Hitch driver apparently needs an aeroplane to be on time

According to Stomp, this guy booked a GrabHitch ride in Choa Chu Kang on Friday afternoon. He scheduled the ride for 3.15pm, but the driver sent a message to ask if it will be ok for him to arrive at 3.25pm. The passenger then asked if the driver could reach by 3.15pm instead but received a snide reply: "I drive car not aeroplane" The driver eventually cancelled the ride. It seems like the passenger is a little demanding. There are many variables that affect travel time on the road - there could have been traffic, the driver might also have been some distance away and hence required more time to reach. In such a situation, the best solution is to just wait - if you cancel this ride and book another, chances are he won't reach by 3.15 also mah. Understandably, GrabHitch is a carpooling service, where drivers who are going the same way, offers to pick up passengers for a small sum. As such, it is kind of an unwritten rule that one shouldn't expect to receive five-star chauffeur service. I think the most important takeaway from this incident is that communication is key. The driver could have replied nicely, and the passenger should have been more understanding and the whole thing wouldn't have been an issue. And hor, I also don't have an aeroplane, but I still can reach work (quite) on time leh. -
As most of us here drives, some may love the convenient of driving out far for good late night supper with your kakis. I share my one here. I believe they are nice. 1) Jalan Besar Food Centre aka Lavander Foodcourt. - the Kok Kee Wanton Mee (i hope no spelling error) and the BBQ wings which is diagonally opposite. 2) Boon Lay Market - Power Nasi Lemak. Used to be very nice. Nowadays, the standard like dropped. But.. still nice! 3) Bukit Timah - Al-Ameen and Al-Azfar (i hope no spelling error) 4) Thomson - Thomson Prata. 5) Bedok 85 - The 2 Bak Chor Mee stall. Anyone want to contribute? Please contribute real nice food

The set includes a S$50 polymer note and five S$10 polymer notes. The notes’ designs drew inspiration from significant milestones and achievements in Singapore's history, the multiracialism that defines Singapore as a nation and the values and aspirations that underpin Singapore's progress. For example, the S$50 note highlights Singapore's history, transformation and future. It shows the late Mr Lee Kuan Yew shouting 'Merdeka!' - the rallying cry of Singapore's independence struggle. However, the current Prime Minister said: "Even as we reflect on our past we must also look to the future." Hence the addition of a note depicted Singapore's latest new town - Punggol - which he said symbolises the continuing renewal of our homes and communities. Mr Lee said this is Singapore's responsibility: To build on the legacy of our pioneers and carry on their vision to make Singapore our best home. The notes make use of the colour gold, reflecting Singapore's jubilee. Both the S$50 and S$10 notes have security features that are the first of their kind in the world to be used on a currency note. The security stripe in the S$50 note has a unique see-through feature with image movement effects that give depth to the image of Mr Lee Kuan Yew. The SG50 logo also has colour-switching effects, with the year flipping from 1965 to 2015. The notes were designed by four local artists and designers. The public can exchange the SG50 commemorative notes at face value at branches of nine major retail banks from Aug 20. They include DBS Bank/POSB, Oversea-Chinese Banking Corporation, United Overseas Bank, Citibank, Standard Chartered Bank, Bank of China, HSBC, Malayan Banking Berhad, Industrial and Commercial Bank of China. To ensure that everyone has an opportunity to exchange the SG50 commemorative notes, there will be a quota of five sets of notes per transaction per individual. BANKS EXTEND HOURS United Overseas Bank (UOB) and DBS said on Tuesday that they will be extending banking hours and setting up dedicated queues for the exchange of the commemorative notes. Both banks will also provide priority assistance for the elderly and those with special needs. UOB will deploy more customer service officers to help answer questions and to take orders from customers who are in queue. At some DBS/POSB outlets located near food and beverage outlets, note-exchangers will be offered complimentary beverages in the event that their wait is longer than expected, the bank said. Banking hours at all full-service DBS/POSB branches will be extended until 8pm on weekdays from Aug 20 for two weeks. For UOB, 26 branches located in heartland areas and key town centres will have their hours extended to 7pm on weekdays during the first week of the exchange period. UOB customers can also reserve their commemorative notes online at www.uob.com.sg/sg50notes from Aug 20 onwards and collect them later at a pre-determined branch of their choice, UOB added. - CNA/ek

Hi all.Need your inputs.The car that i had ordered in Aug is still delayed yet again.I signed in mid-Aug and was promised delivery in Nov.Just a few days back,the fella called to say delay again-this time around till late dec.How now?Car company said delay due to me wantin to change colour n shipment delay.Sequence of events as follows: Early Aug-viewed & test drive->told immediate delivery A week later-signed docs-told delivery in Nov 1-2 days later opt for a change of colour->no change in car delivery date-still nov 3rd week of nov-told about delay till end dec spoke to the manager instead of the fella who sold me the car and she said she can't do anything coz the shipment is late n car not physically here yet.she offered another colour to wic i didn't want coz no point i waited all this while and at the end of it i till dun hav the colour of my choice.wat crap rite? if you guys were me,wat wud u do?seriously need your inputs and tots...many thanks!

