I think we need more effort in stopping Dengue. The more I think about it, the more I think we over-reacted for Covid. 12 people died from Dengue, 24 people died from Covid. Are we going to throw 50 billion for stopping Dengue??? Because I live in a red cluster, I have narrowed my jogging range to avoid getting bitten on my morning jog. https://www.channelnewsasia.com/news/singapore/dengue-cases-this-year-could-surpass-2013-peak-12800008

heard 10 died in 9 days, seem like climbing the Mount Everest is not difficult after all. At least seven other climbers have died on other 8,000-metre Himalayan peaks this season, while two are missing.

US daredevil dies in Yosemite jumping accident https://sg.news.yahoo.com/us-daredevil-potter-dies-jumping-accident-083834489.html A world-renowned extreme athlete died along with another man during a stunt at the Yosemite National Park in California, US media said Sunday. Tributes poured in from all over the globe for Dean Potter, 43, following his death on Saturday. He and fellow BASE jumper Graham Hunt, 29, were killed during a jump at Taft Point, ABC News said, citing Yosemite National Park spokesman Scott Gediman. Reports filtered through to park officials on Saturday of an accident and a helicopter spotted the two bodies on Sunday. When Rangers got to them about noon, they were identified as Potter and Hunt, Gediman said. Other media said the pair had been attempting a wingsuit flight from Taft Point but smashed into a rocky outcrop when they tried to fly through a narrow gap in the mountains. On Potter's official Facebook page -- where he describes himself as "artist, adventurer, athlete" -- extreme sports enthusiasts from all over the world paid tribute to the man admired for his fearlessness and incredible courage. His last Facebook post, on May 12, shows a picture of his dog in a mountainous landscape and the caption: "Miss Whisper. Yosemite Dog." In an interview with The New York Times in 2008, Potter said: "Part of me says it's kind of crazy to think you can fly your human body. "Another part of me thinks all of us have had the dream that we can fly. Why not chase after it? Maybe it brings you to some other tangent. Chasing after the unattainable is the fun part." BASE stands for buildings, antennas, spans and Earth that jumpers can parachute from. It is illegal in US national parks.

That's d way Mr PM. Sincerely hope u can accomplish that in 5 years. NEWS May 9, 2011 Government's priority is to improve citizens' lives: PM GIVEN the external international environment, Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong said that the overriding priority for his government is to 'improve the life for our citizens.' Mr Lee was speaking at the 30th anniversary conference of the Government of Singapore Investment Corporation (GIC) at the Shangri-La Hotel on Monday. To achieve this, Mr Lee said Singapore must first grow the economy by staying plugged into the world by attracting investments and talent, encourage local enterprises to diversify, expand and move abroad, among other things. Mr Lee added that it is also the government's objective 'to raise income across the board', including the 'the middle income households and those at the lower end' by upgrading productivity through re-training and education of workers, and restructuring Singapore's industries. Other ways to grow the Singapore economy include buffering it against volatility by accumulating adequate reserves and maintaining political support for policies which benefit Singaporeans. Mr Lee acknowledged in his speech that it is not easy for Singaporeans to cope with rapid changes, even when the overall standards of living are rising and that his 'newly elected PAP government has its work cut out for it.'

