  1. While there are birds practical enough to help people in life - think of pigeons as letter couriers, some birds out there just don't have any idea whatsoever on what they are doing. The dove in the video below is one example. Believe it or not, doves are not clever, not at all. Well, while it's true some birds may find their home after flying a pretty far distance, you still can't consider them clever. It's more like a natural autopilot routine hardwired into their brain, without them realising what they're actually doing. That said, you can't expect doves to do things they aren't exactly created for. As an example, the dove you can see in the video really has no idea that standing on an F1 track is horribly dangerous, especially when an F1 Grand Prix (GP) is taking place. As a result, it had to play chicken with an F1 racer who happened to be approaching its direction. The F1 racer was revealed to be Brazilian Luiz Felipe de Oliveira Nasr. He was piloting a Dallara-Renault F1 car, racing for Carlin Motorsport. However, being stupid for standing on the racetrack in the first place, I must admit the bird has some great maneuverability. You see, it avoided being flattened by the racecar with a somehow adorable backflip, reminding me of those Kung-Fu moves you see in the movies. Fortunately, the bird survived, which is a good thing - and a miracle, too.
  2. [extract] Ferrari's Formula One competitor for the year 2000 is hitting the auction block. This particular racer is considered a symbol for the team's domination of the sport for nearly half the decade since Y2K (Also known as the Schumacher era). Coincidentally I
  3. One of the most iconic Ferrari models ever built will head for auction next month in Monaco. The Ferrari F40 prototype is only one of eight ever produced by Ferrari and is completely decked out in racing livery. It was the most powerful, fastest and advanced car of its time and made its first public appearance at the 1987 Frankfurt Motor Show marking Ferrari's 40th anniversary. Made out of carbon fiber, Kevlar and aluminum, the F40 packs a 2.9-litre twin-turbocharged V8 engine rated at 471hp good sprinting off to a 100km/h in 4.1 seconds and capable of reaching a top speed of 325km/h. This particular GT racing-spec model features weight-savings measures, bigger brakes, wider wheels and tires along with a power boost to about 600hp.
  4. Well, Monaco houses some of the biggest fortunes in the world. It is a synonim of high quality style, luxury and on the streets you can see some powerful and really expensive machines... Here is a video to prove it: http://www.autoviva.com/filipefmelo/...t&post_id=2548

  6. Fernando Alonso enjoyed a "morale booster" of a Monaco Grand Prix that culminated in another on-track furore involving Michael Schumacher. After starting from the pit lane following a crash in final practice that wrecked his Ferrari's chassis and prevented him taking part in qualifying, Alonso finished a remarkable sixth. That was due to a stunning strategy that saw him pit at the end of lap one following the first of four safety car periods, in this case a 180mph shunt in the tunnel involving Williams' Nico Hulkenberg. The Spaniard then produced four stunning overtaking manoeuvres out of the tunnel and into the chicane on Lotus' Heikki Kovalainen and Jarno Trulli, as well as Virgin Racing duo Bruno Senna and Lucas di Grassi. But then at the final corner of the last lap, Alonso appeared to have fallen asleep and given up sixth as Schumacher passed him on the inside after the safety car had ended its fourth outing. However, the race stewards, including 1996 world champion Damon Hill, declared Schumacher's move illegal and added 20 seconds to the 41-year-old's time, dropping him from sixth to 12th. Mercedes are appealing and the original result may yet stand, but a happy Alonso said: "This result is a morale booster. "To start from the pit lane and finish sixth is way more than we could have expected. "Although it was a difficult Sunday for me, much of the credit for the result goes to the team. "After working hard to re-build the car for the race, they chose an aggressive strategy, and to finish it without problems is the result of a super job." Alonso maintains he was told by the team there would be no overtaking once the final safety car returned to the pits as he had considered a move on Lewis Hamilton, who was fifth in his McLaren. But Schumacher insists his team informed him he could race, a view endorsed by team principal Ross Brawn and has resulted in an appeal. "We believed the track had gone green and the race was not finishing under a safety car when the regulations would have applied," said Brawn. "The reason for the safety car had been removed. The FIA announced 'safety car in this lap' early on lap 78, and the track had been declared clear by race control. "This was further endorsed when the marshals showed green flags and lights after safety car line one (in front of the entrance to the garages). "On previous occasions when it has been necessary to complete a race under a safety car full course yellows are maintained, as in Melbourne last year. "On the last lap, we therefore advised our drivers they should race to the line and Michael made his move on Fernando for sixth place." It was four years ago in Monaco that Schumacher was demoted to the back of the grid after feigning an accident in qualifying, in doing so blocking Alonso from claiming pole position.