Usually if you make payment thru internet transfer/ AXS/ Cheque on the due date itself, will be be charge a late payment fee? I've done that so many years for other bank CC but have not been charge a late payment charges, but this #%#%$ OCBC charged me for late payment even if I make the payment on the due date itself. OCBC explanation was that even if I make payment on the due date, but the fund will take 2-3working days to reach the bank. Which means I have to make the payment few days before the due date. This is so stupid! Then y not they move forward the due date and cater that allowance time on their side instead of having the customer to calculate the time needed for the fund to reach the bank?? :angry:

Did search but unable to find any car battery shop that is open till late tonight. Can anyone help? Car battery flat now. Getting friend to help jump start, then plan to drive to tyre shop. Any near Bt Merah? Or anywhere also fine. Thks

hello bros.. any suggestions here for places with good food that are open after 10pm throughout the midnight in SG? can only think of geylang dim sum, you tiao da wang, frog porridge, beef horfan. maybe changi airport also.. but other than these.. any other suggestions?

Today after work on my way to fetch my wife, somewhere along PIE towards tuas just after BKE exit i heard a 'pop' sound and the car wobbled a bit..... then it's ok again. So i fetched her, using PIE / Clementi Ave 6 / AYE / Keppel Rd / ECP / Rochor Rd / Victoria St / Lanvender St and parked, then makan dinner / visit a fren.... 2.5 hours later I drove home but found the car couldnt go straight.... by the time i reached home 25mins later, the passenger side front tyre was flat, only left 45Nm of air pressure instead of the usual 230Nm.... So I drove to my usual late-opening tyre shop at Balestier Rd to patch it. For the past 20 years++, this is the shop which 'saved' me from getting stuck with a flat tyre many times. $10 per fix, maybe $12 after 10pm.... Any bro knows of other late night tyre shop in case we have an emergency and need to fix tyre after 7pm?

Ok......i also wana start one dumb ass car related true story also. My collegue recently ask me what will her male friend kena ? Offense : Failure to renew road tax and insurance coverage on time. Late for a solid 2 months until LTA call him up directly to ask why!!! Until that moment he still happily driving like normal. Follow closely by a registered letter to attend a court hearing in 2 weeks time. First time i heard of this kind of thing. Anybody knowns what will be the out come ? Will be invited to Changi Holiday Chalet or not har ?

Hi forumners, I was returning home from groceries shopping last weekend with many items, and I was at a roundabout near my house which I wanted to unload the stuff, but since the roundabout is one way, I temporarily parked my car at a handicapped lot while unloading. There was no loading/unloading bay in my area and there was another handicap lot nearby which was unused during the time of my 'offence'. After I have placed all the stuff at my home (about 15 mins later), I went down with my sis-in-law to shift the car to another nearby normal lot at the roundabout, but she just stood outside my car while I re-parked. All the while, both of us did not notice anything on my windscreen. It was only after my family and I went out for dinner, and I came back to use my car, that I noticed a summons slip of $50 on it. I suspected someone called in LTA. My question is, am I supposed to be fined even for a short while of parking there? And also, even after moving off, am I still 'liable' to be fined? Thanks all for any comments!

Does anyone knows any spray paint shop in the west (jurong) or north which opens till late (around 8pm)? No need high profile or super cheap pricing, as long as can get a decent paint job done quickly is good enough. Is the market average still about $200 to get a bumper repair and respray?

Penis tattoo causes permanent erection for man Wednesday, Jan 11, 2012 AsiaOne An Iranian man who had the bright idea of immortalising his girlfriend's name as a tattoo on his penis was left with more than a sore organ - he landed himself a permanent semi-erection. The case was first presented to doctors in the form of a partially rigid penis of a 3-month duration, with a tattoo covering its shaft and a smaller tattoo on the glans, said an article published in the latest issue of the Journal of Sexual Medicine. Upon examination, the patient admitted that the semi-erect organ had occurred soon after he had a tattoo of a Persian script reading "borow be salaamat" (translated to good luck on your journey) and the first initial of his girlfriend's last name ("M") inked onto his penis. Putting aside the question of why would anyone subject his penis to thousands of needle pricks, how could a tattoo result in a permanent erection? The answer, as MSNBC's The Body Odd reported, lies in the traditional tattooing technique the man subjected himself to. The man told doctors that a traditional tattooist created the tattoo manually using a handheld needle. In handheld needling, a needle is first used to perforate the skin. After which, henna, ash and other natural pigments are applied on the perforated skin surface. There is no control of the depth of the needle in handheld needling, Iranian urologists wrote in the article. Prolonged erection can make your penis fall off The doctors went on to say what likely happened was that the tattooist punctured overly deep holes that damaged blood vessels in the penis, resulting in a pseudoaneurysm - the pooling of blood outside a vessel wall. The man told doctors that the tattooing process was followed by deep penile tissue bleeding for several days, which complicated the tattooing. Soon after, the man began noticing his nighttime erections were lasting unusually long, MNBC reported. A week later, he realised he had a 24/7 semi-erection. Doctors recommended that he see a specialist to have the excess blood pooling in his organ removed, but he chose to have a shunt surgery instead. A shunt procedure drains excess fluid from the inflamed areas of the body. The procedure proved unsuccessful in curing the problem. However, as the man is not in pain and is still able to achieve a normal erection and have sex, he has refused further treatments. For those out there thinking that the penile tattooing didn't turn out so bad after all - with the man coming out of it with his manhood just looking "bigger all the time" (as one reader put it) - here's a word of caution: MSBC noted that non-sex related erections lasting longer than four hours are often dangerous for penises, as the lack of fresh blood flow can starve the penile tissues of oxygen. When a body part gets cut off from its supply of oxygen, the destruction of tissues can result in impotence. Worst case scenario is: the prgan can drop off. As it is, men are advised to follow the last note Iranian doctors wrote in the medical report: "Based on our unique case, we discourage penile tattooing."