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration is now estimating that 89 deaths may be attributable to unintended acceleration in Toyota vehicles here in the United States between the year 2000 and May of 2009. Previously, it was reported that 52 deaths were possibly related to the throttle defect. This figure has been extrapolated from NHTSA's database of the roughly 6,200 complaints it has received over that same time period. In addition to the 89 deaths, 57 injuries have also been tallied. Toyota reminds us that these figures are estimates, saying in a statement: Many complaints in the NHTSA database, for any manufacturer, lack sufficient detail that could help identify the cause of an accident. We will continue to work in close partnership with law enforcement agencies and federal regulators with jurisdiction over accident scenes whenever requested. According to Toyota, some 1.67 million sticky accelerator pedals and 1.62 million floor mats have so far been fixed under recall, with roughly 120,000 being performed per week on average. NTU prof says there's no truth to online accusations 'He wanted to give POOR GRADE' 'HE HAD SEX RELATIONSHIP WITH STUDENT' 'He did this...' 'He attacked student...' HE IS the victim. By Crystal Chan 20 March 2009 HE IS the victim. Yet, in a cruel twist, he has become victimised by vicious talk on the Internet. Associate Professor Chan Kap Luk has had to endure not only the physical trauma of being stabbed by his student, but emotional hurt from speculation over his character and sexual inclination. Some netizens have suggested on forums like SgForums.com and blogs that Prof Chan was attacked because he wanted to give his assailant, Mr David Hartanto Mr Widjaja, 21, a poor grade for his final-year project. Some netizens even went as far as to imply that Mr Widjaja had a homosexual relationship with Prof Chan. Speaking exclusively to The New Paper, Prof Chan, who is married with two young children, was bewildered when told about such talk. He said over the telephone: 'My goodness, there's no such thing. Don't believe everything you read on the Internet, because people can write whatever they want.' He added: 'I never read these Internet forums because the postings can't be taken seriously - anyone can write anything.' The Nanyang Technological University don was supervising the project when Mr Widjaja stabbed him on the morning of 2 Mar, before jumping to his death. Prof Chan, 45, who teaches in NTU's School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, added that he hoped police investigations could be concluded soon to dispel vicious online notions. Was the stabbing over poor grades? 'That's not the purpose (giving poor grades) when I meet my (final-year project) students,' replied Prof Chan, laughing. 'The project supervisor's role is to help the students to do well and there was no exception with David.'We're not out to fail the students and that's why I'm laughing at the suggestion that I wanted to give David a poor grade. 'Ask any professor if they wish to help their students do well and their answers are the same.'The don was discharged from National University Hospital on 4 Mar and is on medical leave for a few weeks. He was initially reluctant to talk when The New Paper called, saying he was not ready to be interviewed. But as the conversation turned to the Internet postings, he opened up. Difficulties Prof Chan, who is also supervising the final-year projects of nine other students, said: 'I'm sure all students who go through the (projects) have the same experiences of meeting deadlines and coping with other modules. 'Difficulties may occur with the projects but that's what the professors are there for. 'Of course, the students must also have the right attitude towards their projects and tell us if they have problems.' Mr Widjaja had neglected his final-year project as other modules took up his time, his friends told the media. Prof Chan would not say if Mr Widjaja was slack with his project, which focused on using multiple cameras to obtain multiple views of a scene. 'If David had any problems with his project, he certainly didn't tell me. It's very sad he ended up like that.' He declined to talk more about the stabbing, saying he had given a police statement. Other Internet postings suggested that Prof Chan had attacked Mr Widjaja and that the knife was already in the office. To that, he said: 'I think some things should be left to the police and we should not take these matters into our hands. It's not appropriate for people to speculate about the incident when the police are still investigating. 'I really hope the investigations will be over soon so the truth can come out quickly.' In the meantime, some of Prof Chan's colleagues are helping to oversee the final-year projects that he was supervising. Prof Chan, who is also deputy director of NTU's Biomedical Research Centre, has been teaching in the university since June 1992. He got his bachelor's degree from the University of London in 1987, and got his PhD four years later from the same institution. Will he take action against netizens behind the vicious postings? 'I believe in freedom of speech so I won't take action or read what has been written on the Internet, though these are untrue. '...There are more important things for me to do than to counter the speculation of other people. 'I just hope that people will think before believing what has been written on the Internet and that people will be responsible for what they write.'

I do urges drivers to be cautions and mindful of their surrounding so that we are able to minimize such unfortunate indcidents to happen in the future. It really breaks my heart seeing them lying there like that and i hope that the death is painless for them...

I have recently come across loads of interesting blogs about sex...and they are all written (purportedly) by Singaporeans...and what's more, by women . Reading their blogs is like reading some kind of porn novel man! I'm curious to know if these are genuine or are they really manned by 40 something men with too much time on their hands? Anyone knows for sure?
