  1. Normal travel is back! Or, that's sure how it looks like a week ago judging by the sheer number of people at the airport when I had the good fortune to once again fly over to the beautiful city of Bavaria for BMW's launch of the new 7-Series and i7. Full flight service seemed to have resumed as well with starters and main courses now served individually plated rather than together on a single tray with clear plastic covers on top. Having had the Boon Tong Kee Chicken rice on my previous trip, I opted this time for the Lobster Thermidor. Granted that the same dishes can taste slightly different on each flight, it was really good this time around, creamy, tasty and thoroughly enjoyable! After a rather fair few hours of intermittent sleep, we approached Germany and it was time for a Laksa brekkie, it wasn't too bad but I reckon Bah Chor Mee's the better option. Also, isn't it time for Singapore Airlines to offer full wifi unlimited on-board and not just a measly data-capped service? Come-on, it's 2022 already! A view I will never get tired of as we cruised towards Munich. And for the first time ever, clear skies all the way toward the airport, giving us a birds-eye view of the City, the Olympic Tower and BMW's iconic four-cylinder building. You can even still see the alps in the distance. What a sight. Since we landed rather early in the morning, we took some time out to explore the city and enjoy its various culinary offerings with a walking food tour. Having been here twice, some of the places we visited were still new to me. What's still familiar (and still welcomed) is, of course, a quick visit to a Munich institution, Haxnbauer, for their Schweinshaxe sandwich. I'm not joking on the institution bit too, because Haxnbauer is located in a historical building that dates back to at least the 14th century, the Scholastikahaus. Back to the sandwich, yes, it is still so good, but also, still too big for me to finish in its entirety. Don't worry, I ate up all the good bits. For everyone who's thinking of visiting Munich, a visit to Haxnbauer is a must, the crackling on the pork knuckles served here is sublime. If you ever have to choose between Hofbrauhaus, Ratskeller or Haxnbauer, here's a quick tip, Hofbrauhaus for the atmosphere, Ratskeller for the convenience and Haxnbauer for the food! All 3 will serve up a good time so don't fret too much if you only have the time for one. Another locale I had yet to visit was the Biergarten in the English gardens. Having visited the garden on my last trip with a slightly busted toe, tighter schedule and much colder weather, I only managed a quick stroll through the park before setting off. This block of concrete is a piece from the Berlin wall. With the conflict going on not too far from here, it did feel a little more sombre seeing such a relic. As we headed onward through the garden, the sun was out, the air was cool and it really did seem like the entire city was here soaking up the lovely weather and atmosphere (and lack of mosquitoes). Something we can only dream of having back in Singapore. Finally, we reached the Biergarten, it was huge! It's been quite a while since I last saw something like this, while it might have looked packed, we still managed to get a table and some seats rather easily. With some drinks downed to cool us off, it was time for our tour guide to set off as we headed towards the BMW Welt and museum for the second half of our first day in Munich. Stay tuned!

  6. http://espnfc.com/news/story/_/id/1454767/...d-books?cc=4716 Bayern rewrite Bundesliga record books May 20, 2013 Runaway champions Bayern Munich have set a host of new Bundesliga records this season. Bayern Munich manager Jupp Heynckes bids farewell at Borussia Monchengladbach As coach Jupp Heynckes brought down the curtain on his Munich career with a thrilling 4-3 win at Borussia Monchengladbach - his hometown club - his class of 2012-13 rewrote the history books in the Bundesliga's 50th year. They collected the most points, 91, beating Dortmund's 2011-12 record by ten, and the most wins, 29. Their superlative away form saw them pick up 47 away points - ten more than the previous best - and rack up a nine-game winning streak on their travels. Their 25-point cushion at the top was the biggest-ever margin, while their goal difference of plus 80 set another record. They wrapped up the title after the lowest number of games, needing only 28 to seal the crown, while keeping the most clean sheets - a total of 21. The eight-match winning streak with which they opened the season created another landmark. And as the campaign progressed, a 14-game winning run became the longest in Bundesliga history. They also emulated their own previous achievement of leading the table from the season's first day to its conclusion and equalled another four German top-flight records:
