  1. Hawaii is the Only U.S. State That Commercially Grows CoffeeCoffee tends to grow better at equatorial climates, so you can't really grow coffee in the contiguous United States. Hawaii, however, has an optimal climate for harvesting java beans. Hawaii is known for their Kona coffee which is widely exported and popular around the world. As if people in Hawaii didn't have it good enough, they have some of the world's most beautiful beaches and some of the world's best coffee! Despite what most people think, an espresso has 1/3 the caffeine of a cup of coffee due to serving sizesConsider throwing a double- or triple-shot into your favorite beverage, because just one might not cut it for the more hardcore caffeine addicts. Or you could make a Red Eye- a shot of espresso inside a cup of coffee, or as we like to call it, beanception. Some people actually prefer drinking espresso to drip-coffee or French press for that very reason: you can actually control your own caffeine consumption. So if you're reaching for that late night cup of coffee, try an Americana with 1 shot instead of a whole cup of coffee, you'll sleep much sounder. Brazil is the world's biggest producer of coffee by a wide margin, followed by Vietnam and Colombia In fact, in 2011 Brazil produced nearly twice as much as Vietnam and Colombia combined and a third of all of the coffee produced in the entire world. This statistic has remained fairly constant for the last 150 years! Brazil is also one of the only countries on earth that grows both Arabica and Robusta beans. It should come as no surprise that Brazil is the number one exporter of coffee in the world, and coffee makes up a decent chunk of Brazil's whole economy. It would take around 100 cups of coffee for a lethal dose of caffeineUnimaginable. We get the jitters after just two or three cups, so what would cup 90 feel like? Would we be able to fly and fight crime? Probably not, and we definitely don't recommend trying it out! Most cases of coffee overdose do not come from conventional coffee drinking, but from more, erm, creative ways of consuming coffee, such as coffee enemas. Having that much caffeine in your system could lead to a heart attack or seizure. There Are Two Kinds of BeansThe two kinds of beans are Arabica and Robusta. The have different tastes and different caffeine content; Arabica beans are more popular around the world. In fact, 70% of coffee drank on earth is Arabica. Robusta beans grow in different climates and are found largely in Africa and Indonesia. Although most people prefer the taste of Arabica, Robusta has it's fans, and Robusta beans have twice as much caffeine as Arabica! The drink "Americano" comes from when American GIs in WWII would order their espresso with water because it was too strongSort of funny when you think about how tough soldiers are supposed to be: Asking for your hosts to water down their coffee because it's too strong for you definitely isn't the most rugged of requests! When preparing an Americano, you always pour the hot water on top of the espresso in the glass. If you are instead pouring espresso over hot water you are making a different drink, commonly referred to as a long black. New York drinks about 7 times as much coffee as the rest of the worldWell, they DO call it the city that never sleeps....maybe this is why? You know, New Yorkers, we've heard it helps if you don't drink any coffee after sunset. Just a tip. There's some speculation as to why the Big Apple drinks so much coffee; a lot of it might have to do with population density. Since it is such a packed city, there are literally coffee shops everywhere. It also doesn't hurt that coffee is such a large part of the American culture. Coffee is a Major CommodityIn fact, coffee is the #2 most traded commodity on earth, coming only second to oil! On the NYBOT stock exchange coffee futures are one of the most popular commodities. Coffee consumption is actually great for the developing world, because 90% of coffee farming happens in developing countries, while most coffee is consumed in the developed world. The coffee trade funnels money from richer countries to poor countries. The two most popular beverages on Earth, in order, are water and coffee.Really not that surprising when you think about it. After all, it's hard for everyone to wake up all across the world, isn't it? Coffee has become, in the modern day, a staple of countless cultures worldwide for a variety of reasons. Coffee is also a large part of the world's economy for this reason. This would be alarming if coffee was as bad for you as we used to think, but research now shows that coffee is a healthy habit that people around the world should happily indulge in on a daily basis.

To many it taste the same but for people who drinks a lot will know the difference. Need some skill one. Some too blend etc. Don't wanna go Yakun though,

  5. Last weekend saw a gathering of some very lovely cars at Dempsey. Called Cars and Kopi, the meet up attracted many car owners turned up in their pristine and well groomed cars. While it wasn't the largest turnout this time round, there was still a good showing of interesting stuff. For those who couldn't make it for the meet, check out what came!

