TL;DR - Cam-car's attempt to filter behind the McLaren Convoy was disrupted by a McLaren 720S that sped past to prevent overtaking. A perfect example of monkey on wheels. Watch this 33-second video to see how this cam-car tried to sandwich between two McLarens but almost got 'rekt'. So what happened? The cam-car signaled right with the intention to filter to the next lane behind the McLaren Convoy. However, his/her attempt failed as a McLaren 720S sped up to prevent the cam-car from cutting into the lane - which was not wrong of the 720S but the cam-car definitely thought otherwise. The space between the 720S and the Convoy was the safety distance maintained and it was unsafe for the cam-car to overtake in that situation. But of course, the cam-car was clearly unhappy about it. In case you didn't know how powerful the 720S is: It's a supercar for a reason. During the multiple lane switches, the BMW went too close for comfort with a motorcyclist in front of it. As a result, the motorcyclist lost balance and fell, rolling multiple times on the road. Because there’s nothing more Christmas-sy than getting a surprise visit from the TP. In a video posted on Christmas Day, a reckless Honda Civic driver decided to make his own Fast and Furious sequel on the TPE. With the cam car travelling in the middle lane, the driver caught the white Honda Civic dashing through the (snow) roads on the first lane. The white car swiftly overtook its left silver taxi, squeezing itself just in front of the cam car. The driver then recklessly cut in front of the taxi and sped up, with its left indicator shining strongly in the night. The Honda’s crazy antics led to a few drivers slowing down on the middle lane. Surprisingly, the taxi didn’t waver once throughout the whole ordeal. Speeding and overtaking on the left? All jokes aside, the way this Honda Civic driver drove on the expressway is perilous and reckless. In Singapore, the speed limit for expressways and tunnels ranges from 80 to 90 km/h. Judging from the video, it looks like the Civic was doing more than the limit. Drivers who exceed the speed limit by 40km/h or less will be issued a fine ranging from $130 to $170 and up to 8 demerit points. On the other hand, drivers who exceed the speed limit by more than 40 km/h will have to be prosecuted in court. They will also be issued up to 24 demerit points. When if comes to overtaking, we bet this Honda Civic driver is one of the most skilled drivers on our road if not the most skilled. This happened on Christmas eve at around 11:45pm along Bartley East Rd in the area of Kaki Bukit towards the CTE and we must say we are impressed with the precision of the overtake. As you can see from the clip, the matt-greenish Civic Turbo came out of nowhere and moved across from one lane to the other with not much room to spare, before proceeding to accelerate away briskly. A businessman who attacked a passenger in a car which had overtaken him was jailed for four weeks on Monday. See Kuan Long, 62, had pleaded guilty to punching Mr Lim Beng Hooi, 34, on his face and head multiple times at the junction of Balestier and Thomson roads on Nov 6 last year. Hi all, Wanna know whether this is considered safe overtaking: 1. At lane 1, Car A in front is traveling at around 90~100 and there is wide gap in front (about 5~6 cars length). 2. Car B behind Car A wanted to overtake. 3. So Car B, move to Lane 2 and overtake Car A at Lane 1 easily without even stepping on brake. Turn Right signal was given. 4. Any experience driver realise that the sign "slow moving vehicle keep left unless overtaking" used to be on our expressway are all gone? So no more such sign and TP cant use it to summon us for road hogging? I think they need to put up this sign again to remind all those road hogger out there.

Time for TP to ammend new traffic ruling! As per subject

Before you guys shoot me, pls read on. Scenario: I drive on the e/way with little traffic at 90kph. To avoid being a road hog, I choose Lane 3. In front of me, a car is travelling slower on Lane 2, say at 70kph or 80kph. Is it an offence for me to continue to drive on Lane 3 and hence, overtake him? Or, do I need to filter right to Lane 2, then Lane 1, to overtake him?

Guys, Since my previous thread has been removed and you all eager to know what is Traffic Police reply regarding the overtaking lane. It is not wrong to give way to fast-moving vehicles if you are already travelling within the speed limit unless those emergency vehicles like Ambulance or Police cars. You should give way to fast moving vehicles on the extreme right lane of the road or expressway if you are slower than the speed limit of the road or expressway. Even if you are travelling above the speed limit of the road, you are advised to keep your speed within the speed limit of the road. You may wish to know that it is also an offence to drive at unreasonably low speeds on the road, especially on the rightmost lane or along the centre of the road or expressway. Almost everyday i come across cars cruising on 1st lane eventhough 2nd lane has nt much vehicle & even travelling @ same speed... I guess S'poreans needs to be more considerate on this point. Some ppl even taught speed limit for highway is 90km/hr & so travelling at 1st lane @ 90km/hr is nt wrong thus refuses to give way to fast moving vehicle... Sometimes there're ppl complaining abt tailgating but do think back whether are u road hogging 1st Lane? Juz wan to make a point here in this forum... Cheers!

To the driver of the silver Hyundai Matrix OPC travelling on Tampines St 45 earlier this morning at around 6.50am : Your attempt to overtake me on the zebra crossing was downright foolish, selfish & just shows complete disregard to traffic rules. I stopped in front of the raised crossing as there was a few school children crossing over to the bus stop ahead. You came up from behind and was to my right, ready to just dash over. If I had not looked into my mirror & saw that you were not slowing down enough, and had I not blared my horn (even though I was ahead of you), you'd have most probably mowed down the poor child in the middle of the raised crossing. The child, if you recall, was stunned for a few moments after you jammed on the brakes. Now, as I'm driving an OPC myself & while I can understand the feverish rush one has to make when one has overslept (or whatever caused the delay) in order to make the 7am no-move timing, such driving behaviour is still unjustified. Think about it, if you're really late, how much is $20 for the coupon or even a $10K fine for not having one displayed after 7am, compared to one innocent human life? I sincerely hope that this is a one-off incident on your part. Please remember, NEVER, EVER, attempt to overtake recklessly no matter how big of a hurry you're in. More so in an estate where there's a high volume of human traffic, and NEVER on a zebra crossing. No amount of money you can spend can ever justify the blood of a human being on your hands.

Why is it dangerous and illegal? I admit I don't know why.. but since driving school never taught me, i suspect a number of people out there don't know either. the typical L-plater gets zero opportunity to overtake from the left. and thus driving instructors tend to miss out on this point. when one overtakes "safely" even on the left, why is it dangerous, assuming one signals n checks blind spot before doing so?
