  1. hey guys, i'm planning to change the rims of my ride probably at the start of next year. currently the rims are quite heavy. requires a fair amount of strength to lift. my question is, are lighter rims good for fc etc or are there other factors to consider? driving a forte here.
  2. Riding on the success of its first hot hatch, Hyundai seems like it is working on a lighter and faster version of its i30 N. Could the car spied here be AWD variant too? As reported by Carscoops, the car shot at the Green Hell features parts you won’t find on the standard i30 N. Check out the new simple-spoked wheels, new lip spoiler and the new side skirts which have been fitted. Also the rear has been fitted with new bumpers and diffusers. While details are sketchy for now, it is stated in the article that the lightened Hyundai i30 N won’t have any more power than the standard model but that isn't really an issue as we have driven one and power isn't something it needs urgently. That said, the company might also be working on a version with more power and has admitted to an all-wheel drive drivetrain for the car and could add slightly more power to it. There is also news that a dual-clutch variant of the i30 N will soon be released.
  3. Bought the above charger from Giant yesterday evening. This morning, plugged into the cigarette lighter socket, on the engine, then proceeded to plug in video cam usb and mobile phone usb (mobile phone not connected at the other end yet). The cigarette socket is still free. Within 5 sec, heard a slight piak and a little smoke emitted from one of the usb. Knn, burnt liao. Cost about $14 down the drain. Thought I found the charger with my desired config (2 USB + one cigarette lighter socket), now I am back to square one. This type of thing dunno can get refund from Giant or not.
  4. My car cigarette lighter socket is not working. There is no electricity when i plug in my electronics. What could have caused this? Is it due to the fuse and if yes, how much will it caused to change the fuse. Also, any other possible reasons as to why the car cigarette lighter socket is not working?
  5. As topic. This morning found out that my car battery is totally flat. Can't even unlock door using remote. My batt is more than 2 yrs but the cranking sounded normal when i last drove it. i normally leave the car camera plugged into the lighter socket, could this be a reason why the batt is totally drained? Or could it be the alternater issue?
  6. son meh??? i thot lovers like PORKER and 20G? No meh? then mother who? Cat woman??? SMLJ Batman to lose son Robin Posted: 27 February 2013 0843 hrs Click to enlarge Photos 1 of 1 A giant image of Batman at the Books and press for Youth fairin Montreuil, outside Paris, France. (AFP/FRANCOIS GUILLOT) inShare NEW YORK: Batman may be able to save the world, but he'll lose his sidekick Robin -- who in his current incarnation as his son -- in the upcoming Batman Incorporated comic book series. DC Comics said the caped crusader's acrobatic young assistant, Batman alter ego Bruce Wayne's son Damian, will die in Wednesday's issue number eight. "This master theme of damaged and ruined families was nowhere more in evidence than in the creation of Damian, the first 'Son of Batman' to be acknowledged in the canon," series writer Grant Morrison said in a statement. "In many ways this has been Damian's story as much as it has been the story of Bruce Wayne and it's a story that had its end planned a long time ago -- for what son could ever hope to replace a father like Batman, who never dies?" The good news for those who might miss Robin is that this is the comics universe and characters who are killed can easily return. Even a previous incarnation of Robin was killed and resurrected before. "You can never say never in a comic book," Morrison told the New York Post. "Batman will ultimately always have a partner." this part best, so his next partner will be like turboflat4 and porker, 20G...died
  7. http://www.mycarforum.com/index.php?autoco...mp;product=1308 Or http://www.mycarforum.com/index.php?autoco...p;product=32656 Not sure what is the weight diff. I guess these 2 rims are the lightest in the budget level.
