  1. With its decades of experience working with high-end supercars, Hong Seh Motors brings its Authorised Dealer level of service to you at a reasonable cost. There are thousands of car workshops in Singapore - some aim to offer the lowest prices, some specialise on body work, and some tackle complicated repairs. Spoilt by so many choices, how then do you know which workshop to entrust your car to? For most owners of new cars, it isn't difficult - the Authorised Dealers will handle it. But what if your car runs out of warranty and complimentary servicing packages, and you still want that top-tier service standard without paying through your nose? With Hong Seh Motors, that is exactly what you will get. Decades of experience as a supercar Authorised Dealer - Hong Seh Motors Unlike your typical workshops, Hong Seh Motors was the former authorised dealer of Ferrari and Maserati cars in Singapore that has decades of experience in the industry - it clinched the Ferrari distributorship here back in 1983. There are plenty of differences between an authorised dealer workshop and a typical workshop, and it all lies in the facility, equipment, skill level of technicians and the level of service that you’ll receive. Due to the close working relationship between authorised dealers and car manufacturers, they are held to a certain standard. In fact, it is common practice for the technicians and mechanics to receive training from the manufacturer before they are certified to work on the cars. And you can just imagine how stringent the training would be when it comes to supercar manufacturers. Skilled technicians aside, authorised dealers are also required to be equipped with quality equipment and tools. As an ex-authorised dealer workshop that works on supercars, Hong Seh has invested in top-of-the-line equipment to ensure the best quality work possible. It recently invested $2 million on its workshop and equipment to ensure top-tier work on its client’s cars. Among its equipment is a chassis alignment measuring robotic arm and jig from Carbench, making it the only bodyshop in Singapore to be authorised by Carbench. Carbench is an Italian brand that produces equipment that are used by manufacturers such as Maserati, Jaguar, Ferrari, Porsche and Tesla. Hong Seh also has an environmentally friendly paint shop, which includes an electric paint booth from Saima, and uses PPG water-based paint - its paint shop is authorised by PPG (the same brand of paint that Ferrari uses). With these equipment, Hong Seh is a workshop that is capable of complete refurbishment of cars to a standard expected of an authorised dealer. Not just supercars - Hong Seh Motors has the capabilities to work on all cars including EVs With Hong Seh Motors’ experience working on supercars, there’s no job too big or intricate for the team to resolve. Hong Seh Motors Service Centre is a one-stop shop that can work on anything from a simple routine servicing, pre-purchase inspections, to wheel alignments, engine overhauls, body repairs, paintwork, accident claims, tyre replacement and even a full classic car restoration. Its team consists of mechanics who have been working with the company for over 20 years. On top of the rich experience that its team has, Hong Seh Motors has also kept up with the times and is fully capable of working on EVs. The team is IMI trained to work on EVs, and is equipped with the necessary tools for working on high-voltage systems. As such, it is able to work on the high-voltage EV systems, including diagnosis and repairs of EV batteries. As Hong Seh Motors also has its own car leasing department, it has been working on cars of all makes and model. Hence, no matter what car you drive, you can be rest assured that Hong Seh would be able to resolve your issue. Reasonably priced services with top-tier workmanship Getting skilled mechanics to work on your car with quality equipment and parts might sound expensive, but it isn’t the case here. Hong Seh Motors insists on two main things: it always emphasises on quality, no matter how small the job is, or how tough it could be, and it promises to provide an authorised dealer level of service at a reasonable price. Yet another perk of going to a workshop that adopts an authorised dealer’s approach would be its clear and transparent processes - with everything properly explained to you, there’s no worries of hidden charges or any shock when you get your bill. Hong Seh Motors is located at 10 Fourth Lok Yang Road, Singapore 629707. It is open on Mondays to Fridays, from 8:15am to 6:00pm. Staying or working in the West? Hong Seh is a top contender to consider for your automotive needs. You can find out more and book an appointment with Hong Seh Motors at its website.

