  1. will probably become Liverpool legend if he stick with the club, but too bad... one of the two iconic names that represented English football in the late 90s/early 2000s (at least he's the only two footballers whom my female friends knew, the other being David Beckham... who else ) i remember his wonder goal against Argentina, his hattrick against Germany, another hattrick against Newcastle

  3. Pls liverpool fans, stop calling him a traitor. From my understanding,he is willing to sacrifice himself and join a club which he did not like.He brought his worst bad luck and jinx them .In my heart,he is the best.Hope he can stay there for another 10 years. All the best to Owen.
  4. Owen could be on brink of Man Utd move - reportsBuzz up! Digg it Reuters, Thursday July 2 2009 LONDON, July 3 (Reuters) - Former European Footballer of the Year Michael Owen may be on the verge of joining Manchester United from relegated Newcastle United, according to several British media reports on Friday. The England international could move to the Premier League champions if he passes a stringent medical examination, said the reports. A Manchester United spokesman told the BBC the club would not comment on the speculation. Owen shot to fame with Liverpool and England before joining Real Madrid in 2004. He had a single, frustrating season at the Bernabeu, where he played well but never managed to cement a first team place, before moving to Newcastle in 2005. Owen has since struggled for form and fitness and fallen out of favour with England manager Fabio Capello. Last month he said he would be leaving Championship (second division) side Newcastle within weeks. He won the European Footballer of the Year award in 2001.
