  4. Dear forumers, I am planning to resign from my current company soon. I intend to offset my earned leave (30 days) to offset against my notice period of one month. This is allowed under MOM's rules; however, I don't get paid for my leave, and I can immediately start work with my new employer on the next day. I have sought advice from many friends; some say serve your notice, some say use your leave to offset. I have a very tense relationship with my manager and I don't wish to serve the notice period; indirectly, by using my leave to offset, I am working for the company for free for one month, by not cashing in my leave if I serve the notice period. What would you do? Thanks.
  5. Hellaflush. Wheel offset, Small stretched tires, on a slammed vehicle = flush, or hella flush as people like to say. damn your rims are sitting hella flush With lotsa ppl chasing after an automotive lifestyle and this is one part of it. And it is getting more and more popular.
  6. [extract] When I first bought my car, the wheels on it was in a terrible state. It was full of kerb rash and dents. I decided to get a new set of wheels and did some internet research on what type of wheels that I would like to get. During that time, I came across several terms that were alien to me. Things like pitch circle diameter (PCD) and offset were new to me and I simply did not understand them. I asked several people about it and got several explanations about them and it just made me more confused. Eventually, I found out the real meaning of these terms in a magazine and I wish to share them with everyone here who might have the same problems as I did before. Let

  8. Mazda was granted a new U.S. patent this week for the design of an offset wheel-mounted motor for electric and hybrid vehicles. In previous wheel/hub motor configurations, the motor has typically been mounted concentric with the wheel. The essence of the patent is that the motor is offset from the wheel axis, with a gearset installed to provide drive torque to the hub. Usually, a hub motor consumes most of the space inside the wheel, limiting the possible mounting locations for the suspension links and compromising ride and handling. In theory, Mazda's new arrangement provides more room in the wheel and flexibility for the suspension geometry. However, the gearset hardware at the wheel will increase unsprung mass and degrade the ride and handling accordingly. There is another possible benefit of this type of installation, however. It provides Mazda with the flexibility to do either a through-the-road hybrid, by having motors on one axle and mechanical drive at the other end, or a power-split hybrid. By offsetting the motor, drive from an engine could still come in through the hub and the gearset could be used for torque blending. Whether this is actually better than the traditional power-split hybrid used by Toyota and Ford is debatable. Finally, there could be a simpler explanation: The real motivator for this patent might be to create a hybrid system that doesn't conflict with patents held by numerous other automakers. Thanks for the tip, Charlie! [source: Free Patents Online]

  11. Frenchwoman fined $250 for killer litter By Elena Chong By Elena Chong Later, while they were having a heated argument over their relationship, she hurled the items out of her kitchen window in an emotional state. -- WONG KWAI CHOW/THE STRAITS TIMES A FRENCHWOMAN was given the maximum fine of $250 on Thursday for throwing a wooden knife holder containing a chopper and two knives from her kitchen window. Bionda Courbet Sandrine, 39, shed tears of relief after District Judge Jill Tan handed down the fine. The financial adviser had earlier pleaded guilty to hurling the item from the 15th-floor of her Ridgewood Close condominium on Jan 27. It landed on the top level of a carpark. A cleaner heard the sound of the fallen items and called the police. When police came, she admitted that she was responsible for hurling the items out of the window. A court heard that she and her boyfriend returned home that morning after a heavy drinking session. Later, while they were having a heated argument over their relationship, she hurled the items out of her kitchen window in an emotional state. Her lawyer Hamidul Haq said Bionda, divorced with two daughters, threw the items out as she was afraid that her boyfriend would carry out his threat to end his own life. Judge Tan, who ruled out calling for a pre-sentence report sought by the lawyer, felt that this was not a case that called for a jail sentence which can go up to three months in this case. http://www.straitstimes.com.sg/Breaking%2B...ory_268004.html $250.. tat's 1/2 month salary for toylet janitors... so much, really buay tahan, must end up at liverberi temper eat and tah pao everyday. so sad for her!!!

  14. I know what offset means but can someone please explain whether its possible to change from +40"ish" to anywhere between +10 to +30??? I have no farking clue as to whether decreasing the positive offset will make the wheel stick out more or the reverse! I can't visualise the effect!
  15. any1 figured out the meanings of the different offsets? e.g. i found an offset for my model of CDR drive on the web pages. it's +667. however, i'm wondering if that's the read offset, or the write offset, or the "combined". and if i use it as "combined", that means i don't have to set read & write offsets at all? actually this whole idea of offset is to prevent loss of a few frames at the start / end of the entire disc, but it does not affect the content in the middle hor.
  16. My ride is a FF (front engine, front wheel drive) like most of us here. Normal offset is +42. Was wondering if I can actually install Front : +42 offset rims Rear : +38 offset rims With this setup, I will have slightly wider wheel base for my rear. Understand that this setup will give stable ride for FR (Front Engine, Rear wheel Drive). Anyway comments for our normal FF cars?

  22. hi guys, My fren drives a Jazz and he went to Stamford sales last weekend, found one 14" rim that suit his taste but the rim offset only 40, according to KM workshop advice, he can only use offset of 60 or above for 14" rim and 45 or above for 15". So does it mean that a 14" rim + 40 will not fit his car?
