Hi All, This is the updated post as slight change of plans. We will be heading up to Phuket than Krabi max. Here is the tentative schedule. From Dec 20 2008 onwards. Come back by end year. Day 1 - Drive to KL, R&R, Lunch and abit of Shopping. Drive to Penang stay one night. Day 2 - Penang R&R, then set off to Hatyai. Reach Hatyai then head to Phuket. 3 Days 2 nights. Day 4 - Set off to Krabi, 4 Days 3 nights in Krabi. Day 7 - Set off to Hatyai, then Penang (or maybe can try Ipoh) Rest for 1 night Day 8 - Head to KL, Rest 1 night Day 9 - Head back Singapore ! The above is just a guideline, when all the participants are confirmed, we can meet up and discuss the above. Basically its about 8 - 10 days, some are joining only for half the time. If there are enough cars, I will approach AA Spore or Tourism Thailand for escort purpose or something. We can even hire security guard to guard cars at the resort. My thread in Road Trips was quite ignored, and poll doesn't really tell me a whole lot.. Anyway, my friend and I are driving my car up to thailand. it's part driving adventure, and part beach getaway. We may intend to scuba dive too between koh samui and krabi, which will be better? krabi is somewhat nearer but dun get to take the car ferry which would be quite an interesting experience. of course, going to krabi means saving on car ferry and petrol as well which is the nicer destination? i'm more for natural beauty than other things.

Hi Guys i intend to go krabi, but no idea which resort or hotels to stay. Any one care to share any good and reasonable place. Also how about any recommendation of whr to head down and try during the visit there. Thanks!

I had been to Phuket a nos of time and found that it is getting too commercialise This time round, I am planning for a short relax holiday (3-4days) to Krabi with my wife and childrens age ~10yrs old. I only know Krabi have nice beach. Any bros here have any recommendation for resort/hotel to stay (~$150/night), location should easy access to local food/seafood. What can I do on Krabi? All suggestion are weclome. Tks Tks

Travellers at the popular beach resorts have also been stranded. Planning a road trip with my buddy. Main objective is the driving adventure, but we might also wanna do a spot of diving . I haven't been to any of the above locations, so I better check with MCF gurus first. I checked out tarzan666's post as well as poortraveller's blog. good resources which I will use as references. Anyway, my trip is 5 days, intend to head up to penang, overnight there, then hit our destination on the second day evening. I'm guessing that i should only try to go for one destination. Both of us drive, so no issues, probably do 2 hour "watches" though i've done 5 hours a pop before.. Intending to cruise at 140-150, as my car can't really do much faster without complaining. not intending to book hotels online as i feel it's better to go there and look around and choose. we are probably going for 3-star range