  7. I saw BBC breaking news.. From July , Pep Guardiola is their new manager.. Anyone can confirm?
  8. Celebrating 40 Years of ///M: Classic Showcase Munich Automobiles, the World's first dedicated BMW M dealership is celebrating BMW M Division's 40th Anniversary, and will be showcasing a small but select choice of classic autos to the public over the weekend. Although the Motorsport division were involved in earlier BMWs, the first true Genesis of the M-car was the uniquely exotic M1. Probably the only BMW ever that has two roundel badges on the rear end. Developed in conjunction with Lamborghini and penned by Giugiaro, the M1 was initially built to satisfy racing homologation rules, but these ever changing rules meant that when the M1 was ready to race, it was outlawed. So instead, they went racing by themselves, creating the M1 Procar series. The series ran for two years, with Niki Lauda winning the 1979 season, and Nelson Piquet the 1980 season. After BMW met the standards for Group 4, the Procars were used by various teams in the World Championship as well as other national series. One of the rarest cars ever made, only 456 production M1s were built, making it one of BMW's rarest models. With 1 making it to Singapore sitting proudly inside the M-car showroom after a painstaking restoration process which began a year ago. They love these car so much, we were given gloves when looking at the cars. I would do the same too if these were my babies. I of course couldn't resist sliding behind the driver's seat. What joy it was just sitting inside. You just know it's a special car when you are seated inside. Hearing one startup though is pure icing on the cake.
  9. [extract] BMW Motorsport Director Jens Marquardt has announced that the M3 DTM (Deutsche Tourenwagen Masters) Concept Car will make its debut in Munich in July 11. The unveiling will take place during the DTM event on 16th and 17th July at Munich
  10. BMW M5 Concept in Singapore BMW has shipped over their coveted M5 Concept over to Munich Auto in Singapore for a showcase over the weekend. And this evening, select members of the press were privy for an early preview of what is essentially the soon-to-be-released F10 M5. Although many have already seen photos of the car during it's unveiling at the Shanghai auto show, this is the first public showing of BMW Motorsports latest crowning achievement. As expected, the car was under wraps but they soon peeled off the covers to reveal the M5 Concept wearing big black wheels and sporting some mean gangsta tints. Neither of which i think will come stock standard on the production car. Lovely side profile Some notable ///M Details. Side vents, big wheels, big brakes and big intakes. The M5 Concept also sported a nice perky rear end too, with sweet-ass quad pipes peeping out the rear. I figured since i at the M-car showroom, i shuffled around to take pictures of other niceties sitting around. An M3 GTS at the back, with 2 already delivered and prowling down Orchard Road soon. Finishing off, a 1-M Coupe and an M3 sitting in their clean as workshop.
  11. Munich Auto held the unveiling of the 1 ///M-Coupe on our local shores and i had the priviledge to sneak a peak. It looks really great in the flesh, very muscular, very stout and great STANCE! Many have asked bout this, the price. $220,000 without COE. Pre-orders for one of only 20 vehicles to be available in Singapore at an exclusive preview on 22-23-24 January 2011. The 1 M will be at Munich Auto for this weekend only. Even under covers, the extended wheelarches gave it a menacing presence. It's abit strange to see a plaque with the words "Powered by BMW M" in place of the traditional badges though. 1 ///M will only come with a stick shift! The preferred shift some might say. Couple of friendly people Here's the Press Release:
  12. Police in Munich have put a stop to a ring of thieves that included BMW employees who were stealing car parts from the factory and selling them on the black market. Authorities say that the gang stole over
  13. The pilsner-swilling Bavarians in charge of BMW's classics sure have been keeping busy lately. With Oktoberfest half a year away, they've launched a new vintage racing division and opened up their restoration garage to private owners. Now they're offering tours around Munich, chauffeured in some very rare classic Bimmers from the company's private collection. The tours begin and end at the BMW Museum, and visit BMW Tower, BMW Welt, and the 3 Series assembly plant as well as various historic sites around the city. The roster of cars used for the tours includes 326 and 335 Cabriolets from the 1930s, the 50s-era 502 "Baroque Angel" Cabriolet, and a one-of-a-kind 3200 CS Cabriolet. The tour will cost a not-insubstantial 90 euros per person (about $120 USD), but if you're planning a trip to Germany between now and October, it looks well worth checking out.