  8. Damon Hill will be the fourth steward at this weekend's Monaco grand prix. We reported last month that, amid FIA president Jean Todt's new initiative to have well-known and experienced former drivers sitting alongside the three regular stewards at each race in 2010, Hill would preside at prestigious Monaco. The 1996 world champion never won at Monaco, but his father Graham Hill won the blue-ribant event no fewer than five times in the 60s, earning the nickname 'Mr Monaco'. Hill, 49 and currently president of the Silverstone-owning British Racing Drivers' Club, said earlier this year that his past squabbles with Michael Schumacher would not impede his ability to act impartially as a steward. "The people have to make decisions based on the analysis of right and wrong, irrespective of who those people might be," he said. "I think I'm sufficiently distanced from it." Source: GMM
  9. Fernando Alonso has refused to echo the McLaren drivers' claims that traffic is set to make Monaco a "disaster" and "nightmare" this weekend. With four more cars than in 2009 on the grid this season, and six very uncompetitive runners, it is feared that congestion around the famous barrier-lined 3.3 kilometre street layout will be potentially dangerous. David Coulthard wrote in his latest column for the Telegraph that it is a "serious issue", with the slow cars potentially posing "a risk both to themselves and others". But Alonso said on Tuesday that traffic was "already a problem when we had 20 cars on track". The Spaniard wrote on his Ferrari blog that "we must try and look at this situation as an extra challenge, both for us drivers ... and for the engineers, who will have to work out just the right moment to send us out on track in qualifying". McLaren boss and FOTA chairman Martin Whitmarsh said he advocated splitting the initial Q1 qualifying phase into two parts, but that proposal was voted down in Barcelona last weekend. He predicts a "very difficult" weekend for all. "It has always been difficult but with more cars and a greater performance differential, I think there will be controversy," the Briton told reporters during a teleconference on Tuesday. Source: GMM
  10. Higher kerbs have been installed at key sections of the Monaco circuit ahead of this week's formula one race. Last year, race director Charlie Whiting warned the drivers about cutting the kerbs and installed observers at the Nouvelle and Swimming Pool chicanes. It is at those corners that new "higher elements have been added behind the existing kerbs" for the 2010 event, the governing body confirmed on Tuesday. F1 photographer Mark Sutton inspected the new kerbs on Tuesday and remarked on Twitter that the drivers will "not want to touch them!" Sutton was also disappointed to find new debris fencing at the Rascasse corner, recalling that in previous years "you could just lean over the barrier and shoot as the driver went past at speed". The Monaco circuit has also been resurfaced in the pitlane, from Ste Devote all the way up the hill, from Place du Casino to the tunnel entry, and from the tunnel exit to the chicane. Source: GMM
  11. it is always claim that this is the season's most prestigious race in F1 personally i'm not too convinced.. prestigious to me have to means that it will have great close racing on the track, and not so much abt parties and celebrities... then again, F1 is a sports on Sat during Qualifying, and Sunday during races any other days/ time it is pure business Monaco F1 weekend gives teams the 'perfect' platform to entice potential sponsors and woo the current ones to dig deeper into their pockets... having said all these, Monaco is not all boring the one hour qualifying will be highly charged everyone wants to be as front as possible, that's where one can dictate pace on the narrow street circuit. the braves will drive down the road only a few centimeters from the barriers they will ride the curbs and bounced off them a slight mistake is likely to result in a DNF who will be the usual suspects for a race win? the 2 Brawns are definitely in it... but watch out for the Ferrari and McLaren. the silver arrows seems to have a nick of setting the car spot on in Monte Carlo local time: THU Practice 1 16:00 THU Practice 2 20:00 FRI parties!!! SAT Practice 17:00 SAT Qualifying 20:00 SUN Race 20:00

    Monaco GP

Welcome to Monaco! Home of the Monaco F1 GP! DarkLord will update you all on the latest news and results! Here are the latest news on the practice rounds of this weekend's race! SCHUMACHER LEADS EARLY MONACO TIMES Ferrari's Michael Schumacher fired an early warning to his rivals when he clocked the fastest time in free practice for the Monaco Grand Prix on Sunday. The German, bidding for a sixth successive victory and a record-equalling sixth Monaco win, went fastest in the morning session before regaining the lead with seven minutes left in the afternoon. "We worked well throughout the day, improving the car all the time," Schumacher said. "I think qualifying here will be very close so, although this is a positive sign, I don't think today means so much and we will only see the real picture on Saturday." The Honda-powered BARs went quick all day, with test driver Anthony Davidson eventually filling second spot. Davidson again showed up well and he even beat Schumacher's Ferrari team-mate Rubens Barrichello, denying the Italian team a one-two. Barrichello was third, with Renault's Jarno Trulli fourth and Kimi Raikkonen an impressive fifth for struggling McLaren. Jenson Button took his BAR to sixth place while Scotsman David Coulthard was 11th for McLaren. The morning session was interrupted for six minutes when Jaguar's Mark Webber hurriedly pulled over between the new chicane and Tabac corner, gesticulating to marshals to extinguish an engine fire. The car had to lifted off the track by crane before practice could continue. "The team are working flat out to repair the car and at this stage the engine appears to be okay," said Webber. "However until I get back out on track and actually put some miles on the car we won't really know." And there was more misery to follow for the team when Bjorn Wirdheim lasted just five minutes before damaging his rear suspension after clouting a wall, before Christian Klein slammed into barriers late in the day to leave Jaguar with three cars to repair.