FITNESS CLUB'S $3,000 LIFE MEMBERS Banned over late $8 fee Published on Sep 20, 2011 MY HUSBAND and I signed up for lifetime memberships with California Fitness in 2006 and we paid $3,000 each. We patronised the gym regularly until last year when we became irregular because of work commitments. When we tried to use the gym this year, we were told that our memberships had been revoked because we had not paid the annual administrative fee of $8 on time last year. Imagine our shock on learning that our combined membership value of $6,000 had been thrown out of the window because of late payment of a small administrative charge. When we signed up for the membership, the salesperson did inform us of the annual $8 administrative fee but did not give the remotest indication that our membership would be revoked without notice if we failed to pay it within a certain deadline. When we called California Fitness' head office here about it, a receptionist heard us out and promised to get back. After just 10 minutes, she telephoned to inform us that the fitness club's Hong Kong head office, which is authorised to make such decisions, had rejected our appeal. When we tried to reason with her, she brusquely replied that the decision was final and we could complain to the Consumers Association of Singapore (Case) if we were dissatisfied. We remain baffled. We were not apprised of the serious repercussions arising from late payment of the administrative fee when we signed up. Even if that were so, surely the gym should only require us to settle the fee before proceeding to use the facilities, which is a common practice in other establishments. What is the nature of a life membership like the one California Fitness sold us which pivots on the timely payment of an administrative charge of comparatively negligible value compared to the price of the life membership? I think the "tsunami will arrive in a few hours" (quote Mr Mah's analogy). So many highly-qualified people, from PHD to Masters degrees to BSC to successful corporate honchos have stepped forward to declare contest against PAP incumbents. Why is it so, at this coming election? Obviously, many have risen through the system, get a good headstart in life. Why then the risk? Something is seriuosly wrong with the system. These fine and bright people , if the system is so good and rewarding according to the PAP folks, are seeing something that we lesser mortal don't? My humble opinions are that: People are fed-up with the high-handedness of the ruling party. People are upset with the gerrymandering. People are very unhappy with the "you don't vote me, I dont upgrade your flat" threat. People are very unhappy with all the stupid reasons ala GST is to help the poor. People are very unhappy with the high cost of living (asking hawkers not to raise price when other big conglomerates suka suka raise price eg petrol companies). People are very unhappy with stupid reasons such as selling new flats at lower price equals to raiding the reserves. People are very unhappy with CPF's change of rules and shifting of withdrawal age and "locking of money" under CPF life. People are very unhappy squandering money on renaming Marina Bay and Budget Terminal when it was so difficult to increase the meagre amount to the poor. People are very unhappy with the caSINos People are very unhappy to be packed like sardines and the minister concerned show no sympathy People are very unhappy with limping MSK running away and the remark "what to do? It happened" People are very unhappy with PA, CC, and what not grassroots oprganisations being subsumed as part of PAP People are very unhappy when Zorro rubbished no minmum wage for workers but stamped a multi-million $ minimum wage for his colleagues. People are very unhappy with Khaw bactracking when he said something like "means testing was only an idea" but implemented straightaway after election. People are very unhappy that YOG ocverspent the budget under the same MInsiter who rejected calls to increase payment to the destitude (eat in hawker centre, food court or restaurant remark) People are very unhappy when hardo do Minister mocked our fairer sex to skip one hairdo to pay for mamogram screening. People are very unhappy when jobs and more jobs go to foreigners (and for that matter, foreigners should include PERMANENT RESIDENTS) People are very unhappy Minister Mah sproutingnonsense about HDB subsidy when he did not dare to divulge what is the actual cost of building a flat. People are very unhappy becasue we do not know what constitutes our reserves, who has oversight or how are they deployed. People are very unhappy when NS for Singaporeans, but high post and even potentialn MP posts for newly minted Singaporean. Many many more, but hands are tired from typing.....
