Two Chinese nationals were killed when a tour bus, driven by a man with no driving licence, overturned while travelling downhill from Genting Highlands on June 29, reported New Straits Times (NST). The tour bus was carrying 21 people – 18 Chinese tourists and three Malaysians – when the accident occurred at about 10.40am. Pahang Fire and Rescue Department director Wan Mohamad Zaidi Wan Isa told The Star that both male victims suffered head injuries, and their bodies were taken to Bentong Hospital. The department’s deputy director of operations Ismail Abdul Ghani said that the two victims were trapped in the vehicle, while the other passengers managed to exit the vehicle with light injuries, NST reported. Gaming giant Genting Malaysia, which runs an integrated resort in Genting Highlands, said in a statement that the tour bus, which was ferrying Chinese tourists from Yunnan, was owned by a third-party operator. The 32-year-old bus driver was driving without a licence, said the Bentong district police chief, Superintendent Zaiham Mohd Kahar, adding that the man had been issued 27 traffic summonses. The latest accident was a “stark reminder of the persistent road safety issues” facing Malaysia, said Tan Sri Lee Lam Thye, chairman of the Alliance for a Safe Community. https://www.straitstimes.com/asia/se-asia/two-chinese-tourists-dead-after-tour-bus-overturns-in-genting-highlands

Driver fled after crashing a Porsche Macan into a traffic light and overturning
millanda posted a blog entry in MyAutoBlog
TL;DR - No way home for this driver as s/he fled the scene after crashing the SUV onto a traffic light and a concrete barrier. No money, lots of problems. Too much money, more problems. Watch this 38-second video of the Porsche Macan going from a high performance car to a useless one. What happened? The car collided into a temporary traffic light and a concrete barrier at Ophir Road after Beach Road. It was told that the driver had escaped from the Macan, most likely drunk since the accident occurred at 4AM. I have a question... What can one be doing at 4AM on a Wednesday? Online Chatter Rumours have it that the driver fled back to his strawberry farm. Ooof. Just some rich man problems that commoners cannot relate to. And won’t want to anyway. Takeaway Though it is only allegations that this accident happened from drink driving, it is also important to reiterate that alcohol is a make-you-stupid drug. If there's one thing worse than being driven to drink, and that's driving yourself home from it. ========= Be the first to get the latest road/ COE news and get first dibs on exclusive promos and giveaways in our Telegram SGCM Community. The affected luxury cars included models from Maserati, Porsche and Land Rover. AsiaOne | Tuesday, Jul 22, 2014 XIAMEN, China - A trailer truck carrying 11 brand new luxury vehicles overturned after a collision with a car on the Shenyang-Haikou expressway. According to QQ News, the truck crashed into a black Mazda sedan's rear on July 20 at around 6.20pm. Several passengers in the car were injured, and the truck tipped over to its side from the impact. The truck driver claimed that the sedan suddenly cut into his lane on the expressway, and that he executed an emergency brake to avoid hitting the car. However, there are speculations of the truck tailgating the Mazda on the road. Xiamen media reported that rescue workers arrived at the scene shortly after the accident and sent the injured passengers to the hospital for medical treatment. Two mobile cranes were also deployed to lift the scattered cars off the road. The affected luxury cars included models from Maserati, Porsche and Land Rover. The military style precision car-jacking and robbery @ Johor Bahru seem to be more professional over the years!! Share 0 inShareThe New Paper Monday, May 28, 2012 It was a robbery that involved dangerous manoeuvres, a car chase, and violent men wielding parangs. It ended with the victim being slashed and the SUV turning turtle. The drama unfolded on Thursday afternoon in Johor Baru's business district. Shin Min Daily News reported that the victim, a man in his 40s, was driving the Singapore-registered SUV. There were friends on board with him. The victim, who is Malaysian Chinese, lives in Johor Baru. When he drove into a back lane behind some shop houses, he noticed a stationary brown SUV blocking his way. Then, a Proton bearing a Kuala Lumpur-licence plate swerved into the lane. The victim was sandwiched. Speaking to the media from a private hospital, the victim recalled: "Immediately after (I entered the back lane), two cars outflanked me. Men rushed out from the vehicles and smashed my car windows." Five of the eight robbers wielded parangs. Threw rolling pin A chef, who wanted to be known as Ami, was working in the kitchen of one of the shophouses and witnessed the incident. He was holding a rolling pin, which he threw at the robbers. It hit one of them. Ami, 27, said his action angered the group. One man turned round and scolded him. Ami said: "He shouted at me not to interfere." The chef heeded the warning. Though he was holding a vegetable peeling knife as well, he knew he was ill-equipped to fight against the robbers, with their parangs. Malaysian newspaper Sin Chew Daily reported that the robbers were Indonesians. They grabbed two briefcases from the victim's SUV before fleeing the scene. But the victim fought back.He gave chase in his SUV - unsuccessfully. After a 500m drive, the victim tried to overtake the robbers but collided with another car at the side of the road, causing his SUV to overturn. That was when he saw a white car, with no licence plate. The robbers abandoned their own SUV and dashed into the waiting Harrier. Still, the victim didn't give up. He grabbed a wooden club from his SUV and approached the fleeing robbers. That proved to be a painful decision. Infuriated, one of the robbers slashed the victim's right arm, tearing the ligament in his middle finger. The victim also suffered a broken bone in his ring finger. The robbers managed to escape, leaving a trail of destruction. There were pools of blood on the road and blood stains on the wooden club. Residents in the area sent the injured victim to hospital. Johor Baru south district police director Zainudin confirmed that the suitcases contained large amounts of cash from two money changers. The exact amount is unknown. It was also unclear where the cash was being sent. This article was first published in The New Paper.

just to share. Was entering the CTE towards city via the sliproad along Yio Chu Kang road this morning when I saw a overturned truck a few cars in front of me. Traffic along the sliproad was at a stand-still. Reason being that the truck has blocked almost the whole road, leaving a gap that only a trishaw can pass through. [inline 1st.jpg] This sliproad was particularly long, maybe 200m or so, and has 2 entrances. Therefore, you can imagine the jam. Being at the front of the jam, and having no way to go through, a brave taxi mounted the kerb using his right tyres, and squeezed his way through. See the picture. You can still see the cab driving off. I was not going to risk my car on the kerb, and had to reverse all the way out of the sliproad. A few other cars copied the taxi's great escape, but I wondered how many made it through safely. Of note, I would like to praise a gentleman in a green polo shirt, driving a black Peugeot. He helped to divert the traffic out of the sliproad, and even stayed on to prevent more vehicles from entering even after all the vehicles have left. I know cos I was at the front of the jam, therefore to reverse out, I would be one of the last to leave. He was still there diverting the traffic then.
