will be getting my car soon, 1st time. Previous company pay car allowance $500 if you drive. That time no car didn't get allowance. Now joined new company but no allowance given. So have to pay from own pocket for car . Seems nowadays most companies don't pay transport allowance, I guess it is to save money. Instead they hire buses to bring their workers to work
