How come technology still so outdated ?

when i bought my car, i bought the keyless version coz i tink its a new technology n interesting to have.. After using it for a while, this is wad i tink:- pros:- when taking alot of stuff, dunit to find my key, juz poke any finger in n door open. eehh... nothing else i can tink of.. cons:- 1k more den the normal version only given one keyless key.. (the other one is juz a key, dun even have remote control) expensive to duplicate, abt $500-$700.... imagine if i lost my key... heavy damage when i lock my door, by pressing the button, i cant double confirm it's locked, coz once my fingers is in, the door open, so have to chk the back door (make me feel like ah gong) i feel i have pay more to have more trouble.. haiz..

Anyone installed the above? hows the review? am thinking of getting both as i am lazy to look for keys.

Hi Folks, Need some help from those car experts here. My car uses a keyless entry/push-start button system. It is factory fitted (JDM). In the last week or so, I started having issues opening doors. Intermittently I'll have to press the door button / keys a few times before the doors will unlock. Today for the first time, my car could not even start! The key could not be detected! Finally after letting the engine rest for a couple of mins, I managed to get it started again. I've changed my key batteries. Confirmed also not the car battery since I changed it only in Feb 2012. What other possibilities are there? Also if the engine can't detect my keys again, what else can I do to get it started so that I can drive it to the workshop? Appreciate your help. Cheers!

BMWs and Range Rovers are particularly at-risk, police say, and can be in the hands of a technically minded criminal within 60 seconds. Security researchers have now discovered a similar vulnerability in keyless vehicles made by several carmakers. The weakness – which affects the Radio-Frequency Identification (RFID) transponder chip used in immobilizers – was discovered in 2012, but carmakers sued the researchers to prevent them from publishing their findings. Has a manual unlock button. Gramps got flustered and couldn't find it. Lucky for them it all worked out and we can have a laugh about it.

As the above thread,any Bro/Sis installed them on their ride?Considering installing it on mine,but concern about the reliabilty and other unforseen issue although it comes with a year's warranty. -
Any bros know if a car engine started, and the key is not in the car. How far can the car travel? A noob question but never try this out before. Any bros know this?

Got a friend in distress when her 'keyless' sensor was inside her handbag and at the rear seat. She came out of the car and closed the driver's door and it auto lock. No spare sensor as she bought the car from 2nd hand dealer. Anyone know any method to open the door. Breaking the window will be the last resort. Model is Nissan 'March' ...

anybody installed an aftermarket keyless entry device? saw 1 in malaysia going at 1k rm, i think its really cheap for such a device just not sure if it'll cause more problems instead

hi people, a friend of mine looking for factory installed 2004-2006 keyless/pushstart ls430. i checked the ones on sgcarmart, but none has this feature. i know the new ls460 has it. anyone got any lobang, pls pm me. thanks. JS

anybody knows the difference btw keyless go vs keyless entry or do they come together. eg. the new PI e class, doesnt come with keyless go, but apparently comes with keyless entry. does keyless entry means just pull door handle to unlock?

Looking at one of the advertiser selling a Korean smart entry system, where the car door will auto unlock once it detect a transpondent(keyfob) nearby. It will also auto lock the car door once the transpondent is away from car. As I just bought a new car, would like to have this smart key entry system for my car. The keyfob will remai in my pant pocket all the time while the car door unlock and lock depending I am near to the car or leaving the car. This keyless system plus a push button engine start/ stop would make my car like nissan or high end Bmw/lexus/mercs. I would like to gather some feedbacks from car owners who have installed and using this keyless cum push button system. Any comments and recommendation? Reliable? Or any weird and unsatisfactory operation experiences to share? Thanks.

Hi all, Alot of new cars sold in SG these days are equiped with "Keyless" entry.....however, i read in the discussion on another forum ( http://forums.motortrend.com/70/6570339/th...ntry/index.html ) that the signal for the keyless entry system may have an adverse effect on the functionality of the Pacemaker used in heart patients. Hence, I will like to ask car owners of cars with keyless entry system if they have similar concerns and if they have obtained a satisfactory answer from the AD or manufacturer. Please share. Thanks.

ok, im driving a latio and just collected my car from workshop (due to accident..) a few days ago... so far, no weird sounds and everything seems perfectly done except for one weird phenomenon..... even with me on driver seat, and engine started and started driving, the "Key" signal will blink for around 10seconds and then gone... if no key detected, it's "red" and i cant start the engine but for this weird situation, key is detected and i can start engine and drive but the green lighted "key" sign will blink blink blink.... in fact, it seems no harm but it doesn't hapen this way before... is this the sign of weakening battery??..... come to think of it, 2yrs+ is about time to change the batt...

My ride came with factory keyless entry, a card in place of key. Where just need to tap the door handle to unlock. The sensor on driver door no longer functioning, any specific workshop I should go for this? What's the damage? Went a few places, nobody know how to fix. Thanks.

Wanted to get extra transponder Toyota SMART keyless entry, 3 buttons type, lock/unlock/open sliding door. The type where I don't need to press any button to unlock my car door. Was quoted $580 for it from shop in turf city/toh guan. Seems rather expensive to me. Anywhere else that also sell original transponders?

Hi, has anyone installed aftermarket keyless entry for their rides? I am referring to keyless entry systems like those found in Nissan Latio and newer cars whereby there is no need to press the remote button to activate locking/unlocking. The activation is done by the owner (carrying the keyless remote) moving towards or away from the car. Look for those which can integrate into my existing car alarm, rather replacing the entire alarm module. Any brands or shop to recommend?

I need some advise on this. My new car will come with factory-fitted keyless entry. I am thinking of adding a car alarm to it. I wonder if I could still use back the factory remote control, and not those remote control that comes with the aftermarket alarm. My budget is <$150 for the car alarm system. Any recommendations?

Bros, anyone know if its true that if you install an alarm system, the original double locking systems and keyless entry dont work any more ? Kind of a bummer leh, is it possible to have both work at the same time ?

Hi Everyone, Today, I misplaced my car keys. I am now using my duplicate. I am worried that I may loose this duplicate with the keyless remote (transponder?). I am driving an Aveo. Where can I have this transponder duplicated. There was an advert in the ST recently of this service, but I did not keep the paper. Can anyone help? Thanks