  8. today suppose to go n change tires, check with most shops dun have stock for 18" Dunlop SportMaxx TT, then happen that LS has stock so hosey leow, somemore good price so go down there to change. when changing the tires, they told me 1 of the rims inside slightly warped, so boh pian, from change tires to change rims + tires. in the end got a new set of 19" staggered breyton wheels with c5p. suddenly wallet became much lighter
  9. Hi guys, need some help here. My uncle commented that his friends are all raving about this device, when plugged into the cigarette lighter, makes the car smoother/more powerful and saves fuel too. sells about $200++ I'm guessing it's some kind of voltage stabilizer but I thought that usually goes next to the car battery in the engine compartment.... anybody has any clue? thanx in advance
  10. Hi Guys, I have a question on the usage of the cigarette socket splitter. First off, a bad experience: I once bought a 3 Normal Split socket type like the one shown below, plugged phone chargers into it and it worked but when I plugged in a heavy duty vacume cleaner, it totally burn out. Think its the voltage thing. I am a noob at such stuff. So had to buy another one. This time round I purchased another which is slightly different, comes with a Cigarette socket and 3 Normal sockets similar to the image below First question: To play safe these days, I would just unplug the spliter sockets and use the original car cigarette socket when I use my vacume cleaner, its once in a while so no big deal. But I wonder if I am just too paranoid. And given that my new splitter actuall is a 1 cigarette + 3 normal socket, I was wondering if I could plug the vacume into the 1 cigarette socket without burning it out again. Does such spliter actually split the voltage even when other sockets are not in use? Second question: Given the new one I have which is 1 Cigarette + 3 normal socket, can I plug the Griffin Power Jolt Dual for Ipad (click for details) into the Cigarette socket while having my phone charger in the normal sockets all at the same time? I thrown away the packaging of the new spliter so I have no idea how many volts is each socket getting. Please let me know if you are using a similar product in a similar manner. Would appreciate the experiences shared. Thanks
  11. 7th May incidents, some serious, some light.......... I am not sure this is classified 'serious' or 'light'....... please help me decide, and share your experience or what you see... about 720am on 7th, me and my family members (those who are required to vote) took a 20mins stroll to the polling station.... we planned to be early birds (hey, maybe got small prize of free drinks for E Birds?!) and get it done with and go for a relak breakfast at the kopitiam. lo and behold, by the time we reached the school gate (polling station), a short queue was already formed (KNN, why some ppl must be more kiasu than us?) nevermind, queue lor..... while queueing, an bearded Indian walked past, half chanting half murmuring "XXX, XXX....".......... i gave him my mid finger but he was too engrossed with himself to notice.... still got 15mins+ to go, so i started to count..... not bad, i was #18 in the queue... HUAT AHH!!! so far so good, nothing really worth mentioning.... fast forward: it's 8am........ the voting started.... all went well, as I was registering and my name / face being checked, i turned around and had eye contacts with the nearby ZZZ party polling agent........ i quickly showed him thumb up..... i went to the booth, but forgot to check if there were any hidden cameras recording from above what I crossed.... the booth was not really that 'private'... in 3 mins, all was done........... i walked with my family members towards the kopitiam, by then sibei bud tor yiao liao...... while eating prata and drinking kopi-0, we chatted.... what i found out thru the chats really made me happy.... why?? for years, one family member is a die hard ____ supporkter, since i know she wont change her mind no matter what, i gave up explaining to her what the alternative means both long and short term..... ie i have given up on her... this time I presumed she voted the same, then i popped the question: did you cross neatly within the box and not all over the place? (she's known to be messy with her pen...) she said "Crossed?? ............ i just ticked the same as last GE, to show my loyalty....." whahahhahahaha ............. ........ ...... i didnt have to convince her, she 'volunteered' to void her vote and there went one vote for her party.... her loss is my gain ............... thank you, thank you............
  12. Where do I buy a car cigarette lighter socket in Singapore? I bought a Honda City but I only notice it did not come with a cigaretter lighter socket after I try to light up a cig . ( I thought this item is part of the standard item in a car)
  13. http://news.discovery.com/tech/print-body-armor.html It sure sounds cool that our cars in the future may be organic in material rather than traditional steel.....
  14. Has anyone here got workshop to relocate the cigarette lighter position to somewhere near the top of the front windscreen? It seems the logical thing to do to remove unsightly cables to the GPS, video camera etc. Let me know of any lobang that does this. Thanks
  15. Hi sexys, do anyone here knows where to top up the gas for the ST DUPONT lighter? Thanks! XOXO, Rochelle.
  16. Hi bros, Just want to find out whether this is true: My mobile phone holder has a power cable connected to it directly. This cable gets its power from the lighter socket. I have come across reading that when parking overnight, don't leave the power cable in the lighter socket as it will continue to drain battery life of the car. Is this really true?
  17. Hi all, Anyone using such an item shown in the image below? I know some cars only come with one. I have also read that some people actually modify it to have 3. But I am quite reluctant to do any form of modification. So was searching for alternatives and came about such ciggy lighter splitter. Not sure if they are safe for usage and wondering if anyone is using such items in their cars. Thanks
  18. Is there anyone using such a device? What are the cons of using it, if any? I am thinking of getting one as both my GPS and soon-to-be in-car video recorder get charged through the cigarette lighter socket. Thanks in advance.
  19. is the above statement correct? Assuming the brake and the rims are the same sizes.
  20. anyone using this? thought of getting one cos my cd player cant read my disc.. very boring always listening to radio.. hows the sound quality? any advice? http://sg.auctions.yahoo.com/sg/i:Wireless...emote:264282886
  21. Hi Bros, Realised that my ride's (Octavia A5)Cigarette lighter socket's current will not be cut-off after I cut the engine (unlike my prev Honda). Was wondering if it will be on continously or will be cut off automatically after x minutes.. If its on permanently, anyway to make it cutoff cos I'm worried if I forgot to unplug my devices.. it may drain the car batt. Off-topic: Anyone interested in Garmin Nuvi 310.. check out my classified ad http://www.mycarforum.com/classifieds/classifieds.pl?id=7707
  22. Hi folks, Would appreciate advice from anyone who has had experience with any DAB - Mobile Receiver powered via cigarette lighter socket - any recommendations? Thanks! I went to varius places - only mobile devices I could find are those that are powered by 6 volts of power. Our cars are supplying 12v, understand that can only step down to 9v minimum. Anyone has a solution? Or any recommendations.
