The Fair Consideration Framework was introduced in August 2014 on the back of a slowdown in the inflow of foreign workers after Singaporeans voiced unhappiness about them taking away good-paying professional, managerial and executive (PME) jobs from locals. Under the rules then, companies with more than 25 employees must advertise professional, managerial and executive posts that pay less than $12,000 a month. The advertisements need to run for at least 14 days before the firms can apply to the Ministry of Manpower for an Employment Pass (EP) for a foreigner. The framework was last updated in July 2018 to cover firms with more than 10 employees and jobs that pay less than $15,000 a month. Under the framework, firms found to be favouring foreigners in hiring are placed on an MOM watchlist and their applications for EPs are scrutinised more closely. Since 2016, the ministry has placed about 600 firms on the watchlist. A total of 2,300 EP applications have been rejected or withheld by MOM, or withdrawn by employers. Some 260 firms were taken off the watchlist after their hiring practices improved. I used to think that location and freehold are some of the more impt factors that increase the value of a condo. But now after seeing such high prices for some 99 year old condos in OCR makes me wonder what makes a condo valuable. Furthermore these condos are not exactly very near MRT. Could it be age? New condos always more expensive than older ones (even 2 year old). Like cars? What estates in OCR are expensive? I certainly wouldnt want to stay in areas like Eunos, Geylang or Bedok.

Just now on my way home. Balestier road kind of jam. I want to filter into the right lane from another junction, as later I need to turn into Whampoa market at the junction. But the right lane already jam until I am not able to filter in, so I was at the center lane. I am sure some might think I jump queue but I stay there leh :( Later reach near traffic light and it's red light. All car stop and I am lucky I am infront of the yellow box. I wave to the van driver I want filter in and he wave at me say "OK" so I turn in slowly . As green light, I filtered into the right lane until He can see me, I wave thank you to him follow by my back wiper. Like dog happy wave it's tail lol Then the van also wave his wiper once at me. Somehow It's feels good and makes me very happy. There are good people out on the road also. It's just that we need to practice it. The van by letting me filter in, it's just a few second thing. I don't have to hog the center lane waiting to filter into right lane. It smooth out the traffic. Even it's just a small thing, I appreciate the van driver's courtesy and also hope more brother here can put down their "ego" and make the road a good driving experience. MALAYSIA - He drove to Malaysia, looking forward to an enjoyable fishing trip with his friends. But his plans fell through when someone stole his Volkswagen GTI right in front of his eyes outside a Johor Baru 7-Eleven convenience store. The car owner, Singaporean Lee Chee Peng, 41, and his two friends were following their usual routine. The contractor told The New Paper on Tuesday: "We go fishing there about once every two months." After eating, they would visit the nearby 7-Eleven convenience store to get refreshments for their trip. It was no exception this time. They parked their cars side by side facing the store at about 4.45am on Sunday. After buying their drinks and loading them into the icebox, they got ready to drive off. First sign of trouble It was then that Mr Lee realised he had trouble starting his car. He said: "I realised that the battery was flat. I was thinking, 'This is disastrous, my trip is over'. When he told his friend, Mr David Poh, 45, a fellow contractor, about his predicament, Mr Poh brought out jumper cables from his boot. ] The two men lifted their car bonnets and tried jump starting Mr Lee's car. Meanwhile, their other friend went to the toilet. As Mr Lee and Mr Poh were trying to get the Volkswagen's engine to start, Mr Lee noticed a Toyota Alphard driving into the empty parking lot to the right of his vehicle. He said: "There were two men inside. The driver looked to be in his 40s, and the passenger, in his 30s." Mr Lee didn't take much notice of them and continued cranking his car. "It was really a sinking feeling, watching your car pull away until you can't even see the tail lights." After about 10 minutes, Mr Lee and Mr Poh headed back to the 7-Eleven to meet their puzzled friend, who had missed the whole incident. Mr Lee then made a police report at Johor Baru Central before returning to Singapore and making another report at a neighbourhood police station.