  8. Anyone posted this already? Find it very funny... The mata also buay tahan...ask him dun "limpeh limpeh" ... rough translation: Ah beng started to film this entire conversation with him and the police. He mentioned he only know how to speak mandarin. So the police asked him what do he want, he brought the policemen to his car and activated the alarm system. The police asked him what happened earlier. He mentioned while he was drinking his coffee inside his car, his car alarm went off. The police also asked him to shut the alarm as it is too noisy. He replied saying he don’t know how to do so. He felt frustrated as the alarm went off repeatedly and wanted to go to work. He wanted the police to help him find the person who touched his car. The police then asked him if he had allowed the valet parking service personnel parked for him. He replied only himself can touch his car. https://www.facebook.com/video.php?v=956548644390303&set=vb.416856241692882&type=2&theater
  9. By the Prime Minister, no less. (OK, OK, I know it's after the fact - I didn't go if you're curious). If they're pulling out the big guns, then Erection must be imminent. Better give the sheeple a massive dose of Viagra to make sure the Erection goes well.

  15. http://singaporeseen.stomp.com.sg/stomp/sg...buy_coffee.html STOMPer RadXon was touched to see two Filipino women buying coffee for an old couple who had no money, and even sharing their sandwich with them. Said the STOMPer: "I was having breakfast at a coffeeshop and saw two Filipino ladies no more than 26. "They were drinking coffee and chatting. Then I saw a very old couple apparently with not much money and looking abandoned. "What I saw next made me feel ashamed. "The Filipino women walked to the old couple and asked if they wanted coffee and proceeded to queue up for coffee, bought two cups for them and also offered their sandwich to them. "Kudos to them." 邪有邪报, 善有善报!!!! 好心有好报!!!!!

  22. Can anyone verify the truth of the claim in this stomp article? http://singaporeseen.stomp.com.sg/stomp/sg...e_they_get.html If you are planning on travelling to Malaysia, make sure to abide by traffic rules. A STOMPer received an email warning against giving Malaysian police bribes as they can get even more money if they report you for bribery. The STOMPer had received the warning in a chain email that was forwarded to him. The email warns against offering Malaysian police 'coffee money' if one is ever stopped or caught for a traffic offence. According to the email, Malaysian authorities have initiated an anti-corruption system that offers police officers an incentive of RM100 (SG$43.67) for every case of bribery they report to the department. This new initiative may deter many officers from accepting bribes and encourage them trick you into offering them a bribe. Motorists who try to get away with their law will end up in even more trouble than they would've been if they just paid their fines. The email read: "Don't offer bribes to the police because if they get more than what you offer, you will get into more trouble. "WARNING : DON'T OFFER DUIT KOPI FROM NOW ON! "Dear friends, if you have ever paid or are thinking of paying 'coffee money' when stopped for traffic or other offences, DON'T EVER do this again. "The traffic department (JPJ) recently started a campaign to get rid of corruption. Every Officer on duty will be rewarded with RM100.00 for each case of bribery reported to the department. "This is how they trick you into it. They will note down the details of your IC/MyKad, and ask you how you want to settle it ('Macam mana nak selesai?'). "If you indicate yes or even offer to give them any money, they will report the incident by rejecting your 'coffee money' and claim the RM100. "This means that you will end up having a summon issued to you and perhaps be charged for bribery. "SO DON'T PAY DUIT KOPI AGAIN, especially if you hope to go free with a smaller amount of money. "Even if you want to pay over RM200, the JPJ Officers would rather have a 'good' name than take your kopi money. "Just beware of their tricks because the cops are now accumulating 'cookie' points for their promotions and pay increment. "They should have done this to stop corruption a long time ago. But anyway, it's better late than never, right?"
  23. Having dinner at a a crowded kopi tiam last night, saw a tiny little bably girl stumbling/crawling around unattended as her parents were busy eating there. A diseaster waiting to happen. Within 5 min, I saw 2 lady diners and the kopi aunty nearly fall while trying to avoid knocking into her. Little girl is so short it was easy to miss her when she stumle around the tables and chairs. Cant help thinking what happens if someone carrying hot stuff... say claypot curry fish head .... trips over the baby? Who will the parents blame? Another favourite thing is when people anyhow push/park their baby prams in crowded food places... steaming laksa drenched baby anyone? Sometimes I wonder are parents really so clueless or they cant be bothered? OK... rant over.
  24. To be honest, this is very, very weak stuff. I think you need at least 2, probably 3 sachets to have similar kick to the ones you find in kopitiam. Accidentally put about 20% too much water in my cup today when trying out this brand. Tasted like coffee flavoured water.
