  1. My car's thermostat housing broke. Need to be replaced. Was quoted $110+ for the replacement of it, inclusive of labour. Is it reasonable?
  2. I noticed there's only an auto option in Starsauto. Has anyone tried asking for a manual one from them?
  3. Hi all, I'm currently thinking of buying a new car.. Looking at Optra5, seems quite chio to me, does anyone have it yet? Care to share any feedback on this car? Cheers. My brother had a Optra sedan, so I'm thinking of not getting a same car in the family...
  4. Shall we take a vote for the Optra 5 MT ? CBX
  5. Hi guys... anyone know if the manual version of Optra5 is coming to our shores?? not sure if anyone posted this question before... thanks for your time... on the same note, any new cars coming to our shores soon??

  7. Fellow Chevvy Enthusiasts, Was browsing the Malaysian Chevrolet website at (http://www.chevrolet.com.my/) and found out they recently released the Optra5 in Malaysia as 1.8L. You can download the PDF brochure and read the specifications. So close but so far away The Optra5 would have been FANTASTIC with a 1.8L engine Hehe... maybe I can buy a 1.8L one in Johor in my same colour, swap to my SG license plate before driving it up...
  8. Would like to consult the bros here. Saw an offer for a 6 mths old O5 on sale at $53k... Is it worth buying? Currently brand new at $61k right? Heard many incidents regarding the service quality of SA, if i buy a used is still covered under warranty right?
  9. Saw this Optra5 today
  10. Hey bro and sis who is driving the Optra wagon & Optra5, I happened to found a shop that got visors for the Optra wagon & Optra5. PM me if you are interested and I will give you the address of the shop.
  11. Hi ppl... I'm thinking of getting the Optra5. But, have been reading all the Chevy posts and it seems like Chevy got some FC issue. How bad can it get? 10-11km/L? or worst? If I were to get it I'm thinking of fixing the Optra5 with 17"-18" wheels... So, how bad will be the FC? -------------------------- Genie - Need you advise dude... I went to test drive few days ago... Comfy ride... but a bit hesitant in terms of pick up.. not that torquey...
  12. Hi bros, Been reading alot of posts about the benefits of switching to lighter rims in terms of pickup, handling and FC. The stock Optra5 (multi-spoke) rims are heavy (close to 9kgs) as reported. I took the plunge this morning to trade in the stocks and install these original Borbet Type A rims: http://www.wheelspecs.com/specs/wheelmodels/937 They are cast manufactured in Germany and weigh around 5.5kgs. Not the lightest rims in the market but definitely lighter than the stocks. I am hoping German engineering lives to its name for robustness . Some friends have complained about the lighter Taiwan made rims; with some balancing and structural integrity problems. Not your typical screaming racing rims but I opted for a more subdued conti-look. Had them installed at South Pac at Sin Ming Autocare. Good price and friendly service I will be looking for flushed plain silver cover plates to replaced the current ones with the borbet logos. It should look better like this: Thought I'ld share the pics with you
  13. Hi brothers, This post is more in way of information only. Following the suggestion from Brother Osiris to consider getting a carbon fibre bonnet, I proceeded to search around for one. As expected Optra5 being a less common car has no off-the-shelve carbon fibre bonnets like popular makes of VIOS, WRX and LANCERs. I proceeded to enquire with Sage Racing, a local company that also makes custom carbon fibre bonnets. See www.sageracing.net They advised that construction of a carbon fibre bonnet costs something around SGD$800 only. However, because the Optra5 is not common, they would need to custom design and construct a mold for the Optra5 bonnet. This design and construction of the mold will costs SGD$ 5000 and the mold would subsequently belong to me since they don't expect much demand for this model. Hence all in all the total expected damage assuming I am crazy enough to have this done is $SGD 5800. The only way to reduce this is to go in on a group basis with other like-minded crazies to custom design, construct and jointly own the mold for the Optra5 bonnet. Anyway, just an exercise in information sharing. Let me wait long long for a TOTO windfall then I may consider going ahead
  14. Nice looking Suzuki Reno aka Optra5
  15. Hi, CAn you all post the FC for ur rides? MT/AT?
  16. hi, great to find lots of info in this forum. right now, i need advice/opinion between Nissan Sunny & Optra5 (hatchback). How's the spareparts for Chevrolet, izzit expensive and have to wait for quite some time? Optra5 is on the high side in terms of pricing but design wins over Sunny. pls kindly advice, thanks
  17. Hi guys, I'm this close to signing on the dotted line (maybe nowadays they use solid lines, actually) for an optra5. Wonder if any optra5 owners here would like to advise me on what to look out for, what i can bargain for etc etc... and.. i've seen the black, blue, silver and red one, but dunno wat the brown (beige?) one looks like, anyone got a pic to show? I'm surprised that some reviews have said that the engine is quiet. i mean it's not NOISY but i wouldn't say it's quiet. nice tone to it, but certainly not quiet. anyone? any comments on this car, good or bad, please educate me!! maybe quite soon i'll be part of your family.
  18. See and dream if yours can become like it. Man! These guys are creative and their Photoshop skills damn solid! Optra5 wide body concept http://www.daewootech.com/forum/album_pic.php?pic_id=628 Agatka concept. Looks more like Peugeot 407 concept This one lagi most solid. He Photoshopped and added in his "virtual" tuning step by step as if he really added in the Greddy FMIC. See more over here: http://lacetti.jinak.cz/...kaz&galerie_id=1
