  1. hi all... this topic has been discussed before i'm sure... well lately i read tis article by NUS motoring club Mr. MAHINDRA... he said his tyres were pumped with nitrogen and that his tyre pressur was STILL THE SAME AFTER 10000KM... sure anot??? i understand Nitrogen in present in the air... so there will be nitrogen in our tyres even if we used a normal air pump... after awhile air will escape... in a matter of a few day as i have noticed.... but the nitrogen inside will still be there... so after say 20000km of driving and pumping once a week... the percentage of nitrogen WILL increase correct?... maybe if tyres last long enuf eventually will be mostly nitrogen in the tyres... haha anyways those of you who have nitrogen filled tyres... is it true 10000km still same tyre pressure??? if yes i am going to head off immediately to fill my tyres with nitrogen... keke...
  2. Dear all, If your existing tyres were filled up with Nitrogen, is it ok to top it up with normal air? Or is it a must to top it up with Nitrogen only?
  3. I also dun mind doing pump air every alternate week since I have been doing that for the past many years. But nitrogen is something new when ppl rave about the advantage
  4. Recently, my dad went to change tyres and ended up having them pumped with nitrogen. He says that you're not suppose to mix normal air with nitrogen and that the tyres can only be topped up with nitrogen. Sounds suspicious to me. Is there any advantage in pumping nitrogen or is it just a gimmick?
  5. Guys, i need ur advise.. 3 months ago i just change new tyres and it`s topped up with nitrogen gas. The shop say i can come top up anytime as long they r free to do so for me. But the thing is they r always packed with ppl ! And if i just go n ask for a top up without buying anything seems a bit pai sai ( Shy ). I dun mind paying a few bucks for it, but is it worth or is it a need to pay for it ? So any bro/sis here have any suggestions for me ? Thanks in adv
  6. When I got my Hankook more than half a year ago, they pump nitrogen. Now the front do look they need some pressure, and I'm lazy to drive out of the way to their workshop for the nitrogen refill. So can I pump air into it to the correct pressure?
  7. Hi, Recently I changed my tyres and it came filled with Nitrogen gas. However, when I sent in for my routine servicing at my AD workshop last month, the guys there told me they don't have Nitrogen gas n hence will not touch my tyres as the readings will be very different on the sensor. My Qns: - If that is the case, can I still go to the petrol kiosk n pump in normal air? n Should I follow strictly to 230? (I used to pump 230 on my old tyres) - My old 15" I used to pump 230, I just upsize to 16"..do I still pump at the same amount? ie. 230. Thanks
  8. Wat the use of pumping Nit to the tyres !!!!!
  9. For those who are on nitrogen filled tyres... Do you guys check the tyre pressure constantly? How often do you top up / refill the nitrogen?
  10. Any bro or sis got try nitrogen tyre inflation? Any feedback?
  11. Researching off the net, one of the benefit of using nitrogen in tyres (compared to normal air) is that nitrogen expands less thus lower/cooler running temperature. As such, from safety standpoint, is there a need to factor in compensation to the factory recommended pressure? If so, how much to compensate? Example, factory recommended pressure 220. Normal air - cold = 220, hot = 290 (example) Nitrogen - cold = 220, hot = 270 (example) <- since nitrogen expands less Comments please.
  12. Hi, Am wondering whether is there a good deal out there in the market that allow drivers to go back for free nitrogen top up? How much?
  13. Michelin Develops Airless Tires Worrying about running over a nail, or making sure your tires are always full may be a thing of the past thanks to the R&D team at Michelin. This is a prototype for airless tires. Instead of the regular inflated tire, this tire has the traditional outer treads wrapped around flexible, yet sturdy spokes. Apparently these tires are going by the name tweel, which is completely stupid. Jump to see a video of the tweel in action. Image via Fourtitude [/color]
  14. can my current tyres nitrogen gas mix with normal air pump gas?? Pls advice..
  15. Went to a car shop in KL..they ask me whether 1 2 use nitrogen gas 2 pump my car tyres..they charge RM4+..4 all 4 tyres...top up FOC...but decline coz my cousin say JB oso have.. My relatives claim dat use nitrogen pump tyres is gd..coz; -No need 2 top up air, nitrogen can last long, -better fuel consumption coz lighter.. -Tyre wear & tear better.. Dunno true or not..skali drive 1/2way...tyre explode...any1 hear of tis?
  16. any1 got nitrogen gas for their tyres???i was quote 640rm(neg) for goodyear NCT5 included free balancing, free nitrogen gas, free wheel aligament and free chrome tyre cap from HAWK TYRE in jb taman sentosa..iziit a good deal?? so if pump nitrogen gas ,can we still pump normal gas at those petrol station??
  17. hi all, need to enquire, say right now the tyres are pump with nitrogen which can lasts longer w/o any re-fill unlike using air. what happens in the future, i want to pump air back into the tyres instead of using nitrogen, how do you initiate this process ? deflate the entire tyre and pump air back again ? or simply mix in the air into the existing nitrogen filled tyres ? thanks
  18. guys guys..i forgot is it nitrogen or hydrogen...whatever..its just now normal air. Now i want to pump more pressure in how? can i just go kiosk and pump air in? or go back to the work shop to pump nitrogen/hydrogen/whatever back in?
  19. as stated i read from somewhere that stamford offers to fill 1 tire at S$10 a one time fee and subsequent fill is free but what are the advantages?
  20. Hi has anyone tried topping up the tyres with Nitrogen before? Care to share if its good. If yes, why is it good Got any cheap lobang to do that? Alvin
  21. Just curious, for tyres with Nitrogen gas, can it be topped up with normal air ? Since, the tyres is already a mix between normal air and Nitrogen air to start off with (though they release all air, but there's still some amount of normal in there right ?)
  22. Hiya... fren just filled his tyres with nitrogen. Am told it's lighter, more constant temperature etc. Wondering if anyone in MCF tried - what's the effect before and after ?
  23. Hi Guys Does putting nitrogen gas in tires really enhances performance of the tire? This debate has been ongoing about the necessity of paying more for nitrogen and thus getting more performance out of it. Is it really essential? Can the driver really feel the difference? (Race cars aside). Please provide your personal hands-on experience. Thanks.
  24. Why inert tire gas filling? Formula 1, aviation and hazardous transport trucks use already for a long time inert fillings of tires. Most of civil drivers do not take care on their tire pressure. Because the pressure loss is reduced and the fire risk is avoided this filling of tires contributes substantially to security, comfort and economy . What is an inert filling of tires with nitrogen? The compressed air normally existing in the tire is replaced by an inert filling with tire gas. This gas is cleaned from particles, oil vapour and humidity. Above all especially this air is oxygen-poor, i.e. inert (= low reactive). What causes inert filling of tires? Inert tire gas avoids oxidation at the rim and valve seat. Also the tire rubber is protected inside against oxidation by the low oxygen share. Inflammations in the tire inside are not possible any longer, since without oxygen in air no process of combustion can take place. The loss of the molecules by the rubber wall of the tire (pressure loss by diffusion) is reduced. What are the advantages of a more constant tire pressure ? More driving safety by better handling characteristics Higher durability of tire caused by optimized rolling resistance More comfort by better taking up of impacts Less fuel consumption caused by lower rolling resistance Better handling & road holding Reduces tread wear and increases tyre life by up to 25% Correct inflation pressures reduce puncture risk by up to 33% Reduced rolling resistance improves miles per gallon by 2% Improved pressure retention
