It seems that there are some car owners out there who just can't take any shred of criticism about their cars...even if the criticism is shared by many... Over the weekend, I woke up to find a rather humourous email (titled: wildest Z on the planet) from Jim Deaubler about how much he doesn't appreciate what I said about the 350Z Roadster in a review I wrote about the 370Z Roadster. Here's the email from Jim Deaubler... "I thought I would drop you a line on the comments that were made about my car. First of all, before you print your b-------t get the facts straight. The car was on ebay 2 times and the 2nd time ended up with a $32,005 bid which did not meet the reserve. When someone uses the word ABSURD I find it offensive especially coming from people like you and what you drive, The fact is the car had 78 bids and 43 bidders. I would love to see what you drive or have built. My car goes from 0-60 in 4.0 seconds and has a top speed of 188mph all documented by Sears Point Raceway. What does your do.? I really could car less about your comments ..I just look at the source...but what does bother me is when you don't get your facts correct. Maybe you should start writing for the Hollywood gossip mags since a lot of your comments are not based on fact. Have a great day and maybe some day you will read and get the facts correct before you decide to sit down and shoot your mouth off about something you don't know about." As you can see, Jim rambled on about how his car goes a million miles per hour and how everyone on eBay is tripping over themselves to buy it off him. Well...congratulations Jim for having such a cool ride. I'm sure your million horsepower machine would put a Mach 2.5 F-15 to shame. Even so, my opinions about the 350Z remains. It still looks like a coupe missing its roof and the interior is tackier than it should be for a premier sports car from Nissan. That said, as mentioned in my review. The 370Z has made up for everything that was wrong with the 350Z and more. Unfortunately though, the 3.5-litre V6 in the 350Z still gives a better sound and I think Jim should be glad about that. I do feel complimented by Jim's email. For one, I'm happy that if my review garners this sorta response, I'm probably doing something right. Secondly, I'm happy that my readership spreads as far as the US. Nevertheless I do have a small tip for Jim. I'll be careful driving 188mph on Sears Point Raceway though. Lest your magnificent machine connects with the wall. Then again, the 350Z might look better after that.
