Hi folks, thanks to a motorist who gestured to me yesterday at the exit of TPE at Upper Changi, who informed me that a nail got embedded into my tire ( to you!!), I realised that the nail got into the tire and only the top of it is on the top layer of the tire. Should I send it to a workshop to have it extracted, or should I just leave it? I checked the tire pressure this morning, and it seems like there is not leakage.

  3. On a Sunday morning during car wash, I noticed that one of rear tires was noticeably running out of gas. A close inspection confirmed my suspicion that a puncture has occurred, thanks to a nail. Being a virgin in tire replacement, I count myself lucky that the incident occurred when my car is parked nicely in the carpark rather than in the middle of the road. After the car wash was completed, I proceed to retrieve the car manual and informed my dad about the puncture. He said this was a good training opportunity for me and so basically he became the supervisor and I became the worker. Here are some points that I noted after my first lesson in tire replacement and would like to share them with those who are as green as me in such matters: 1.) Loosen the nuts slightly using a spanner before jacking up the car. The rationale behind this is that if the car is jacked up before the nuts are loosened, the wheel may turn as you try to loosen them, making the task rather difficult. However, do not remove the nuts completely as the wheel may risk falling off unexpectedly as the car is being jacked up, causing injury. 2.) Do not lay underneath the car. Serious injury can occur if the jack gives way. 3.) Make sure there is sufficient ground clearance space not just to remove the punctured tire, but to install the spare tire. Take note that the inflated spare tire would require more ground clearance space than a deflated tire. 4.) After the spare tire has been positioned nicely on the disc rotor, gently secure it using your hands with the nuts. Use the spanner to tighten the nuts only after the jack has been lowered. Otherwise, the wheel may turn as you try to tighten. Finally, get the punctured tire repaired as soon as possible before another tire becomes unserviceable. You never know when Murphy
  4. yoz all gurus here, newbie me got some questions to ask again! just kana a big nail inside my tyre, and went to tyre shop the guy said wah why your nail is big, and thick, and wen in like 3 cm deep. but when it pluck out, he said no leak air, so is fine, and dont even need to pacth? sae the hole is there as the nail is real big so how gurus, any advice?
  5. What a sunday.. Early morning realised one front tyre totally flat and caused by one thick nail (abt 2cm long) on the tyre. Must be the last night drive near constr site. Wanted to change to spare tyre, but realised that the nuts to the wheel are too tight to be removed, not even slight loosen. Already tried whole body weight on it but didn't work. After considering the car is in the open carpark surrounded by other cars and space constraint, decided to call for outdoor tyre service(recom by Mr Soh Tyre). The uncle cme shortly and said no problem, small matter. He uses the generator from his lorry to pump up the flat tyre, then took out the nail and fix the hole. He said no need to change the tyre as it is still use-able and it is common for such. Glad that issue is over, paid him 40 as agreed earlier. Was wondering, is the nuts to the wheels supposed to be so 'super tight'? like that if on the road and need to chge, cfm cannot make it. is it really safe to drive after fixing the hole like tt? any possible side effect? is the charge of $30 for labour and $10 for fixing expensive or norm? if to call AD (toyota) for tow service, how much does it cost? not sure any bros can share on their related experience. thanks.
  6. Hi all, My door handle area suffered from finger nail scratches. I saw some cars actually come originally with it or can affixed with aftermarket cover plate to protect against finger nail scratches. Do you guys know where to get them? Thank you very much. Regards,

  8. Did u guys notice, especially those that use Woodlands Checkpoint. The hump is really in bad shape. ICA is doing nothing to replace the hump and as a result "nail" is sticking out like an eyesore!!!!! Sooner or later, gurantee 1-2 cars sure kena tyre puncture!!!!!!.
  9. 1. Do you change the tyre right away if you found nail on its surface? 2. I was told a repaired tyre run the risk of tyre burst if running at high speed. One of my Hankook Prime kena nail on the thread. The workshop told me patched from inside would be safer and better than punch hole and glue back. Comments please. Arigato ozaimasu s_hita.

  11. Just dicover I have a rusty nail embedded in my rear left tyre. It protrudes out from the side towards the edge at an angle. There is no head on the nail, maybe got scraped off already. The tyre don't seem to be losing pressure. Is it safe to leave the nail alone?
  12. Dear all, Have got a 4" nail stuck in the back tyre of the driver's side. Went to Stamford tyres hoping to get it mend, however, the nail is stuck at the wall. The guy advised that it could not be mended and we need to change our tyres... They removed the nail and sort of like put a stopper. Pump the pressure of the tyres up, in hope that it could last till tomorrow to go back C&C to change new tyres... Thread life still left 90%.. heart pain.... Is there really no way to mend it? understand that it is safer to change a pair instead of just changing the affected tyres. Is it true? Appreciate precious advise from bros and sis.. Thank you.
  13. Went to East Coast last night and came back with a 4" long nail in one of my rubbers. Sigh.... the diameter of the nail is about 0.5cm... Just changed tyres 3 weeks ago... sighz... Immediately went to the Balestier tyre shop to mend the tyre, but the uncle said might have to get a new one if tyre air continue leak too much. Two questions: 1. Should I change to a new rubber for the tyre? Or continue to use it? 2. Anyway, I am on 15" ES100. Anyone knows where to buy this cheapest? And what is the cheapest price I can get? I got mine for $90 each. Any advice guys? Thanks, sevenz