  6. Hi Bros, I have a hypothetical question and it goes like this. Usually after servicing my car at a certain workshop, the mechanic would take the car for a test drive to see if there are any problems with the car after servicing. So what happens if: 1) During test drive, something else breaks down after servicing? (eg. radiator pipe burst, suspension noise starts to appear, tyre kenna nail puncture, etc.) 2) During test drive, the mechanic met with an accident with my car and my insurance doesn't cover him? Who is gonna pay for the damages? Appreciate your valuable advice/comments. Thanks.
  7. Hi all, Does anyone know of any schools or institutes which offers courses in how to service motor vehicles or cars? For now only one I know about is ITE, the course is a little brief. Would welcome some suggestions from all, thanks! Cheers!

  9. bloody hell! Made an appointment yesterday morning to change EO at AV. Took 2 hours and not cheap compared to my previous WS. $100 for some unknown brand of oil + workmanship. Told him car boot lock cannot open with car key but in the end he could not fix it saying I have to look for a locksmith!!? This morning just discovered he swap my car mats and gave me 4 old raggedy ones with one having a big hole size of a fist. KNN! Champion liao lor. (<-- hint for you to avoid) Now I don't know whether he did change my EO at all and what he put in. Going back to my regular WS next week to redo the EO.
  10. Just curious abt this. In local workshops, usually the mechanic is malaysian, so I wonder how much is their pay.. E.g. for 20min to 30min of mechanic's time to change engine oil, labour charge abt $20 to $30. For 45min to 1 hr job to change suspension, workshop charge abt $80. So based on this, the mechanic can earn the workshop abt $60-$80 per hour. If workshop business is good, do non-stop, 8 hours day = $480 to $640 a day. So I wonder how much of this is to pay for workshop overheads, e.g. rental, utilities, and how much is mechanic's pay... I guess it is quite low, given the strong S$... maybe like $10 to S$20 per hour for mechanic? Mechanic pay abt S$100 a day? S$2-3k a month? Up for discussion here. And pls give amount in S$ not RM ok...

  13. 1. Oil light came on. Check engine oil level and the engine oil level is OK. So not due to oil running low. 2, Oil light came on and persist. So took car to a workshop in Ubi for repair. 3. Mechanic jacked up car ....found oil sump leaking....gasket failed. So need to remove oil sump for new gasket and sealant. And need to change oil pressure switch. So left car at the workshop for repair, includes Engine Oil change service and to collect in the evening. Boss of workshop sms later: Hi Sir, tis is from the Workshop. Our man is checking through the car during servicing n find your clutch wearing out soon. Based on the wear rate, the vehicle milage should be approximately 140-150K. THe clutch pedal is giving quite a bit of squeaking sound as a result. Would U like to replace it? Thks. Is it possible to see the clutch disc or plate worn out through the oil sump removal and through the Flywheel?

  17. A mechanic was removing a cylinder-head from the motor of a Harley motorcycle when he spotted a well-known cardiologist in his shop. The cardiologist was there waiting for the service manager to come and take a look at his bike when the mechanic shouted across the Garage, 'Hey Doc, want to take a look at this?' The cardiologist, a bit surprised, walked over to where the mechanic was working on the motorcycle. The mechanic straightened up, wiped his hands on a rag and asked, "So Doc, look at this engine. I open its heart, take the valves out, repair any damage, and then put them back in, and when I finish, it works just like new. So how come I make $39,675 a year and you get the really bigbucks ($1,695,759) when you and I are doing basically the same work ?" The cardiologist paused, smiled and leaned over, then whispered to the mechanic... "Try doing it with the engine still running."

  22. I would like to find out from you guys. Do you insist that your mechanic must issue you official receipts after each repair? Among the few ws I visited, only Lee Sheng and CAS issue proper receipts for each service/repair. Do you dare to visit ws which doesn't issue proper receipts?
